Germany – ‘Intercultural Barometer’ At Federal level, the National Action Plan for Integration of 31 January 2012 inter alia mandates a systematic compilation of reliable data on access to art, cultural participation and cultural creativity by persons with and without a history of migration. This first ‘Intercultural Barometer’ (‘Interkultur- barometer’) is funded jointly by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media and by the Federal States (Länder) Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. Initial findings and figures on the cultural participation of persons with and without a history of migration were presented in spring 2012.

EXAMPLE

Germany/Lower Saxony – ‘Cultural monitoring’ In 2012, the Federal State (Land) Lower Saxony commissioned a comprehensive cultural monitoring study in order to obtain a valid database on the use and non-use of cultural offerings. This study supplements the evaluation of visitors to the Lower Saxony State museums and State Theatre that is contractually stipulated under the State’s cultural promotion scheme. Its findings will be presented by the end of 2012.
