1ST NEWSLETTER 67TH IPSF WORLD CONGRESS

ABOUT EGYPT

Egypt is not a country we live in but a country that lives within us. Pope Shenouda III

“Where the story begins and beyond”... Egypt, being one of the oldest countries in the world, has always been known to be the cradle of civilization, where history began and where it continues to be made. The Pharaohs have done an excellent job at setting our standards high in everything creative wise and development wise especially in the medical and pharmacological departments with their mind-blowing mummification method which still leaves people in awe in our present-day as well as their remedies derived from plant life and their ability to heal themselves in ways we are still discovering today.

We here in EPSF, Egypt would like to take you beyond that, to our present-day civilization, to all the history we are currently making, to the development in all aspects of life. Most importantly, on the medical and pharmaceutical front.

The Pharaohs have used 'The Eye of Horus' as a symbol of healing, well-being, and protection. This is what we hope to present to you during your stay at The 67th IPSF World Congress, Hurghada, Egypt, 2022 with a modernized twist to it. You will get the chance to see where Egypt stood and where it currently stands in history-making. You will get the chance to explore our beautiful country filled with breathtaking landmarks, mouth-watering cuisines, and intriguing places where the old meets the new all while enriching your pharmaceutical knowledge. Not to mention the already given fact of having fun and making new friends from around the globe!

What makes this IPSF World Congress extra special is the fact that IPSF has not held one in-person in 2 years. So EPSF, Egypt is honoured to host such a wonderful community in August 2022 and is more than excited for everyone to experience the hospitality of the land of the Pharaohs!

Hurghada is one of Egypt’s oldest main tourist attractions on the Red Sea Coast. It derived its name from an ancient Egyptian plant that grew there naturally and has grown to now be known for not just its waters and warm weather but also its nightlife. The Stella Makadi Gardens is in the Makadi Bay area on the Red Sea Riviera with a white sandy beach and the perfect mix of charming, and modern. It will provide the best summer vibes that will energize our minds and souls enough to receive our educational and scientific content, but not too much as to kill the fun.

VENUE

Now, you may be wondering where this wonderful event will be held, let us tell you… The accommodation location / venue is set to be at the beautiful Stella Gardens Resort & Spa, Hurghada!

We recommend you set your arrival at the Hurghada International Airport since it is located 30 minutes away from the resort and we will be providing transportation to and from this airport if requested by participants for an additional fee.

If however, you find that you will be landing at the Cairo International Airport, you could find several transportation options like swvl, GoBus, gettransfer, etc that would probably take around 7 hours to reach Hurghada and the venue. Assistance and guidance will be provided upon request.

LEADERS IN TRAINING To kick off our amazing event, we need to start with one of IPSF's most developing programs which is 'Leaders In Training’ (LIT). Have you ever wondered How the construction of the Pyramids could teach modern-day leaders about being successful? In a 4 days program, we will take participants on a journey to uncover the truth behind Pharaoh's power and reveal the key skills that one could learn from Egypt's Pharaohs. Just looking at the Pyramids makes it obvious to anyone how the Pharaohs were good communicators and leaders since building one of the 7 wonders reveals the strategic planning and project management skills that they had. Thinking of the construction process alone shows that it needed incredible teamwork. There’s no denying that the pharaohs probably had magnificent stress management skills that enabled them to complete such an impeccable project. And with the LIT, you will be trained to have the basics of all the skills necessary to pull off any project you lead, successfully.

Aside from all the fun we will be having, we need to focus on the event’s focal point, which is the Educational-Scientific Symposium under the theme “Role of pharmacist in patient safety and digital healthcare services”. As future pharmacists, we will be taking you on a journey to discover some of the most promising fields of pharmacy such as digital healthcare and its importance in enhancing the efficiency of healthcare delivery and making medicine more personalized and precise. As well as patient safety which has garnered much attention lately due to complexity in healthcare systems and the resulting rise of patient harm in healthcare facilities.

EDU-SCI SYMPOSIUM

We will be honored to have a handful of carefully selected speakers to deliver the captivating topics of the Symposium, such as Pharmacy history in Egypt, Digital healthcare industry over the world, and Patient safety between the past and future. One of our highlights would be a panel discussion on the topic “Pharmacy around the world”. Besides that, we will cover aspects of research applications in Egypt, as well as interesting and interactive workshops that will definitely get you excited!

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES Our finishing touch of a cherry on top will be the end of the day. So, after a long day of sessions and workshops, each day will end on a high note bringing you a whole new set of social activities. During this, you’ll get an opportunity to de-stress, play ice breakers, and make memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

PD EVENTS How does balance nourish your brain and keep your competitive side satisfied? IPSF is proud to have a set of Professional Development events held every year during IPSF World Congress and they are:

The Clinical Skills Event (CSE); is an opportunity for students to develop their pharmaceutical knowledge through competition. The competition requires their use of clinical skills to solve drug-related problems in the field of pharmaceutical science, which is one of the key duties of becoming future pharmacists.

The Patient Counseling Event (PCE); for this competition the improved professional knowledge and communication skills that we will provide are required for medication consultation. This is a competition where pharmacy students compete by showing their medication counseling ability by helping them acquire the necessary skills to effectively and efficiently communicate the right information to their patients.

The Industrial Skills Event (ISE); aims to help members understand and familiarize themselves with various fields of the pharmaceutical industry including marketing, research and development, and more. This will help the students be more aware of our career’s different pathways and inspire them to choose the one most suitable for them.

The Compounding Event (CE); since the special health needs are not being satisfied by the currently available mass-produced products, this event will help us take a step closer to personalized medicine and patient-centered care by highlighting the importance and necessity of compounding skills within the pharmacy profession.

POST CONGRESS TOUR

At the end of The IPSF World Congress, starts the euphoric experience of strolling through Egyptian streets where you will find civilizations imprinted on the customs and traditions of each Egyptian you encounter, all under the program of Post Congress Tour (PCT).

Our theme for the PCT is “Lotus Flower”. In ancient Egypt, it resembles creation and rebirth which signifies the IPSF World Congress being brought back in person. The three petals of the flower represent three main regions in which we’ll be conducting the PCT tours. Egypt has multiple countenances to manifest and that’s what we will be trying to deliver during your stay in Egypt. We are offering various packages that will include accommodation, transportation along with social activities during your stay to suit everyone for a customized experience:

Dahab; A Red Sea paradise in the desert. Dahab is an Arabic word that means ‘gold’ referring to its golden sand. The startling transformation from Bedouin outpost to spruced-up tourist village is not without its detractors, who reminisce fondly of the days when beach bums dossed in basic huts by the shore. Spending your time in the small town of Dahab is one of the most extraordinary experiences you will ever have. The beauty and charm of the place are what make it the ideal place for relaxation, tranquility, and a sense of adventure. If you’re looking to chill and enjoy Egypt’s beaches and resorts, then this package is most suitable for you.

Luxor and Aswan; Throughout its history, Luxor has been known as Thebes, the great capital of the Egyptian Empire; Waset, meaning "City of the Sceptre"; Ta ipet which meant "The shrine"; the "City of 100 Gates" and many other names. The name Luxor comes from the Arabic word for "Palaces". Home to one-third of the world’s monuments and landmarks. As well as having a fascinating history, Aswan remains to this day a busy commercial and tourism centre. One of the reasons for this is its famous Dams, which have had a significant effect on Egypt's economic and cultural development, and which are often included on tours of the city's sights. Aswan is also the location of the ancient stone quarries from which the pyramids, statues, and other monuments were created. If you’re someone who’s invested in ancient Egypt with a touch of the Nile, heritage, and folklore, then you’ll enjoy this package.

Capitol Cairo; One of the world's largest cities; with 4000-year-old monuments. Strolling through the streets of Cairo, you will be amazed by all the different eras melting together in unison to create an amazing cultural and tourist attraction site. Only in Cairo, will you find landmarks constructed on top of old ones. Cairo is the only city that still has a remaining ancient wonder of the world. Housing the largest food court in the world, you can taste the history and culture of each traditional Egyptian dish. Cairo offers both the old and the modern world served beautifully. If your main attraction is exploration, sightseeing, and getting to know Egypt's both modern and ancient phases, then this package is certainly the right choice for you.

Visa, flight, and COVID-19 Now that we have successfully caught your attention and you are ready to apply for The 67th IPSF World Congress, here is some information about the visa and COVID-19 situation:

Egypt is one of the easiest and most affordable countries to visit. Some countries are exempted from having a visa while other countries require you to apply for their visa online which is more convenient and eases the process. We will be providing Invitation Letters upon request for the participants to further facilitate their applications. Most countries have direct flights to Egypt at suitable prices.

As for the COVID-19 situation in Egypt, all you need for your visa application is a vaccination certificate or a PCR test within 72 hours of arrival from a certified laboratory with a QR code if you haven’t been vaccinated. We will be following COVID-19 protocol to ensure the safety of the participants throughout the event. Due to all its precautions, Egypt has become one of the safest countries and is recording fewer cases by the day.

Egypt has taken its tourism a step further by creating an online application on visitegypt.gov.eg, which may require VPN or VPN360 to open, that all visitors need to fill out to receive a QR code required for country entry.
