Have fun learning while making nature themed related crafts with your child. Each day will be a new set of crafts based on a different theme. Parent participation is required.
Lil’ Sprouts is a one-of-a-kind program in the area that is built upon fostering your child’s excitement and enthusiasm of the natural world. It will encourage their growth and learning about the world around them. The curriculum is structured around authentic experiences that will have the children exploring nature with opportunities for play-based learning, art, music, dramatic play, stories, and so much more. Math, language arts, and reading are also incorporated into the curriculum. Come and experience “The Natural Way of Learning!” Limited to 6 participants per month.

Nature Story Corner Settle in and get comfortable as we read a variety of nature based stories. Stories may be accompanied by puppets and audience participation as we learn about the wonders of nature! After the story we will hike into the forest to do a themed activity based on the story. Budding Adventures Calling all kids and parents! Discover the awakening of the spring plants and animals. Through various hands-on activities such as crafts, games, stories, puppets, hikes and more we will learn about plant-life, animals and their homes, weather, and more. Nature can inspire all sorts of creativity! Explore your artistic side and create some amazing art using natural materials. Paint with twigs, make stamps with leaves and create some all natural art right here in the preserve.

Nature Noises Take a walk in the woods with a naturalist and listen to the sounds of nature, from birds songs to babbling brooks. Get inspired by nature and create your own musical instruments using natural and recycled materials. A short hike will be included, followed by an all natural jam session. Musicians are encouraged to bring thier own recyclables to use.

100-mile Hike Club Ready for a challenge? Come hike a hundred miles, register for our hikes throughout the year and earn credit miles to earn a T-shirt, patch, and more. Membership to the club is free, but each hike may have a small fee. Any naturalist led hike counts toward your credit miles. A staff signature is required for credit.

RibbonWalk Volunteer Day with Charlotte Sierra Club Join Park and Rec and the Sierra Club as we fight invasive species at the beautiful RibbonWalk Preserve. Other duties may include light trail work and trash clean-up. Come out and take ownership of your preserve!. Tools and gloves provided but bring your own if you have them. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
