I feel compelled to respond to the anonymous letter that was printed in last week’s issue. How blessed we are to be living in a country where we are free to not only have an opinion, but to voice it as well, albeit, anonymously. I read the editorial you wrote discussing the exhibition

of rude behavior displayed at so many of the town meetings regarding health care. Unless I no longer comprehend the English language, it had nothing to do with gun control, but rather the despicable manner that we as a society treat each other. The absence of social graces, manners, and respect for woman and mankind is rampant. It is more toxic than cancer and equally as destructive. Perhaps this in itself is the cause of so much that is ailing our world. We are a civilization without being civilized and belong to the human race sans the humane part. We no

longer value each other or the wonderful possibilities that come out of connecting with humanity, positive or negative. We hide behind the Internet, texting, etc. as a means of communicating, rather than interacting in a civilized, meaningful fashion. Consequently, our social skills have atrophied. Vicious, hurtful words that attack on a personal level are the rule rather than the exception. This is evidenced by the cowardly manner in which that letter was delivered and the sentiment with which it was written. As far as I am concerned, you are better off with enemies than a “lovely friendship” this individual claims to have with you. Perhaps this individual would fare better if more time was spent on the delivery of her/his opinion, developing a little compassion, and spending more time enhancing the world rather than tearing it down. In light of the protests in Vermont by members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, we, Christian leaders from Vermont’s Evangelical and Charismatic Churches, wish to publicly state that we do NOT identify with, agree with, condone, support or endorse the conduct and rhetoric of these protestors. Their message of hatred of various groups of people is counter-productive and blatantly unChristian. Although they have the freedom to protest, their use of hate speech, name calling, and intimidation is unacceptable. The Bible tells us, “Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil.” (I Peter 2:16). Jesus Christ reminds us that God’s second greatest command is to “love your neigh-

bor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39) Consequently, we want to go on record that unlike the Westboro Baptist protestors, we love our Jewish neighbors and are opposed to all forms of antiSemitism. We love our neighbors who serve in the Vermont Legislature, state government, and town offices even though we may not always agree with their political views and decisions. And, although we may not endorse some of their beliefs and practices, we love our neighbors who identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and questioning. We oppose all attempts to incite hatred and violence against them. We decry any action or speech that is an attack on the value of any individual as a person made in the image of God. Every person has value in God’s eyes and value as our neighbor. Wallingford Memorial Rotary Club sponsored their first lobster bake in 1997. It has become their annual fundraiser. There will also be a cash raffle. The Lobster Bake will be held at the Wallingford Lodge, Elfin Lake, on Sunday, September 20, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Proceeds to benefit MRUHS scholarships, Bike Safety Day and other Community projects. Cost is $25 per person (steak can be ordered for those who do not want lobster). The dinner includes salads, corn, dessert and coffee and hot or iced tea. BYOB. Tickets may be pre-purchased. Jeffrey R. MacEachron has been promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Air Force. He recently arrived for duty at the 66th Air Base Wing at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA, to serve as the Inspector General. As the IG, MacEachron oversees Inspector General complaints, fraud, waste, and abuse, and compliance programs for the Electronics Systems Center, and the Department of Defense’s command and control Center of Excellence, responsible for more than 10,000 personnel, 250 programs, and an annual budget of more than $4 billion. He investigates complaints and performs trend analysis and ensures compliance with policies and directives involving 25 locations. Col. MacEachron has served in the military for 22 years. He is the son of Robert and Marlene MacEachron of E. Quaker St., Granville, NY.

SVAC Mourns the Passing of Dominick Dunne It was with deep sadness and fond memories that the Board of Directors and staff of the Southern Vermont Arts Center noted the passing, on August 26, of best selling author, celebrity journalist, film and television producer, television host and frequent guest speaker in the Arts Center’s Voices of Our Times series, Dominick Dunne. “Dominick was, really, a great friend of the Arts Center and of Manchester itself,” said Christopher Madkour, SVAC’s Executive Director. “He always seemed moved and even a little surprised by the overwhelming reception his talks and booksignings garnered. They sold out in hours, you could almost literally hear a pin drop when he spoke, and he’d always be surrounded by fans afterwards.” Dunne was best known, of late, as a chronicler of “celebrity trials,” - O.J. Simpson (twice), the Menendez Brothers, Claus von Bulow, Michael Skakel, et al - but more rightly, he was a man determined to stand up for the victims of the wealthy and notorious. His first piece of the sort, in 1982, covered the trial of the man who killed his own daughter, the actress Dominque Dunne. That piece, in Vanity Fair, gave rise to his long running VF column, Dominick Dunne’s Diary. Dunne’s August 2001 appearance at the Arts Center focused on his recollections of the then ongoing Michael Skakel murder trial - Skakel would be convicted in 2002 of the 1975 slaying of his Greenwich, Connecticut, neighbor, Martha Moxley - and he discussed the evening’s

“surprise ending” in his Vanity Fair diary of October, 2001: “When I spoke at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester in midAugust, I talked about Michael Skakel and the current state of the case.” “In the audience, I found to my utter astonishment, was the soon-to-be-divorced wife of Michael Skakel, about whom I had been talking, and not in a flattering way… She said, ‘My name is spelled without the t.’ referring to the several times I had spelled her name ‘Margot’ in [Vanity Fair]. I couldn’t think of what to say, because we were in a crush of people, and someone was pulling on me to go to the booksigning table. There were so many things I wanted to ask her, but instead, in that overwrought moment, I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek an awkward and perhaps inappropriate gesture which embarrassed us both.” “It was Dominick, actually, who convinced his friend, the late Kitty Carlisle Hart, to take part in our Arts for Living series in ‘03,” said Madkour. “He was scheduled to come back up two years ago but had to cancel due to delays in the Phil Spector murder trial in California. We were trying to re-book when the second O.J. Simpson trial came along - he’d been diagnosed with bladder cancer by then but was determined to see Simpson sentenced to prison for something - and the rest is history.”

Opera Theatre of Weston Hosts ‘September Soiree’ at the Inn at Weston

Community Center Golf Outing

The Fifth Annual Castleton Community Center Golf Outing is scheduled for Friday, September 25 at the Lake St. Catherine Country Club. All proceeds from this event are used for the Center’s Senior and Disabled Transportation program. Over 4900 rides were provided last year for essential travel to doctor’s appointments, nursing homes, adult day care and food or clothing shopping. The CCC transportation program is a vital service for seniors and disabled residents of western Rutland County. Area businesses, individuals and organizations are invited to act as sponsors for the event. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor or in joining a foursome can call the Center for information. The tournament is an 18 hole handicap scramble for four person teams. The entry fee of $105 per person includes 18 holes of golf, cart, gifts, prizes, dinner and a chance to win the $10,000 hole in one prize. PVFGA Celebrates the 2009 National Hunting and Fishing Day

The Precision Valley Fish and Game Association invites all to come and celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day Sunday, September 27 at their outdoor range in Perkinsville on Route 106. Gates will open at 10:00 a.m. for a fun-filled day of shooting sports with free admission including trap shooting, muzzle-loader, cowboy action and pistol shooting. A private handgun collection from the Thomas Platt Family will be on display. There will be a barbecue on site provided at a nominal charge and a homemade pie sale. Cash raffle with a first prize of $500 will be drawn on site. Ruger will provide firearms and ammunition for this event. More about the club: Originally formed more than 70 years ago, the Precision Valley Fish and Game Association is an NRA affiliated sporting organization based in Perkinsville, Vermont. ‘Thoroughly Modern Milkshakes’ at J.K. Adams Kitchen Store

Join us on Saturday September 19th at 1:00 p.m., for a special appearance and demonstration by Adam Ried as he prepares most unusual recipes from his book, “Thoroughly Modern Milkshakes”. Adam is best known as “the keeper of the Equipment Corner” on America’s Test Kitchen. He is also a cast member on the new TV show Cook’s Country, which aired with its first season in September 2008. During his 10 years as an editor for Cook’s Illustrated, Adam developed and edited recipes, wrote feature stories, and contributed to many other sections of the magazine, including the popular Quick Tips. Moreover, Adam bore primary responsibility for the highly respected kitchen equipment testing and ingredient tasting features at “Cook’s Illustrated”. Now a contributor to “Cook’s Country” magazine and the cooking columnist for the “Sunday Boston Globe Magazine”, Adam has taught cooking and food writing; written for local, national, and international publications; and consulted for restaurants and kitchen equipment manufacturers. He is a graduate of Macalester College and the culinary certificate program at Boston University. Adam was recently featured on The Today Show whipping up some of his famous concoctions from his new book. During this free demonstration, Adam will make and sample out three milkshakes including; Orange Blossom Honey, Stupendous Strawberry, and Shake de l’Opera. New Sessions of French Language Courses

Blue Jean Ball Coming in October

Misty Valley Books in Chester will again offer two levels of French classes beginning the week of September 21. The Learn French courses will run for six weeks, intermediates on Mondays, beginning September 21, and beginners on Tuesdays, beginning September 22. Both courses are open to students high school age and older and will meet in the bookstore from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Instructor for the courses is Bill Reed, co-proprietor with his wife, Lynne, of Misty Valley Books, on the Chester Green next to the Fullerton Inn. A graduate of Yale University, he has taught in Africa, France and, for more than 35 years, in public and private schools and colleges in Vermont. Both courses will rely on films, games and songs in an approach that is lighthearted and conversational. Nearly 200 students in small groups (class size is limited) have taken the courses in the past two years. The fee includes materials. Anyone Can Help with Taxes AARP Tax Aide Seeks New Counselors

You could help your older neighbors with their tax returns…all it takes is a commitment and a little training. AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest free volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service, is seeking volunteers to assist in tax preparation in Windham County and surrounding areas. Volunteers of all backgrounds are welcome; you do not need to be an AARP member nor a retiree. No prior experience in tax preparation is necessary and volunteers of all ages are welcome. Computer familiarity is necessary. Tax counselors receive free tax training and become IRS certified by passing the IRS exam. They help residents one-on-one at tax sites in their own communities across Vermont. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and help others in your community. Last year in Vermont, some 130 AARP TaxAide volunteers helped more than 5,000 Vermont taxpayers at sites across the state. A leadership position for communications is also open on the management team. This volunteer would manage and coordinate statewide and regional program communication activities as well as working with local companies that support the program. Although tax training and certification is encouraged, it is not required for this position. Laptops Needed: The program is also looking for Vermont businesses that may be able to donate old laptops or printers. “If businesses are upgrading equipment and have laptop computers that they don’t use anymore, we can really put them to good use,” says AARP Tax-Aide State Coordinator Walt Keating. Nature’s Bounty Art Show Opens September 11

Nature’s Bounty, an exhibit of art work by Elizabeth Cockey and Robert Sydorowich, opens at Gardenworks on Friday, September 11 in the Gardenworks’ Barn Gallery. There will be a free reception that evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The two artists paint and sketch local rural scenes. The exhibit continues until October 20. Elizabeth Cockey grew up in Greenwich and has recently returned to the area on a part-time basis. Cockey, an art therapist in Baltimore, paints local architecture and the rolling hills of nearby farms. She uses

bright colors and broad brush strokes to bring local landscapes to life. Recently she and her husband teamed up to publish two books about the beauty and simplicity of Washington County. Robert Sydorowich paints the Vermont countryside, where he has lived for forty years. Lately, he has been painting in the Salem area in preparation for this show. In his watercolors, Sydorowich captures images of small town life. His work portrays real places, real people and real life situations. Sydorowich studied art and architecture at the Pratt Institute. GMC Feick Arts Center to Feature Art Faculty

Faculty members in the Green Mountain College art program kick off the academic year with a show at the Feick Fine Arts Center. Exhibitors include Jennifer Baker, Karen Swyler, Jonathan Taylor, Richard Weinstein and Dick Weis. The faculty exhibit opened September 7. An artist reception will be held at the Feick on September 10 from 4-6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Prof. Jennifer Baker (arts & sciences) holds a Master’s of Arts degree in medical and biological illustration from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design from San Jose State University. She recently returned from a sabbatical focused in part on developing a partnership between GMC and the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in West Rutland. Prof. Karen Swyler (art) regularly exhibits her ceramic work across the country. Her pieces have been featured in recent shows including “Functional Art,” a three-person show at Celadon Gallery in Water Mill, New York. and a two person show: “Pat Swyler & Karen Swyler: Mother/ Daughter” at M.T. Burton Gallery in Surf City, New Jersey. Adjunct professor of photography Jonathan Taylor holds a BA from Marlboro College, and has completed graduate work at institutions including the University of Vermont and Columbia College of Art. Prof. Richard Weinstein (fine art) maintains his work with the Cove Gallery in Wellfleet, Massachusetts and the John Rugg Gallery on Nantucket. He holds a MFA in painting from the University of Florida. Prof. Dick Weis (fine art) was recently accepted as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Art and will be on the Fulbright Specialist roster for the next five years. He runs Otherweis Limited with his wife, Nancy Weis, as an umbrella for their studio work in painting, drawing, printmaking, fibers, handmade paper and installation and for their work as artisteducators. The faculty exhibit will be on display through October 2. The Feick Fine Arts Center is open to the public Monday through Friday from 1-5 p.m. There is no admission charge.

Arlington Garden Club Meeting

The speaker will be Steve Burzon, founder/owner of Garden Arts Custom Landscapes and Nursery Outlets in Danby, Vermont. Steve is a creative garden and landscape designer who has become widely-known as the originator of the “Vermont All-Season Color Garden.” which is the intriguing subject of his Arlington presentation. He is a published writer and popular speaker on garden design and landscape sustainability issues, and spoke recently on local television on how to avoid invasive plants in your garden. He is a nationally-certified designer/installer of segmental retaining walls and interlocking pavers. Author Mark Jodoin to Speak at Historic Salem Courthouse On Thursday, September 10 at 7:30 p.m., the Salem Courthouse Community Center in association with Salem Historian, Al Cormier, will commence its third History Lecture Series with a fascinating lecture presented by Mark Jodoin. Mr. Jodoin, a resident of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada has graciously agreed to appear and speak about his new book “Shadow Soldiers of the American Revolution — Loyalist Tales from New York to Canada”. A heritage writer who focuses on the history of the American northeast and central Canada, his special interest is the period of history between the North American French and Indian Wars of the mid 1700’s through the American Revolutionary War. Mr. Jodoin spent time in Salem and the surrounding region while researching the subject matter of his new book and has a special fondness for the area. At home, he is the President of the Rideau Historical Society and serves many worthy causes including The Ottawa Hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors and foster parenting through the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa. The eighteenth-century shadow soldiers came from families who, over several generations, helped to develop an expand America’s largest colony, New York. The only crime of these dedicated individuals was a loyalty and strong support for the losing side of the Revolution. History condemned them as Tories, Royalists or King’s Men, and they were forced to forfeit everything for which they worked so diligently including their good name. Lauded as heroes in England and Canada, not much is known or remembered about these loyal British Americans in our country today. Mr. Jodoin’s book tells the tale of eleven shadow soldiers, young men and women whose allegiance and resolve cost them everything held dear. Please join us for this lecture for which there is no admission fee. However, donations are always gladly accepted and appreciated. Alone & Afoot – The Long Trail in 1940

R. C. Anderson, resident of Mt. Holly, will give a talk on Sunday, September 13 at 4 p.m., in the Mt. Holly Library. Mr. Anderson will speak about his experiences as one of the very first to hike the Long Trail and consequently one of the first “end-to-enders”. The Long Trail is the oldest long-distance trail in the United States, constructed between 1910 and 1930 by the Green Mountain Club. As a 1940 graduate of Middlebury College, R.C. was commissioned to hike the trail and take pictures of the various shelters along the way. His experience was later chronicled in the book “Footpath in the Wilderness”. This now out-ofprint guide to the trail includes chapters written by George Aiken and notable hikers of the era. Anderson will discuss what the trail was like in those early days, long before modern amenities. These were unique times in our history and R.C. encountered many interesting people through his connection to the college and the trail. Golf Tourney for Care Net

Care Net Pregnancy Center of the Tri State Area located at 109 Silver Street in downtown Bennington will be hosting their first annual Best Ball Scramble Golf Tournament Fundraiser on Monday October 5, at 12:30 p.m. A shotgun start opens the tournament with a light buffet supper and prize ceremony to follow. The entry fee is $100 per person and includes greens fees, two golf carts per team, prizes and light buffet style dinner. The tournament will be held at Mount Anthony Country Club located on Bank Street in Bennington. All proceeds will benefit Care Net Pregnancy Center. After a one-night only sold out musical revue performance in April 2008, The Dorset Players are proud to present “Come to the Cabaret”. This show kicks off a series of exciting fundraising events geared towards raising money for the water diversion project. During the spring of 2008 torrential downpours, coupled with snowmelt, flooded the basement of the Dorset Playhouse. Over 20,000 gallons of water entered the rehearsal hall, the prop room, the orchestra pit, and other storage areas. The rehearsal floor, furniture, props, and many costumes were ruined. Many hours of volunteer work went into repairing the damage, but there is still work to be done. Beck Engineering has since designed a plan to divert future flood water and prevent it from ruining this historic landmark. This is where you come in. Please join us for an evening of popular showtunes featuring local favorites Peter Langstaff, Willie Ferrone, Bob Fry, Mark McChesney, Linda Hueckel, Julie Citron, and Anne D’Olivo. These talented singers will be performing musical numbers from Cabaret, Guys and Dolls, Brigadoon, South Pacific, Oklahoma, West Side Story, and many more. Performances will be held Friday and Saturday, September 11 and 12 , at 7:30 p.m., at the Dorset Playhouse on Cheney Rd in Dorset, Vermont. Tickets are $20 apiece to be purchased at the door. Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) in Manchester will be celebrating their 42nd anniversary by getting dirty outside! Invasive plants such as shrubby honeysuckles, Japanese barberry and buckthorns have severely and negatively impacted the natural plant communities of the Equinox Preserve. The Collaborative Encourages Vermonters To Create Smoke-free Zones

The Vermont Department of Health wants to help Vermonters create smoke-free zones to protect both children and adults from being exposed to the dangers of secondhand smoke. As part of the statewide Smoke-Free Zone campaign, the Vermont Department of Health is airing two 60-second radio ads during August and September, and is collaborating with community tobacco-free coalitions. Locally, The Collaborative is sponsoring a pledge drive asking smokers to create a smoke free zone around children and pets. Pledge Card Packets are being distributed to school children in the Bennington Rutland Supervisory Union and the Windsor Southwest Supervisory Union, local veterinary clinics and kennels including Dr. Koch, Sykes Hollow Kennel and Aeolus Animal Hospital & Equine Center, and The Community Food Cupboard and Neighbor’s Pantry. According to the U.S. Surgeon General, no level of exposure to secondhand smoke is safe. Breathing secondhand smoke can cause heart disease and lung cancer in nonsmoking adults. In children, it increases the risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), acute respiratory infections, more severe bouts of asthma and more frequent ear infections. Many countries, states and towns are enacting comprehensive smoking bans. Recent studies show that these policies save lives, reduce medical costs and significantly reduce hospitalization for heart attacks. “The Collaborative is encouraged to see declining rates of exposure to secondhand smoke, but we still need to do more to protect the health of our fellow citizens, especially the youngest among us,” said Jennifer Flannery, Executive Director, The Collaborative. “Parents and caregivers can help because they are critical role models for children.’ An increasing number of Vermont smokers - and recent quitters - with children in the home have chosen to ban tobacco use in their homes and cars. Last year, 66 percent (up from 43 percent in 2001) banned smoking in their homes while 75 percent (up from 54 percent in 2001) banned it in their cars. Vermonters who are interested in learning more about smoke-free zones can log on to www.VTQuitNetwork. org. “Parents and other caregivers care deeply about the health and well-being of children, and the Vermont Department of Health and partner organizations has developed strategies to help them” said Health Commissioner Wendy Davis, MD. “We’re proud of the work community-based anti-tobacco coalitions are doing to encourage all Vermonters to make their environments smoke-free.” Civic organizations and towns across Vermont are taking action on a local level against secondhand smoke. Refuse to Use Kick Off

The Refuse to Use Kick Off is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, from 1:30-3:00 p.m., in the Burr and Burton Academy Gymnasium. This is a mandatory event for students wishing to participate in Refuse to Use. Students must attend with a parent/guardian or caring adult. Doors open at 1p.m. and no one will be admitted after the presentation has begun. This year’s presenter is Michael Nerney, a professional in drug and alcohol prevention. He will speak on alcohol, adolescence and the brain. The Refuse to Use program is a prevention program to encourage students in grades 7-12 from Burr and Burton Academy, Flood Brook Union School, Long Trail School, Manchester Elementary Middle School, Maple Street School, and The Dorset School to choose to be and stay substance free. Students take a pledge to be substance free, parents, guardians or caring adults take a pledge to support their child, students participate in five prevention-education workshops (two of these must be attended by a parent, guardian or caring adult) and in exchange students receive a season pass to Stratton Mountain, Riley Rink or Viking Nordic Center for a small administrative fee of $35 (scholarships available). Arts from the Heart Returns to Circle of Healing

Arts from the Heart is a biannual celebration of the healing power of creativity and community. This dynamic event, sponsored by the Circle of Healing in Pawlet, is a vibrant one-night show that will benefit the Circle of Healing, a non-profit healing collaborative. Nuclear Power and Climate Change

Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning presents Nuclear Power and Climate Change with Professor Peter Bradford on Monday, September 14 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. This lecture will take place at Israel Congregation in Manchester Center, Vermont. Professor Bradford will review the potential of new nuclear plants to combat climate change, including discussion of the economic and other obstacles to building new nuclear plants to make a substantial difference. Bradford is a former member of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission and former chair of the New York and Maine utility regulatory commissions. He has taught at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and currently is an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School teaching “Nuclear Power and Public Policy.” He also served on the Vermont Public Oversight Panel on the ongoing reliability audit of the Vermont Yankee nuclear power plant. Button Up Vermont Seeks Towns to Host Free Energy Saving Workshops

Button Up Vermont is gearing up for a new series of free home energy saving workshops throughout the state this fall However, towns need to sign up now if they want to host one of these sessions and offer their residents the opportunity to learn how to save energy and heating costs in their homes. Button Up Vermont plans to visit 100 communities, at no charge, but slots are filling up fast. “Fuel prices may be down from a year ago, but many Vermonters can still save a bundle of money by keeping their heat where it belongs - in the house!” explains Button Up Coordinator Paul Markowitz. Button Up Vermont is looking for town energy committees, educational centers, civic groups, and other organizations to help organize local workshops. Specially trained energy auditors will lead these two hour sessions showing where buildings lose heat, how to seal air leaks and other conservation measures. These presenters will bring samples of energy saving materials, a slide show, free educational and reference materials for everyone attending, as well as a short video for people interested in do-it-yourself energy saving opportunities. Farms Open their Doors and Pastures to the Public!

Rural Vermont will host its second annual Raw Milk Open Farm Day on Sunday, September 13 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. On this day, raw milk dairies all across the state will be open to the public for tours, tastings, and business! This is a free event, but bring some cash (and a cooler) because raw milk will be available for purchase at every stop. Raw Milk Open Farm Day is a statewide celebration of the wholesome, delicious raw milk that will revitalize the micro-dairy in Vermont! At every farm, visitors will be welcomed with tours, raw milk samples, and old-fashioned friendly conversation. Each farm will offer a slightly different experience, with some of last year’s highlights including wagon rides, a cider pressing demonstration, and live music, in addition to lots of homemade and wholesome goodies that naturally pair with milk. The Manchester Triton’s Swim Team worked hard this summer for a nearly undefeated 5 and 1 season. Thirty team records were shattered this year. A full third of the team qualified for the Vermont State Swim Championships held at the North Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, VT. Swimmers ranging in ages 6 to 19 brought the team within points of a second place division finish at the State Swim Championships. Coach Rich Marchetti was thrilled with their 3rd place win and felt this was one of the greatest teams he has ever coached. ________________________________________________

Auditions!

The Granville Players will be holding auditions for their fall production of D.D. Brooke’s stage adaption of “Rehearsal for Murder”, which starred Robert Preston and Lynne Redgrave. The play centers around Alex Dennison, a playwright whose fiancee, Monica Welles, is murdered following her opening night performance of Alex’s new play. The show opens a year later, as Alex has assembled everyone involved with the play to the same theater to read his new play, which is a device to catch Monica’s killer.
