Pre-Professional Preparation Pre-Physical Therapy Most programs of physical therapy desire students who have completed four years of undergraduate training. Students with a bachelor's degree then apply to a graduate program in physical therapy which will grant the master's degree or doctoral degree. Students considering pre-physical therapy should consult the Learning and Academic Advising Center and health professions advisers in the Division of Natural Science when planning their coursework. It should be noted that admission to physical therapy programs is very competitive and students who have been highly successful in their undergraduate work are the most viable candidates for admission. Pre-Occupational Therapy In addition to specific science courses, a background in psychology is recommended for occupational therapy. Students may complete two or three years of coursework at Jamestown College and apply for the professional programs at other institutions. Alternatively, students may complete four years of training in a major at Jamestown College and then apply for Master of Science programs. As with other professional programs, admission to occupational therapy at the graduate level is competitive. Students considering this program should consult the Learning and Academic Advising Center and health professions advisers in the Division of Natural Science when planning their coursework.
