For students in the combined history and political science major, this course can count in the U.S. area or the non-U.S. area, depending upon course content. With the department chair’s permission, this course can be repeated once if the topics differ sufficiently.

311‑3  Federal Indian Policy An examination of the U.S. government’s policies toward the native peoples of North America. Topics covered include warfare, education and civilization programs, land cessions, Indian citizenship, the debate over tribal citizenship, the debate over tribal sovereignty, and the special concerns of non-reservation Indians.

450-1-3  Internship in Political Science (Pols) A supervised experiential learning course for students interested in politics and public policy programs. A written report on the experience will be required, and preliminary readings and a report from the agency involved may be required.
