The art of theatre decoration has been around for centuries and we are specialists in recreating Devon in 1854 and by the mid 1870s had moved to London. His first major project was to complete the Elephant and Castle Theatre and after that went from success to success and over the next 30 years became the most prolific theatre architect of all time. He designed for Sir Oswald Stoll, his masterpiece, The London Coliseum. This theatre still survives and is now the home of English National Opera. J&C Joel were influential in the refurbishment of this venue, which is yet another Matcham Historic project.
