CHILDREN OF PAKISTAN

“Children of Pakistan” is a collection of photographs based on Orphans, Children At Work and Young Pashtuns (also known as Pakhtuns). I photographed these kids in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. I got in contact with SOS children’s village and Edhi Home who look after kids who are suffering with the loss of missing identity in Pakistan. I had to seek permission to take photographs of the children otherwise this experience would not have been able to take place. I was also photographing children at work and young kids around other areas; as you will see in the book and that was probably the hardest part, as I had to convince the guardians and organisations who they were working for, before taking the kids photos. From this I learnt that they are scared of getting photographed due to the different situations in Pakistan. The best part of this project was the smile on every kids face after I showed them the photos that I took of them.

I am particularly grateful to SOS Children’s Village and Edhi Home for allowing me to photograph the kids staying in their residence (orphanages). I would also like to say thank you to Mr Tanveer and Mr Khaliq who helped me to travel around Rawalpindi and islamabad to photograph kids in other areas.
