weƒcome to Our event-packed, mid-winter celebration derives its name from the local Jersey NormanFrench language and translates as ‘The Christmas Festival’. Experience a real Jersey Christmas with traditional markets, dazzling parades, wintery walks and a sack load of seasonal delights.

A spot of C¬ristmas shoppinΩ

During December, most of St Helier’s shops will be open late on Thursday evenings and all day on Sundays, a rare occurrence in Jersey. On Thursdays 5th, 12th, 19th many stores will close at 21:00, and on Sundays 1st, 8th, 15th shops will open between 10:00 – 17:00. On Sunday 22nd most will open until 18:00 while some shops will also be open until 19:00 every night from Monday 16th – Monday 23rd. St Helier’s shopping centre has an excellent mix of well–known high street shops, independent local boutiques and department stores. Don’t miss the Victorian covered markets, filled with a wealth of glorious goodies at this time of year; the ‘Central Market’ has holly wreaths and mistletoe, clementines, chestnuts and warming spices while the ‘Fish Market’ across the street is filled with locally farmed and caught fruits of the sea.


Christmas Cavalcades Lantern Parade Come along and watch a spectacular lantern procession through the streets of St Helier. Hundreds of children carrying lanterns will be accompanied by musicians as they journey from Liberty Wharf to The Royal Square through the main shopping streets of St Helier. Spectacular Christmas Parade Wrap up warm for this celebration at the heart of La Fête dé Noué. Cheer loudly as a colourful procession of floodlit floats covered in twinkling lights snakes past with its lively mix of music and dancing. Get your skates on because the rink is back! Whether you’re a polished performer or a complete novice, you’ll love this opportunity to skate your socks off. The very popular ‘Ice Café’ will be open to all daily, with viewing directly onto the rink. Winter 'wander' land

Join a local or do it yourself! Take a town tour, a rural ramble or join the Ghost of Christmas past and see Jersey from a different perspective; just think of the calories you can burn! Historic Town Tour Immerse yourself in the festivities of the town and hear tales of St Helier’s history on this fascinating tour around the historic areas of the town. Hear tales of times past and learn some local Christmas traditions along the way. Pop into the Victorian markets filled with beautiful arrangements of fruit, flowers and decorations and see the inside of the beautiful Town Church; just some of the stops on this snapshot tour of the Island’s capital. Lantern Making Workshop You are invited to come and participate in making lanterns for the Lantern Parade on Saturday 30th November; and if you make a lantern you are welcome to take part in the parade itself! Christmas in the Village From the shadow of impressive, medieval Mont Orgueil Castle, join your guide on a leisurely circular wander around historic Gorey to discover the local traditions of Christmases past. Learn about wild syrups, mushrooms, nuts, berries and much more. There will be an opportunity to prepare some of the foraged food on an open fire. The Advent Market Packed with festive crafts, decorations, tasty treats and live entertainment that’s sure to get you into the spirit of the season! You can even join a Blue Badge Guide for a free tour around the historic town centre (on the hour from 11:00 – 16:00 on both days). Festivities and Fishermen Enjoy a leisurely stroll exploring the picturesque 18th century harbour and town of St. Aubin. Head up the cobbled High Street and imagine the joys of the Georgian festive parties in this town, little changed from Christmases past. Christmas Story Telling with Old Father Christmas The legendary figure of Father Christmas was often portrayed wearing a green, fur-lined coat and a crown of evergreen. This year, the kindly old gent will be regaling the Island’s young with wintertime stories of times past and rewarding them with gifts. Children must be accompanied by an adult. When: Saturday 30th November, 7th, 14th, 21st December Time: 10:00 – 17:00 (festive music on Saturdays in December) Where: Georgian House Museum, 16 New Street, St Helier How much: £3 for children, entry to the shop is free Jersey Heritage Big Advent Calendar Jersey Heritage’s large scale Advent Calendar celebrates a tradition dating back to 1851. Local Churches and Sunday Schools are invited to draw pictures of the real Christmas Story and what it means to them. 24 fantastic pictures will be chosen to tell the Christmas story with a new picture revealed each day. Pop along for the Christmas Concert on the 7th at 19.30 featuring The Cantabile Ensemble & the Usual Suspects, and the Christingle Service on the 15th at 17:00; it’s a real festive treat! Christmas Pop Up Feast Eat, drink and be merry at our informal preChristmas get-together with Tony’s Famous Spit Roast Loin of Pork with proper crackling, creamy garlic celeriac mash, flageolet beans and a rich red wine jus, followed by Spiced Apple and Christmas Pudding Crumble with full fat Jersey Cream. There will also be a vegetarian option on the night. This is sure to be a great evening, so bring your own wine and drinks, bring the kids, bring the dogs and let’s have a good time!
