My gosh, another year has flown by and it’s 8-plus years since Thurman & Onetta purchased McGinnis Appliance from Fred and Patsy McGinnis. On March 4th, 2004, Thurman, Craig Richey, C.L. Fulton and a host of friends started to remodel the store. On April 4th, the store reopened with a full lineup of Maytag & Amana appliances. C.L. focused mainly on service and Craig on deliveries of new and used appliances and Thurman on service and store operations. In 2006 LG (Life’s Good) televisions were added to the lineup. They won’t be the cheapest price around but there is a difference in quality, even within the same company and we will deliver and install and teach you how to operate your new state-of-the-art television. Also, we service all LG TVs bought from us. Electrolux and Frigidaire appliances were added to the mix in 2007. Everything is available from entryline models, to the newest, latest features in dishwashers, laundry, refrigerators and ranges. Even other brand names are available by special order. We are a service company
that sells appliances. In addition to C.L. and Craig, Jerry Jones, installation and appliance repair technician, joined the crew in 2006. Mandy Middleton started in 2008 as office secretary, with many, many other duties added along the way. Blake Boone came on board in 2012, mainly helping Craig with deliveries, stocking and organizing incoming inventory and making sure the showroom is full of all the latest new appliances. Oftentimes we have over 500 appliances available for immediate delivery! We look forward to a continuing personal relationship with all our present and future customers! Our goal is that our customers will have a pleasant experience at Flynn Appliance & Hi-Def Center.

Bennett Coin Laundry has been in business for 40 years in Iola, 34 of those in its current building which they built in 1976. Margaret and Susie Bennett share the duties of day-to-day operations. Although severely damaged by the summer
cooktops, under-the-counter icemakers and wine coolers are available. A good part of our business and sales is driven by service. Our normal trade area is basically a 20-mile radius around Iola. We repair all major brands under warranty and out of warranty regardless of where or when they were purchased.

If you haven’t taken a short drive lately to enjoy a meal at The Country Diner, it’s high time you did! Ed and Nancy Ellington have been the owners/ operators of The Country Diner since September 1999. The Ellingtons have several full-time employees plus some high school students who work part-time. Don Murray’s crew at D & R has a reputation of being dependable and knowing their stuff which really keeps them busy! Don Murray first started his plumbing and heating business in 1963. He had acquired 15 years of experience working for a firm in Piqua and Bud Anderson Plumbing in Iola. In 1972, Don entered into a partnership to form D & R Plumbing & Electric, Inc., which Don became sole owner of in 1991. Call D & R for installation, parts and repairs. Their field of expertise covers plumbing, heating (including steam and hot water boilers) and air conditioning. Business hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
