Macmillan Dictionary Irregular Verb Wheel Game Spin the wheel and take your chance! The Macmillan Irregular Verb Wheel will spin and an arrow will indicate your verb and ask you to identify a verb tense from a short list. Which is the past participle? Which is the infinitive? Guess wrong, and you get the correct answer. Answer all the questions and get another spin.

You have 2 minutes to answer as many questions about as many verbs as you can. When time is up, the Irregular Verb Wheel displays the score and indicates how many verbs you got completely correct. The Irregular Verb Wheel is a simple, fun learning tool that can be used in the classroom or individually by students. The Wheel is just one of the many features on Macmillan Dictionary’s website. I definitely recommend visiting and browsing through other “extras” such as Buzz Word or the dynamic thesaurus.

students in the library Fall semester is in full swing-- students have found their classrooms, purchased their books and begun to complete their assignments. Many students are finding their way to the Library to study, find books, ask questions or take advantage of our resources and services. The Library is an important partner in the success of COD students and students who use the Library not only have access to vast resources but also to Library faculty and staff who can help them navigate these resources. In the past, I have encouraged ESL and ABE/GED instructors to bring their students to the Library for a tour and introduction to Library resources. Currently, however, there is not much of the Library to tour! As you likely know, the Library is in the first stages of a major renovation project and the upper-level of our facility is empty of everything that doesn’t hold up the walls and ceiling. Though we still have periodicals, new books, the College and Career Information Collection (CCIC) and reference collection, among others, available in our Main Library, most of our materials are housed in the Library’s OCC Annex. Students visiting us have access to many resources, but not much to occupy them during a tour. If you have brought your classes to the Library for an orientation or tour in the past, I hope you won’t abandon your plans to introduce to your students to the Library! If you would like your students to work with the materials in the CCIC or reference collection, please contact me and we can schedule a visit with use of a computer classroom and introduction to those resources. If your students don’t have a research project, consider sending them to the Library to complete a scavenger hunt, to check out a book or to meet a librarian. Extra credit is always a good motivator! If you have another idea for getting your students into the Library, please share it with me! I’m happy to work with you to help your students succeed at COD.

library cards Remind your students how easy it is to get a library card! Of course students can get library cards at the Circulation Desk of the Library, but students can also get cards at the Learning Commons in Bloomingdale, Naperville and Westmont. Not at a regional center? Get library cards for your entire class with the library card application! Download the form for your students and return the completed applications along with a copy of your MyAccess class roster to Library Circulation via campus mail. Within a week, the Library will send you your students library cards.
