PUGET- SUR- ARGENS Med i terran ean C u p 2013 Let’s reminisce on what took place in the south of France not too long ago. The place we longed for, the fresh breath of air we gasped for, the light at the end of the off season tunnel we so eagerly strived for. Into the light and into our element. Puget-sur-Argens embraced us with warm weather, a gust of wind and full on head to head live action. Our skin was set ablaze and our inner warriors could finally shed their icy skin. This was but the start of a roaring season and we couldn’t have asked for a better beginning.

Adagio

Just like the bow is placed onto the string of a violin, a hand is gently positioned onto the keys of a piano and the stick of a drum is raised upwards; we take arms, move out onto the field and get into the proper stands. Just like the first notes on a sheet of paper, our preliminary games are but the start a grand symphony. Slowly the tempo rises and we play along with the melody. We follow the motion of the game and feel the beat of our shots throughout our bodies. We anticipate the next note, our next move but require no conductor. We’re the ones in control, we decide where the rhythm takes us.

Allegretto

Whatever happens next will decide whether we can continue to play our instruments or become a part of the audience. As hard and painfully true a fact it might be, the athletic ensemble won’t end with your teams departure. Hitting every note and creating the perfect harmony is what it takes to progress from saturday onto sunday and beyond. Not many get to see it through to the end but the ones that do, know it from the start.

Presto

The full size orchestra has subsided to only a few contenders as the final chorus is played. Fast movements, powerful strokes and high pitch sounds tower above the fields as the play comes to an end. Emotions run wild and the heat draws the crowd near. The last of the remaining musicians cohere and preform the third act. As the finishing note faints away, who else but the TonTons are left standing. Screams of joy leave the venue as the sun takes a bow in Puget-sur-Argens, the first of the four seasons.
