Dollars raised by the Iowa Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary and from the ILH Westerberg Celebration recently made a huge impact for children and adolescents in the Iowa Lutheran Behavioral Health Unit, which provides assessment, inpatient, outpatient and aftercare services for children and adolescents (ages 4-18) experiencing difficulty at home, school or in the community. Extensive remodeling provided much needed upgrades to this unit. Patient rooms received new windows, freshly painted walls and bathrooms with new sinks, toilets and unbreakable mirrors. “It’s now such a great area that is safe and so pleasant for patients and staff,” says Courtney Fuller, RN for the unit. New cabinets with lockable doors created secure space for books, movies and games in the lounge area. New tables, chairs and kitchen countertops also make an improved place for patient meals and snacks.
