Dear valued customers, We hope the arrival of this catalog finds you all well. This past year we have made an intentional effort to go back to basics, or more importantly our roots. For 42 years, we have been in the forefront of bringing aviation and heritage inspired apparel to all of you, all the while supplying high quality Mil-Spec garments to members of multiple branches of the US Armed Forces as well as international government agencies. We are always honored when chosen by those who serve our nation and our communities as they rely on us for the best in product quality, attention to detail, and most importantly our dedication to making our products in the USA. As we get back to our roots, we are returning to one of our original methods of showing you examples of our products- new and old. The Cockpit Catalog was once an anticipated arrival in the mail and slowly but surely, we would like to make that the case once again. Although we would like to highlight that this isn’t a substitute for our web site, it is an opportunity to see the products through print photography and a more personal delivery method than the screen of a computer. Our brand has never just been just about the clothes. The brand was born out of growing up in a family of World War II Army Air Force veterans, a passion for history, a love for aviation, and nearly a lifetime as aviators spanning three generations. This passion is tangible in the long-time sponsorship preserving aviation history at the American Airpower Museum at historic Republic Airport in NY, and to causes supporting today’s veterans such as the charitable Folds of Honor organization. We continue to passionately bring you styles that tell a story from our past that fit right in with the contemporary fashion styles we so love today. Designed in 1931 as the standard flight jacket for the Army Air Corps, for aviators, pilots, navigators, bombardiers, and the like. Reinstituted in 1986, this classic leather jacket was originally created to keep its aircrew warm in the cockpit.

Cockpit USA salutes the service men of the U.S.A.A.F. who heroically embarked on that perilous first mission of bombing the Japanese Homeland on April 18th, 1942 during WWII. Careful attention has been given to the 34th Bomb Squadron embroidered patch on the left chest. According to comments made by the Air Force pilots who requested practical modifications of the original re-issue 1987 version of the A-2 flight jacket, the Official USAF 21st Century A-2 is a contemporary version of the original classic Government Issue jacket. Cockpit USA is proud to offer a limited edition re-issue of an original variant of the A-2 Army Air Force pilot’s jacket introduced as official uniform wear in 1931 and permitted to be made of goatskin even though the original specifications called for horsehide with goatskin as an alternative. STYLE # Z2011A • MADE IN USA During WWII, the ‘battle worn’ look of a pilot’s jacket was a visual reflection of his courage and bravery. Recreating this effect, the antique lambskin features purposely made surface irregularities and natural graining to recreate a weather-beaten appearance. STYLE # Z21V60 • MADE IN USA Prior to December 1941 as a volunteer fighter squadron fighting the Japanese in China, the American Volunteer Group was nicknamed the Flying Tigers. Absorbed into the Army Air Force on July 4th 1942, the 23rd Fighter Group was the official new name for the AVG, but kept their nom de guerre “The Flying Tigers”. G-1 Designed in the 1930s for the US Navy, US Marine Corps, and the US Coast Guard, the G-1 Flight Jacket originally called the goatskin M-422A Flight Jacket was modified at various times and has continued to be worn by US Naval Aviation personnel. Originally created in 1985, this unique vintage flight jacket starred in the iconic “Top Gun” movie. Based on early 60s specifications, this jacket has a light russet colored antiqued mouton collar. Cockpit USA’s Black Eagle G-1 Jacket commemorates the bravery of the pilots and aircrew of the PBY Catalina “The Black Eagle”. One of the many PBY aircraft that flew night stealth missions, the squadrons became known as the “Black Cats” during WWII. During the warmer months in the South Pacific, pilots modified their jackets by removing fur collars, adorning them with hand painted back nose art, bomb symbols and aerial victory flags indicating the number of missions the crew endured.
