College Education May Help Brain Trauma Recovery A university study concludes that individuals who have obtained higher education may recover faster versus those with a high schol degree. Individuaks who have attended college were 4 times as likely to make a full recovery and return to their daily activites. Scientists believe that education may increase “cognitive reserve� which enables the recovery process for the brain. The study examined 769 individuals who suffered traumatic bran injuries. After a year 39% of individuals with a college degree made a full recovery while versus 10% of those without one. Scientists believe that education strengthens the brain cells utilized in memory and learning functions and a stronger network may better at repairing itself. Having a solid support network of friends and family and exercise are also key factors when it comes to recovery. In addition, life long learning can also be beneficial and can be pursued by anyone regardless of educatonal background.
