Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner owned by a private client. The Dreamliner’s custom interior design was inspired by water, light

vineyards. Despite visiting the Rioja region during the winter, we were totally blown away by the Marqués de Riscal site upon our arrival. The winery complex, which has been nicknamed “the City of Wine,” is located in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa region and includes one of the most recognized luxury hotels in the world. ersonally speaking, I don’t like to gamble. What I do like is a sure thing, an absolute lock and a guaranteed winner. That is why I can unequivocally say that not only is the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas my favorite place to stay on the Strip, it’s also the safest bet you can make in Vegas. It sits just far enough away from everything, but still, you always know you are close enough to anything you could possibly want or desire.

I experienced a Two-Bedroom Penthouse suite, which was spectacular, with the ϐ ǡ Ǥ ǡ our friends who work as a television anchor in Chicago and as a prominent NFL referee, celebrated an evening together, using our suite as headquarters to begin the evening enjoying cocktails and our breathtaking view, before heading out to dinner away from the hotel. Again, when the night is over, you can’t put a price tag on how nice it is to get into your suite immediately after stepping out of your car. ϐ ǡ haven’t experienced Trump International Las Vegas, do it on your next trip. SUPPLY, NOT DEMAND, DRIVES THE ECONOMY BY KEN MCELROY

M

any believe that consumers drive the economy, but there is a fundamental illogic to the notion that an economy can be grown by encouraging consumption. When a ǡ ϐ ǡ Ǥ The very process of consumption leaves us with less than before.

It is true that consumers are used strategically by the government as one of the driving forces in leading an economy out of a recession, but that consumer spending is not the mainstay of any economy. Investment is. Consumers don’t employ people. Businesses (producers) do This truth prevails in the marketplace: It’s supply — not demand — that drives the economy. Savings, productivity and technological advances are the keys to economic growth. Business spending on capital goods, new technology, ϐ sustaining the economy and a higher standard of living. In fact, it was Jean-Baptiste Say who taught that supply (or production) creates its own demand. Scottish economist James Mill (father of John Stewart Mill) explained it this way: “Production of commodities creates, and is the one and universal cause which creates. a market for the commodities produced.” But Say merely extended the law taught by King Solomon in Ecclesiastes 5:11: “As goods increase, so do those who consume them.” Issue 2 . 2015

CRUISING ALTITUDE ESTATES The simplest way to think about this is to follow the money. Just where do these “consumers” get their money to spend? The government? Their employers or “producers”? Before they can consume, Ǥ ϐ Ȅ Ǧ Ȅ ǡ destroyed like in the example of the government supplying money for consumption in the form of an entitlement. Some consider entitlement or social programs, like unemploy ϐ ǡ ǡ they by no means “stimulate” the economy. The recipient, after all, is consuming without producing any value for others. These programs, which can be disincentives for people to be productive, have exploded in recent years and not only reduce employment, but reduce output and growth. And while I agree that these programs are certainly necessary, they can be damaging if not managed. It’s the Keynesian approach that puts the matter upside down, but continues to be the only ideology considered as a solution, which is: demand creates supply. With this approach, putting spending power into the hands of consumers will drive the economy. History shows that incentives for consumers can lead to all kinds of mischief, including taking of money from those who earned it and giving it to those who didn’t, all in the name of “fairness” and “economic justice.” The fact that the Keynesian approach doesn’t work, never has worked, and never can work, doesn’t bother the statists who favor more government. The reality is that business and investment spending are the true leading indicators of the economy and the stock market. If you want to know where the stock market is headed, forget about consumer ϐ Ǥ ǡ ǡ ϐ Ǥ Granted, the ultimate function of business activity and entrepre ϐ ǡ ϐ Ǥ headed for disaster, as it should be. But more important, who discovers the new, improved products that consumers desire? Who is the catalyst that determines the quantity,

quality and variety of goods and services? Did the consumer come up with the idea of automobiles, personal computers, fax machines, cell phones, the Internet and the iPhone? No, these technological breakthroughs came from the genius of creative entrepreneurs and the savers/capitalists who funded their inventions. If you think a consumer can save their way to wealth, you’re wrong. Spending less than you make is not the path to riches. Instead, Ȅ ǡ ǡ Ȅ Ǥ ahead or being wealthy, while the already-wealthy people who own those assets just keep getting wealthier. When people save more, interest rates fall and businesses can afford to replace their old equipment with new tools, spend more on research and development or develop new production processes.

Remember, in a dynamic economy, the decision by businesses to spend more investment funds and hire more workers is a function of both current consumer demand and future consumer demand. Investor and blogger Steve Roth recently crunched government data and found that household saving — whatever income people have left over after their spending — has little effect on boosting wealth. ϐ real estate dominate the up and downs of household wealth. The tiny sliver that is saving is small, and, Roth notes, getting relatively smaller. (Note that saving, in this case, does not include the capital gains people ϐ ǤȌ Letting speculation work for you, not saving, is how wealth is created. Net worth is tied to the market value of some illiquid things

Millions of Americans missed out on the wealth-spinning party by selling when stocks were low, or by being unable to afford to invest at all. Saving money won’t come close to helping them make up that wealth. ϐ Ǥ Dz dz Ǥ ǡ ǡ Dz ǫdz Dz ǫdz In reality, this is pretty much a trivial question, because it Ȅ will be identical. Oftentimes it seems that politicians are able to ǯ ǡ Dz ǯ Ǥdz are employees and most people are consumers more than they are ǡ and employers, but in actuality it doesn’t even matter.

Save the difference.” are misleading because saving is not the primary way wealth is accumulated. The bigger tragedy is that people think they are the failure when saving doesn’t work. If you’ve internalized that advice, it’s hard not to feel like a failure. The biggest point here is that money is often a claim on human labor. ϐ Ǥ ϐ Ǥ ǡ ǡ can go down as well as up. They’re recovered in some places, but many people saw most of their wealth disappear in the housing crisis. The stock market has been on a tear, of course. But that has meant rising wealth for a very small group.

hat makes a great leader? That’s a question that’s been debated for centuries in countless books, articles and speeches. And even after all that, we’re still left to wonder if there is one all-encompassing answer. There are certainly qualities consistently found in good leaders — integrity, motivation, inspiration and drive — but what do these leaders do that encourages those around them to perform at their best?

Simon Sinek, originator of The Golden Circle, postulates that good leadership is about creating an environment where employees feel safe. In this kind of culture, employees can focus on the work that needs to be done, and they’re more likely to work together to achieve it. Conversely, in an environment of danger, employees expend their energies trying to defend themselves. They’re distrustful of their coworkers and certainly of anyone in a leadership position, which can also negatively impact how they treat customers and suppliers. According to Sinek, that, in turn, weakens the entire organization. After all, if you’re focused on avoiding the internal dangers of the workplace, you may not even see potential dangers from the outside, like the competition taking market share away. Transparency promotes employee trust in company leadership, which, in turn, leads to increased commitment. Maintaining transparency requires an ongoing dialog between management and employees, whether it’s done through a monthly company meeting, a newsletter, employee intranet or anything in between. Keeping an active line of communication open is the only way to achieve true transparency. Although there were certainly no guarantees of success (or even a sure bet to break even, for that matter), I felt a sense of relief knowing that we were creating a new business that would, ideally, generate more money into our income column. Individuals, as well as entire nations, are consciously or unconsciously attempting ϐ order to avoid being assertively overpowered by other individuals or other nations.

Physical health, stamina, strength and well-being On a one-to-seven scale of potential empowerment, it is wise to ask yourself — “How empowered am I in each of the seven areas of life?” The less your overall empowerment total, the more forms of subordination you will probably be doing to others. And, in turn, the more subordinations you are doing to others, the less overall empowered you will probably be. We are not here to live in the shadows of anyone; we are here to live on the shoulders of giants. Any of these seven areas of life that we, as passive individuals, don’t empower will leave us vulnerable to becoming overpowered by more assertive others. So, in any area of life that we don’t empower, somebody else will be sure to overpower. That is nature’s way. Nature equilibrates passive and assertive individuals through time. The assertive expand and the passive contract their powers in order to play out the dance in the balance of powers. The more areas we are disempowered in, the more overpowered or dominated we will end up being by others. We are not victims of their overempowering position; we are simply not empowered, and it is their overpowered position that, in turn, initiates and catalyzes our drive for greater inner-empowerment, which, in turn, levels the two powers to equity.

Now, if our nation does not empower one or more of these seven areas, that area or those areas can become overpowered by other groups, or nations. So the law of empowerment applies to our nations just as it applies to us as individuals. The will to power and yearning for overall empowerment, although assumed to be about race, creed, color, age or sex, isn’t, in fact, limited to only these factors. There is always somebody from each race, creed, color, age or sex that empowers many, if not all, areas of their life, and who rises and is not overpowered. It’s all about empowering. ϐ involves the honesty of our intent, the congruency of our highest values and goal-driven actions and the quality of our education. Success leaves clues, and those individuals, as well as those nations that desire to rise in power, need to follow these persistent clues. Awakening to and owning the character traits of other empowered and exemplary individuals or nations and further developing these character traits in each of the seven areas of life can both empower individuals as well as entire nations. If we, as individuals or nations, blame outer circumstances for why we are not fully empowered, we will hinder our pursuit of empowerment. But if we start acting and doing the things that are proven to empower, we also rise in power. Instead of having individuals or nations sitting in the shadows of other individuals,

or other nations, it’s wise for both to recognize that nothing is missing within their boundaries, particularly in their areas of their competitive advantage. They are just not acknowledging, awakening or honoring the many hidden powers they already have. Once they awaken to these hidden powers and recognize them, through awareness and education, the competitive advantage that each individual, or nation, has can further rise and shine. If we, as individuals and nations, concentrate on what we do have, and recognize our latent and soon-awakened power and use it wisely, we will not become overpowered by others and a greater equanimity and equity can be obtained. Empowerment is not provided from the outside; empowerment comes from within. The moment the individual or nation realizes that nothing is missing inside them, that they have unrecognized powers and they highly value themselves and their great natural or intellectual resources, so does the world. Empowerment is not what corrupts; it’s the fear of being overpowered by others that often corrupts. The anticipation of loss of power corrupts, not so much the gain of power.

His ϐ ͹Ͳ ȋGodfather, Serpico, Godfather: Part II, Dog Day Afternoon...) is perhaps the Ǥ ǯ ǡ least one Oscar, Tony, Emmy and Golden Globe — not to mention Ȅ ϐ ͷͲǦ Ǥ ͷͲ ϐ ǡ Danny Collins, ǡ ǣ Pacino after all these years?

on Location transformed the already-gorgeous bride-to-be and her bridesmaids into beacons of beauty who would be equally ready for any Hollywood red carpet event. ϐ wedding experts. Ben and Kelly Koller of Ben and Kelly Photography not only instinctively knew how to capture every magical moment, but they were oh so adept at seemingly being everywhere, never missing a perfect photo opportunity, yet always remaining unnoticed and unobtrusive. Their breathtaking photos speak for themselves, as you can see by the results in this story. Their skills alone will make the memory of the day live forever and truly bring a larger-than-life feel to the entire experience. The pre-ceremony wedding photos were taken on this sunkissed Scottsdale day on the meticulous grounds of the Princess. They were followed by the arrival of two stretch limousines dispatched to pick up the wedding party and deliver them to the site of the ceremony and reception, Aero Jet Services’ private jet hangar at Scottsdale Airport. The site of the ceremony had to meet several criteria. It needed to raise the bar on the ‘wow factor.’ It had to be something that normally you could not attain, and it had to be ca ϐ Ǥ Jet Services hangar was the perfect choice. For the ceremony area, Kevin Reed of Your Event Florist started with a large, blank canvas of cement, and he created a custom, 12 ft. x

12 ft. natural living wall to serve as a backdrop and bring a softened, natural ambiance to the site. It still allowed guests to feel like they were in a jet hangar, but brought beauty to the expansive area and gave the guests a focal point. The custom wall was covered with green moss and assorted silver-painted succulents as a nod to Arizona living, and was further enhanced with the couple’s “T” Monogram made of orchids. The remaining décor for the ceremony site was done ϐ an elegant, but natural setting for the ceremony. A step-and-repeat backdrop with a custom logo for the event was staged at the entrance, and a professional photographer was on hand to snap photos of all incoming guests to set the tone that this wedding was going to be unlike any other. Commencing in late afternoon, just prior to sunset, beautiful classical string music by Cindy and Robert Leger of Ocotillo Music established the perfect mix of romance, love and laid-back Arizona fun. The alluring sonority of a ϐ Ǧ ϐ air and set the mood for the ceremony that was about to begin. ǡ ϐ arrangements lined the walkway which lead to a custom-crafted altar. ϐ ǡ in the late afternoon glow of a picturesque Southwest sunset and providing the ultimate backdrop. back down the aisle, now as newlyweds, it was time to get down to the serious business of throwing a wedding reception that would continue this ultimate dream wedding in appropriate fashion. The reception started with top-shelf cocktails from Pour Masters in the open bars along with hors d’oeuvres, including Spicy Ahi Tuna Tartare and Eggplant Caponata Eggrolls from Ciao Baby Catering. Approximately an hour later, two immense sliding doors that guarded the contents of Aero Jet’s hangar opened simultaneously, like giant curtains being pulled back to start the Oscars. What bombarded the guests’ senses next was a jaw-dropping wave of astonishment as the interior had been completely transformed into a party/reception space that looked like a cloud met a fairy tale and landed on the trendiest hotel on the Sunset Strip. Top-of-the line vendors such as Kool Party Rentals for the tables, chairs, lounge furniture and drapery; and Classic Party Rentals for ǡ ϐ Ǥ drapery framed the entire hangar and vibrant uplighting highlighted the signature purple theme and created a warm, intimate atmosphere. Aero Jet even staged a Dassault Falcon 20 inside the hangar in the middle of it all to add to the ambiance. ϐ ǡ created by Kevin who drew inspiration from the esthetic of Amy’s wedding décor concept, which was a theme of modern, white elegance for the ceremony and rich, luxurious purple for the reception.

Two styles of centerpieces were custom created. One design utilized 100 purple Bombay orchid strands, each with 100 handstrung orchid blooms for a total of 10,000 blooms. Tall glass vases ϐ ǡ ǡ fuchsia and red, and set atop mirrored tables. Petite versions of this ϐ Ǥ The couple strived to offer their guests fare and libations that were in keeping with this opulent celebration, and they succeeded, since attendees raved about the sit-down dinner. “The food was phenomenal!” was a quote heard frequently from table to table. The Roasted Pear Salad with Baby Greens and Balsamic Roasted Pears was exquisite and the Marcela Wine Reduction Chicken Breast served over Seven Herb and Parmesan Risotto was divine, all courtesy of Ciao Baby Catering. ϐ Ǧ ϐ ǡ ϐ Ǥ Ǧ Ǧ ϐ ǡ ϐ elements covered the entire cake. It featured over 350 hand Ǧ ϐ Ǥ ϐ design made from royal icing gave the cake a feminine, elegant ϐ Ǥ ǡ ǡ Callahan, her head decorator, enjoyed making this challenging work of art come to life.

Record-Setting Event Tops $130 Million in Vehicle Sales

hen Jetset invited a select group of VIPs to enjoy the amenities of its expansive tent at the recent Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, these special guests knew they would be treated like celebrities. What they may not have known at the time is that they would also be part of a historic, record-setting event where 1,611 vehicles were auctioned off, generating over $130 million in sales.

The celebrity treatment began when Scottsdale-based Ion Jets, Jetset’s ǡ ϐ jet. When guests arrived at Jetset’s VIP tent, they were able to meet Paul Teutul, Sr. from Orange County Choppers who was on hand to sign autographs. nyone who’s ever descended on a Super Bowl city knows that from Thursday before the game until an hour before kickoff, it’s easy to forget there’s actual football to be played to decide the NFL championship. And that the entire weekend isn’t simply about private jet landings, celebrity appearances and celebrity-fueled parties. That was the case this year in Scottsdale and Phoenix, but among the never-ending spectacle of A-list attendees making appearances at soirees all over town, there was one event that looked, felt, and simply was different. It was the Big Game Big Give party held January 31st at the spectacular Paradise Valley home of Major League Baseball Manager of the Year Matt Williams and his wife Erika. the “must have” ticket for anyone looking to get a glimpse of the red carpet arrival of some of the planet’s most recognizable faces.
