IN EVERY PERSON’S LIFE, THERE ARE ONLY FEW DECISIONS THAT CAN CHANGE THE COURSE OF IT. One of those decisions is where and what to study. It is always an exciting and important step, especially now, when one can get education in any country of the world! Nowadays India’s economy is rapidly growing and its international relations continue to develop. This leads to an increasing need for educated specialists in medicine, aviation, energetics, information technologies, food industry and so on. As they say: there is no professional without a proper education. I would like to invite you to Ukraine, as today this country offers truly endless educational opportunities. As education has always been an integral part of Ukraine’s development, our nation has established a well-developed and ramified system of national education, recognized worldwide. Specialists, who obtain professional education in Ukraine, are valued and properly paid around the world. Not to mention that many Indian graduates from Ukrainian universities remain in this country and start their business here. We are looking forward to meeting you in Ukraine. This is an outstanding intercultural experience and a great career start.

Education has always been an integral part of Ukraine’s development. Specialists, who received professional education in Ukraine, are valued and properly paid.

What are the words you describe your future with?

proaktive_katalog_15_without pantone.indd 3

DO YOU DREAM OF HAVING THE KNOWLEDGE TO START AND DEVELOP YOUR BUSINESS? Or do you associate your future with bright perspectives, respectable income, and, of course, professional success and recognition? If either of those words sound synonymous to the future of your dreams, you have to think of getting a proper higher education. Education abroad gives you experience and opportunities, which are completely different from those you get in your home country. It is a kind of studying when learning goes beyond classrooms. The student gets a chance to master foreign languages, learn new cultures, lifestyles and gain international work experience as well. The latter is especially important, when it comes to getting a good job. International experience is always a big advantage. When you choose studying abroad, pay a special attention to Ukraine. This European country offers endless educational opportunities today. Students get quality education (recognized as one of the best in Europe, especially in the fields of medicine, aviation and technology) at the price that is noticeably lower than the cost of tuition fee in other European countries. Ukrainian universities often invite professors from Canada, USA and Great Britain to deliver lectures, thus giving students a chance to gain knowledge from both local and foreign specialists. This catalogue will help you choose a University in Ukraine, best suited to your interests, desired field of study and lifestyle preferences. I welcome you to Ukraine.

One gets a chance to master foreign languages, learn new cultures, lifestyles and gain international working experience as well.

Ukraine Ukraine is one of the most profitable markets for Tata In 2008, before the crisis, company reached some $17 million turnover

T

he story of the Ukrainian nation dates back to the early 9th century, when Ukraine was the center of East Slavic civilization. During that time a state, known as Kyivska Russ, was the most powerful in Eastern Europe, with a capital in Kyiv (present capital of Ukraine). Since that time and up to 20th century, Ukraine was divided among a number of countries and empires. Most part of 20th century Ukraine was a part of Soviet Union and was considered leading technical, economical and scientific centre. In 1991 Ukraine became an independent country and entered a period of transition to a market economy . Starting from 2000, more and more international companies and investors have been paying attention to Ukraine and the country has been showing a steady economic growth. The country is free of nuclear weapons, yet it has the 2nd largest army in Europe. The professional army supports Ukraine’s image as a key peacemaker in the world. Country’s troops were deployed in Kosovo, Lebanon, Sierra Leone, Iraq and other countries. Today Ukraine is a country of 46 million people. It shares borders with Russia, Belorus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania

proaktive_katalog_15_without pantone.indd 4

and Moldova. The Black Sea and Azov Sea wash the countries south coast. Ukraine is the world’s 44th largest country and 2nd largest state in Europe. Ukraine is recognized as the country offering unique opportunities for industrial, technological, trade and agricultural development. The World Bank certifies Ukraine as a middle-income state. In 2007 the Ukrainian stock market recorded the second world’s highest growth rate of 130%. Growing sector of the Ukrainian economy include: information technology market, agriculture, aviation and space research industries. Today Indian and Ukrainian ties are quite strong. Indian citizens in Ukraine have made a considerable impact on the commercial and cultural life of Ukraine. India is the largest exporter of pharmaceuticals to Ukraine. And Tata Motors takes up a 50% share of Ukrainian bus market. Products worth $422 million – mainly pharmaceuticals, chemicals, tea, spices, silk, machines and engines – were imported to Ukraine from India last year. After Russia, Ukraine is India’s second largest trading partner in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

The biggest and the most powerful planes in the world are produced in Ukraine The Antonov An-124 Ruslan is the largest aircraft ever mass produced, and was, until the advent of the An-225 Mriya, the largest aircraft in production today. An-124s have been used to carry locomotives, yachts, aircraft fuselages, and a variety of other oversized cargoes. The An-225 Mriya is a strategic airlift transport aircraft with a maximum gross weight of 640 tones (1,411,000 lb).

Ukraine is one of 5 countries – leaders in space research industry The enterprises of space industry gain great experience in the development and production of modern launch vehicles, spacecraft, engines, control and telemeter system.

Geographical center of Europe is in Ukraine The village of Dilove located on the Tisza River, close to the Romanian border holds a historical marker and a large stone believed to mark the geographic centre of Europe, as measured in 1887 by the geographers from the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Education in Ukraine E

ducation has always been an integral part of Ukraine’s development. Every step made by the government of Ukraine in the field of education is aimed at providing every willing individual with equal access to higher education, as well as guaranteeing quality and interesting teaching process The Ukrainian education today goes through a period of transformations. According to the requirements of Bologna process, which the country joined in 2005, two degrees are conferred by Universities today: Bachelors Degree requiring 4 years of study, and a Master’s Degree – 5 or 6 years. More and more Ukrainian universities enter international educational associations and committees. A number of Universities today cooperate not only with higher educational establishments from other countries, but with international businesses and governments of these states, as well. Ukrainian aviation academies for example have licenses to train specialists for various UNO programs. Technical institutions, IT and nuclear energy universities have exclusive contracts with the governments of Russia, Germany, Poland, USA, China, Uganda and oth-

proaktive_katalog_15_without pantone.indd 5

er countries for training specialists in various fields. An academic year in Ukraine usually starts on September 1st and lasts till mid June. Foreign students who plan to study in Ukraine can apply between June and October. Their first year of studying usually begins in mid autumn. As a rule, students from abroad are obliged to spend a year at the preparation faculty. Certificate of graduation from this faculty allows students from other countries to enter a preferred university without entrance exams.

There are 9 medical schools, recognized by the Medical Council of India. Degrees of country’s technical universities are recognized throughout the globe.

Most known and respected universities are located in the biggest cities: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipropetrovs’k, Donetsk and Odessa. First of all these cities and their educational establishments can boast about having “great names” in their list of professors and graduates. For example Lev Landau, winner of Nobel Prize in physics and Anton Valter (Creator of Experimental Nuclear Physics School) graduated from Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute. Ilya Mechnikov, winner of Noble prize in Medicine studied natural science at Kharkiv University. Prominent space scientist Sergey Korolyev and inventor of electric welding Yevhen Paton are associated with Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.

Cost of study for students from abroad is noticeably lower than in Western Europe or USA. Teaching is conducted in Ukrainian, Russian or English language.
