“Why fit in when you were born to stand out!” A motto that Erin and Desiree Green stand by. These two beautiful and vivacious ladies are an example of uniqueness. They may look the same, have a similar walk, and carry themselves in the same manner but their personalities are quite unique. Erin is the observant of the two. She’s known for examining first, take action second. Desiree is the bold and daring one, known to act first ask questions later. These contrasting personalities allows them to be there for each other, support and encourage one other. They didn’t see things quite this way growing up. They tried their best to fit in with the in-crowd. Found it difficult to grab the attention of others and socially were labeled as ‘awkward’. They were ridiculed and bullied as youth for their lack of size and peculiar look. Overcoming childhood obstacles, led us to share our experiences with others through the development of Twin of a Kind. Twin of A Kind (TAK) is a self-empowerment organization based on building selfesteem and creating positive self-awareness by motivating and encouraging youth/young adults to see their potential. A hallmark of TAK is gaining self-acceptance and the understanding that everyone is different in their own way. Twin of A Kind provides interactive workshops called “Unlock and Unleash Your Star Potential” designed to help individuals get to know themselves, love themselves, and be true to themselves. Their defining moments that have led them out of their zone of isolation and fear was being able to conquer self-doubt and just simply take risks. They gained their confidence by appearing on Fear Factor (Twins Edition) in 2005; appearing on a music video by Slum Village titled, “Selfish” featuring Kanye West; while captivating their audiences on the runway with their dynamic synchronized strut, wearing the hottest trends and fashions of many fashion designers. Embracing size and appearance on countless amounts of print ads; obtaining over 30 years of combined experience in the mental health field; and most of all just being a twin and always knowing they have someone by their side.
Erin is the more observant of the two. She’s known for examining things first, and taking action second. Erin has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy. She has been involved in the entertainment industry as a model and actress for over ten years. Her passion for modeling has given her confidence to overcome adolescent self-esteem issues. Erin’s vibrant, warm and bold personality is gravitating and individuals are drawn to confidence and a beautiful spirit. However, on the other end of the spectrum, she is a straight shooter and will be very honest and candid with providing you with the facts of life.

Not only is she is intelligent but a go-getter. It doesn’t stop there, she also finds her passion and strength when it comes to strutting on a runway or in front of any camera. She comes alive! She commands attention anywhere she goes but keeping within her boundaries. Spontaneous in nature, and can liven any party, she is driven and goal oriented. Desiree is no stranger to marriage, parenting, and holding down a career all at the same time.

TAK offered ten workshops within a 4 week period titled, “Unlock and Unleash Your Star Potential” to the Foster and Kinship Care Education Program at Pasadena City College.
TAK delivered a powerful and motivational message titled, “Overcoming negative self -talk” to over 200 foster youth (female) at My Sister’s Keeper Day Institute located at Los Angeles Trade Technical College, CA.
TAK collaborated with the Department of Child & Family Services (DCFS) Runaway Outreach Unit to present a workshop on “Taking Risks” to over 300 foster youth.
TAK participated in the Project Fatherhood Conference titled, “The Fatherhood Solution,” hosted by Children’s Institute, Inc. as presenters on the topic of “Who Are Your Children’s Role Models?”
Presenters at the National Innovative Communities Conference, TAK facilitated a workshop titled, “Building Self-Esteem to Prevent Bullying and Violence.
TAK spoke to the young women who have gone through some type of traumatic experience involving sex trafficking at Crittenton Services for Children & Families.
TAK were speakers on how to combat bullies at the iStand4Peace Summit, hosted by Special needs Network to over 425 middle school students.
Received special public recognition and the highest commendations by the Honorable Senator Roderick D. Wright with the 35th District, for their distinguished record of public service and immeasurable contributions to empowering young people in the community.
