Winter & Spring PROGRAMS

EVENTS
D ear I tasca P ark D istrict Patrons: You may think that during the winter you have to stay inside with no place to go, and nothing to do. Well, the Itasca Park District can offer you several winter activities that will keep you on the go and out of the house. Last year, we kicked off the Holiday Season with our new Winter Wonderland in Usher Park. This year, four new exhibits are being added and the holiday lighting will take place on November 26th at 4pm. The season will be filled with holiday magic. Santa will be at Usher Park on several dates for photos, don’t miss the chance to meet his Reindeer on December 13th. The popular Holiday Trolley Light Tours will take place again, and children can deposit Letters to the North Pole in the mailbox display. The Grinch will be on hand for breakfast and your canine family member can have their picture taken with him as well during Dog Photos with the Grinch. In January we are hosting Winterfest at the Springbrook Nature Center, there will be outdoor and indoor activities for all age groups, along with skating on an “Iceless Ice Rink”! As winter comes to an end, we embrace Spring and prepare for the Bunny hiding eggs and candy for children and adults at our hunts. As you can see, there is something to do every month during the winter season.
I would like to congratulate the Itasca Senior Citizens Club, with 147 members, on the celebration of their 60th anniversary! For 60 years, members have been an integral part of our community. You will find the Active Adults programs in the guide developed with them in mind as they are our cross-country travelers. Lastly, the Itasca Historical Depot is celebrating its 150th Anniversary! Stop in and see what Itasca History is all about. I hope that you will be able to attend the events, programs and classes that help us get through the winter and into next spring; it will make the three months fly by!
Linda Aiani President, Itasca Park District Board of Commissioners

Trap
a Leprechaun Do you have the luck of the Irish on your side to catch Itasca’s mischievous leprechaun? The Park District has the inside scoop and knows when the leprechaun will be running around Itasca, leaving a trail of green items and even some gold coins in people’s front yards. Set a trap in your front lawn and see if you can catch him! Don’t be surprised if he leaves green items and trinkets to find, along with some gold coins around your trap. Make sure traps are set out in the front lawn on Friday, March 15th between 12-3pm. This program is limited to Itasca Park District and Village Residents. If you are an Itasca Village resident but not a Park District resident, call the office at 630.773.2257 for assistance. (ER) DAY

Little Traveler- around the world in 36 rooms! Today, downtown Geneva is known as one of the most unique shopping districts in the Midwest, maintaining a tradition of hospitality, charm, and character. The Little Traveler has remained the cornerstone of this tradition. The shop has grown considerably since the original Italianate Victorian residence (which now serves as the center section of the shop) to thirty-six rooms of treasures. You’ll be greeted by a caring staff and amazed by the never-ending array of items brought back by our modern-day little travelers. It all started as a simple idea and evolved into a one-of-a-kind shopping experience. Still locally owned and operated, The Little Traveler is a Geneva landmark that has been enjoyed for generations. Participants can shop the treasures in all 36 rooms after lunch in their Atrium Café, as well as time to explore downtown Geneva. Lunch and transportation included. (ER) AGE: 40yrs+ DAY
