L’Arte e la Moda sembrano guardarsi da sempre come due mondi paralleli e affini: si incontrano, scambiano continue promesse e a volte riescono a concretizzarne alcune. La collaborazione tra il brand di accessori di lusso Ecotoosh e l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera nasce appunto dal fruttuoso incontro tra Arte Contemporanea e Moda. Ai giovani talenti dell’Accademia è stata offerta l’opportunità di esprimere liberamente su tela la loro creatività e di vederla poi realizzata in morbide sciarpe nella capsule collection “Terre Lontane”. Ecotoosh, ha fortemente voluto la realizzazione di questo progetto, volto a sostenere la crescita e lo sviluppo delle nuove generazioni dell’Arte Contemporanea e di avvicinare il mondo accademico a quello del lavoro. Il brand nasce nel 2000 per volontà dell’azienda Iltex, forte di una grande esperienza e tradizione nel settore tessile. Gli Ecotoosh sono fedeli riproduzioni dei pregiati Shahtoosh di origine indiana e nepalese. Presentano le medesime caratteristiche di peso, morbidezza e qualità dei noti manufatti asiatici benché siano realizzati con filato di cashmere extra-fine, lavorato con un procedimento brevettato dall’azienda che non prevede lo sfruttamento dell’antilope tibetana. Il processo di creazione di un Ecotoosh comporta l’applicazione di materiale idrosolubile al cashmere, in modo da ottenere una corretta resistenza cinetica in fase di tessitura a telaio. Il risultato sono degli Shahtoosh Eco-Friendly preziosi e sottili, tanto da passare attraverso un anello. Una soffice nuvola di cashmere disponibile in una vasta gamma cromatica.
Art and Fashion have long looked at each other as two parallel and related worlds: they have often met, exchanged continuous promises which at times have also been accomplished. The collaboration between Ecotoosh, the luxury accessories brand, and the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera originates from the fruitful encounter between Contemporary Art and Fashion. Young talents of the Brera Academy have been given the opportunity to freely express on canvas their creativity and to see their artworks reproduced on soft scarves in the capsule collection “Faraway Lands”. Ecotoosh has strongly sought the accomplishment of this project, with the aim to support the growth and development of the new generations of Contemporary Art and to draw the academic world closer to the working world. This brand was created in 2000, by initiative of Iltex company, strong of its long experience and tradition in the textile sector. Ecotoosh scarves are faithful reproductions of the precious Indian and Nepalese Shahtoosh. They present the same characteristics in terms of light weight, softness and quality of the well-known Asian handmade article, but, in addition, Ecotoosh utilizes extrafine cashmere threads, manufactured with an original procedure that does not consent to the exploitation of Tibetan antelopes. The creation process of an Ecotoosh scarf implies the application of hydro-soluble materials to cashmere, so as to obtain a correct kinetic resistance during the weaving phase on the loom. The result is a precious and fine Eco-Friendly Shahtoosh, that can pass through a finger ring. A soft cloud of cashmere available in a wide range of colors.

Terre Lontane Di Andrea B Del Guercio Calore ed attesa. Di fronte alla creatività dei giovani artisti dell’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera con la necessità di motivare la visualizzazione e attribuire valore estetico alla configurazione di uno scialle caldo ed avvolgente, non ho potuto che fare riferimento al patrimonio iconografico della storia dell’arte; ogni emozione, ogni sensazione che noi proviamo trova, infatti, riferimento ed immediata relazione all’interno della cultura visiva, tra le diverse soluzioni espressive, plastiche e pittoriche, di grandi autori e anonimi artigiani e artisti; vivere i dati dell’esperienza umana, sia fisica che interiore, attraverso la visualizzazione estetica risulta un processo straordinario di confronto e di arricchimento, di contaminazione tra il prima ed il dopo, di conferma dei valori. Così l’abbraccio caldo di un ampio scialle, l’emozione di un gesto protettivo percorrono per intero la storia dell’arte, si riscontra nella stagione romana classica, si specifica nella cultura iconografica cristiana per trovare ampia applicazione e pieno sviluppo nel patrimonio espressivo del XIX secolo; la figura femminile appare destinata, lungo questo percorso, a ricevere l’atto avvolgente di una stola di lana, di uno scialle che definisce l’atto dell’abbraccio, con riferimento mirato alle spalle ed al conseguente abbandono del ruolo “religioso” del velo; scatta all’interno del valore simbolico dello scialle il ruolo di memoria di un tepore altro, del calore affettivo e protettivo proprio dell’abbraccio. Il valore laico assunto progressivamente dallo scialle caldo di lana permette alla cultura artistica un’applicazione allargata all’intero modo femminile, alle sue ampie sfaccettature nel sistema sociale ed in ogni geografia o contesto ambientale; una presenza simbolica costante che ritroviamo sulle spalle di donne che attendono sempre un ritorno, alla finestra di un caseggiato di città,sulla riva del mare, ai bordi di un campo o fuori da una baita. Calore ed attesa diventano forme di un’esperienza racchiuse nello scialle di lana, ampio ed avvolgente fino ad essere maschile, in cui la presenza di una lana rara e particolare, testimonianza estrema di radici antropologiche
di quella estesa cultura pastorale che coinvolge gli altipiani e le alte catene montuose dell’Asia, allarga ed estende il nostro pensiero verso “Terre lontane”, proietta il nostro sguardo oltre il mare e i monti, universalizza ogni valore coinvolto. Nasce una Collezione. Su questo straordinario territorio esperienziale ed emozionale femminile, in stretto rapporto di continuità ed approfondimento con il patrimonio artistico-visivo, in relazione con l’estensione geografico-culturale e verso tutte le forme estetiche acquisite, ho inteso rilanciare l’idea antica di costruire una Collezione, di costruire intorno ad un tema comune un insieme di opere. Oltre ottanta giovani artisti di Brera hanno operato, sulla base di un bando, e prodotto proposte e bozzetti, dando vita ad un caleidoscopio di grande creatività; in una seconda fase sono state selezionate venticinque proposte e quindi ogni autore ha messo mano ad opere di grandi dimensioni (cm200x100) caratterizzate da tecniche e sistemi linguistici diversi; gran parte delle opere sono state realizzate all’interno degli atelier di Brera. La partecipazione allargata, rappresentata da diverse fasce generazionali coinvolte, segnala come il tema abbia toccato le corde e la sensibilità degli artisti; l’impegno profuso nella realizzazione delle opere indica il raggiungimento di uno stato di significativa professionalità; all’osservazione attenta di ogni singola opera ha fatto seguito la presa di visione di un insieme estetico complesso, sia sul piano espositivo, pari ad una superficie complessiva di 50 mq, che editoriale.
Dal processo creativo posto tra progetto e realizzazione, tra il valore del singolo e la ricchezza delle idee e delle suggestioni, si è potuto raggiungere la definizione di una prima grande Collezione “Terre lontane”; nell’arco di poche settimane, in un clima di elaborazione non priva di tensioni individuali, inevitabili difficoltà tecniche, ho potuto osservare l’affermazione di un progetto espressivo caratterizzato da una straordinaria energia creativa; l’esemplare documentazione e la catalogazione fotografica condotta da Matteo Girola rappresentano nell’attuale catalogo i processi e i risultati raggiunti mentre si attende la fase espositiva dell’intera Collezione come momento in grado di rivelare interamente i risultati del progetto.
Dell’opera che avvolge. Questo testo che solo in minima parte può suggerire i meccanismi che hanno caratterizzato il progetto e le emozioni che abbiamo vissuto, deve avventurarsi sul particolare passaggio che porta l’opera d’arte verso la sua riproducibilità applicata alla funzione d’uso dello scialle di lana, seguendo un percorso che ci riconduce al dato dal quale siamo partiti; non abbiamo necessità di citare ancora dal patrimonio della storia dell’arte la fitta rete di relazioni e gli infiniti esempi, noti e anonimi, confermati nella stagione
moderna ed in quella contemporanea, nati dall’incontro tra sistema dell’arte e quello complesso del costume, militare-liturgico, a quello della moda; appare invece di grande interesse attestare quanto questo passaggio avvenga in una fase generazionalmente anticipata della creatività. Alla ricerca dell’originalità, quale motrice primaria della creatività, corrisponde il grado di una sperimentazione espressiva che riesca a gestire un equilibrio significativo tra desiderio di espressione e le diverse forme di fruizione introdotte dal progetto, dove si intende osservare il passaggio tra la staticità dell’opera su tela e telaio al movimento “performativo” dello scialle che avvolge, dallo spazio espositivo alla visibilità comportamentale.
Nello specifico dell’arte contemporanea questo passaggio, dall’opera allo scialle, dall’immagine all’abbraccio, dalla fissità al movimento, appare ancora di grande interesse e segnala soluzioni nuove; la scelta di una fruizione dell’opera d’arte che allarga i suoi confini alla vestibilità indica uno stato di confronto e di partecipazione, un’accoglienza profonda delle qualità estetiche, a loro volta espressive di quel caldo abbraccio, di quell’ “attendere” quale valore racchiuso nello scialle di lana. Faraway Lands By Andrea B Del Guercio Warmth and the Waiting. Against the creativity of the young artists of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, in need of motivating the visualization of a warm and encompassing shawl and of attributing to its configuration an aesthetic value, I could not but make reference to the iconographic heritage of art history; in fact, every emotion, each and every sensation that we experience finds a reference and immediate relation within the visual culture, through different expressive, sculptural and pictorial solutions of great artists, anonymous artisans and unknown performers; by representing the physical and interior human experience through an aesthetical visualization, an extraordinary process of confrontation and enrichment emerges, made up of contamination between the “before” and the “after”, of confirmation of values. Therefore, the embrace of a large and warm shawl, the emotion of a protective gesture passes through the entire history of art; it can be found in the classical Roman season, it is defined in the Christian iconographic culture, to find an extensive application and full development in the expressive heritage of the XIX century; along this path, the female figure appears destined to receive the enveloping act of a woolen shawl, of a shawl that defines the act of an embrace, with a specific reference to her shoulders and to the consequent abandonment of the religious role of the veil; the memory of a special warmth is set off from the symbolic value of the shawl, an emotional and protective warmth typical of an embrace. The progressive non-religious value given to a warm woolen shawl allows a broader application of the artistic culture within the female world, with its plentiful facets in the social system and in each geography or environmental context; a constant symbolic presence that we find covering the shoulders of a woman that awaits a return, from the window of a city home, by the seashore, on the corner of a field or outside a mountain cabin. Warmth and the waiting become forms of experience all collected in a woolen shawl, wide and enwrapping up to the point of becoming manly, in which the presence
of a rare and special wool -- extreme witness of anthropological roots of an extended pastoral culture that involves the highlands and the mountains of Asia -- widens and extends our thought towards “faraway lands“ projecting our views beyond the sea, beyond the mountains, universalizing each value implicated. A Collection is Born. On this extraordinary territory of experiences and female emotions, in close connection with the continuity and in-depth examination of a visualartistic heritage, in relation to the geo-cultural extension and towards all aesthetic forms acquired, my intention was to re-launch the antique idea of constructing an art Collection, a series of artworks around a common theme. Over 80 artists from Brera Academy have dedicated themselves to produce projects and draft works, according to the criteria set in a contest, giving life to a kaleidoscope of creativity; in a second phase, 25 projects were chosen and the artists proceeded in carrying out their artworks -- characterized by different linguistic techniques and systems -- on a large scale (cm200x100); most artworks have been made inside the Brera Academy workshops. The broad participation, involving several generations of artists, shows how the theme has touched the heart and sensitivity of artists of all ages; the overall effort in realizing the artworks indicates the achievement of a state of significant professionalism; through the careful observation of each artwork, the consciousness of a complex aesthetic whole has followed, both from an editorial and an expositional perspective, equivalent to a overall area of 50 sqm. From the creative process, developed between the initial project and the final realization, between the value of the single and the richness of ideas and fascination, it was possible to set in motion and define a first important Collection of “Faraway Lands”; within few weeks, in a climate of elaboration, with individual tensions, with inevitable technical difficulties, I have observed the evidence of an expressive project characterized by an extraordinary creative energy; in this catalogue, the exemplary documentation and the
photographic cataloguing, conducted by Matteo Girola, represent the entire process and the results achieved awaiting the expositional phase of the whole Collection as a moment capable of revealing the results of the project.
About the enfolding work. This text, that can only minimally suggest part of the mechanisms which characterize the project and the emotions experienced, must undertake the particular path of bringing the artwork to their reproducibility applied to the functional use of the woolen shawl, following a path that leads back to the initial issue; it is not necessary to quote once again the dense network of relationships and the countless known and unknown examples from the heritage of art history, confirmed both in the modern and contemporary season, originating from the encounter of the art system with the complex system of customs, from the military-liturgical one to the fashion one, but it seems to attest how this very interesting passage takes place from generation to generation in an advanced phase of creativity. From the research of originality as a primary motor of creativity, the degree of an expressive experimentation corresponds, capable of managing a balance between the desire of expression and the different forms of utilization introduced by the
project, that intends to observe the transition between the static nature of the artwork on canvas and the frame to the “performing” movement of the enveloping shawl, from the expositional space to an everyday behavioral visibility.
With specific reference to contemporary art, the passage from the artwork to the shawl, from the image to the embrace, from motionlessness to movement, still appears of great interest and indicates new solution; the choice of enjoyment of an artwork, that broadens its boundaries up to its wearability, indicates a state of confrontation and participation, a deep acceptance of the aesthetic qualities, expression of the warm embrace of the “waiting” as the value enclosed within the woolen shawl. Maddalena Artusi nasce a Parma nel 1981. Nel 2005 ottiene a pieni voti il Diploma di Laurea in Decorazione presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. Nel 2005 e nel 2008 frequenta i Corsi di Incisione tenuti da Nino Bacco, docente all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera di Milano e da Santoro e Martinelli, presso l’Associazione Kaus di Urbino. Nell’inverno tra il 2009 e il 2010 a Istanbul apprende le tecniche del tappeto turco. Nel 2010 consegue a pieni voti il Diploma di II Livello in Arte e Antropologia del Sacro presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.

Viola Ceribelli nasce a Calcinate in provincia di Bergamo nel 1989, vive a Ghisalba. Dopo aver conseguito il diploma in Decorazione presso l’Istituto d’Arte Andrea Fantoni di Bergamo, si iscrive al corso di Decorazione all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera presso la cattedra del Prof. Carlo Tognolina. Nel Marzo 2012 si laurea in Decorazione con votazione 110 e Lode. Tuttora è iscritta al I anno del Biennio di Teoria e Pratica della Terapeutica Artistica.

Giuseppe De Siati nasce a San Vito dei Normanni (BR) nel 1979. Nel 2009 consegue la Laurea in Conservazione dei Beni Culturali, discutendo la tesi in Geografia economico-politica “Il paesaggio rurale di San Vito dei Normanni”. Attualmente la sua ricerca è incentrata sul rapporto uomo/natura e mente/corpo. Vive e lavora a Milano, dove frequenta il I anno del Bienno di Arti Visive presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera.
Giuseppe De Siati was born in 1979 in San Vito dei Normanni (BR), Italy. In 2009 he received his degree in Conservation of Cultural Heritage, discussing “The Rural Landscape of San Vito of the Normans”, a thesis in economic-political geography. His current research focuses on the relationship between man and nature, mind and body. He presently lives and works in Milan, where he is attending his first year of Post-Graduate studies in Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera.

Ilaria Forlini nasce a Milano nel 1980. Dopo gli studi al Liceo Artistico, nel 2005 si diploma in Decorazione all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. Nel 2008 si diploma in Arti e Antropologia del sacro. Dal 2009 al 2011 è stata tecnico di laboratorio per Arti Visive presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. Ha collaborato con ArtShow, guida alle mostre d’arte contemporanea e con il CRAB (Centro Ricerca Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera). Attualmente collabora con l’Accademia di Brera.
Ilaria Forlini was born in 1980 in Milan (Italy), where she lives and works today. In 2005, she received her degree in Interior Decorating at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera. One year later, she attended a post-graduate course in Arts and Anthropology of the Sacred at the same Academy. From 2009 to 2011, she was in charge of the Visual Arts laboratory at the Brera Academy. Since 2009, she has been collaborating with the CRAB (Research Center of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera).

Attualmente dipinge acquarelli, affreschi con la tecnica michelangiolesca e quadri ad olio.
Pietro Librici was born in 1985 in Legnano (MI), Italy. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, where he also obtained with honors his PostGraduate Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Contemporary Art. Currently, he uses watercolor and oil painting and makes frescoes utilizing Michelangelo’s technique.

In 2005, he enrolled in the undergraduate course in Painting (Department of Visual Arts) at the Academy of Fine Arts of Tallinn, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. In 2008, he obtained at the same Academy of Tallinn a Master degree in Drawing (Department of Visual Arts). Since 2010, he has been attending the two-year Post-Graduate program in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan (Italy). He currently lives and works in Milan.

Sulla creazione dice: è la vita a suggerirmi la forma, ed essa parlandomi, mi racconta di tutti gli esseri viventi.

Alice Rabbi nasce a Canegrate (MI) nel 1988. Dopo aver frequentato il Liceo Artistico Paolo Candiani di Busto Arsizio – indirizzo figurativo, si iscrive presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera di Milano, dove nel 2001 consegue il Diploma di Laurea di I Livello in Decorazione. L’argomento della tesi, la Light Art, ha portato alla realizzazione di un ambiente buio, illuminato da foglie fosforescenti che brillano all’accensione della luce nera.

After attending the Candiani Paolo Art School of Busto Arsizio - figurative orientation, she enrolled in the undergraduate course of Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan, where in 2001 she received her Bachelor’s Degree. The topic of her Thesis, “The Light Art”, led her to the creation of a dark room, illuminated by phosphorescent leaves that shine at the turning on of the black light.

Carmine Sabbatella nasce a Polla (SA) nel 1982. Consegue il Diploma di I Livello in Arti Visive presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, nella stessa consegue la specializzazione in Arti e Antropologia del Sacro con lode Accademica. Ad oggi vive e lavora tra Milano e Sala Consilina. Collabora con diversi studi d’arte tra cui: Tarshito, Paradiso, Occhipinti, Giuman, Pizzi, Boero, Grittini, Caiazzo ed altri. Egli è anche Image Designer per l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera a Milano. Nell’ultimo anno vince il primo premio Nazionale di scultura urbana per la città di Vimodrone (MI) ed è segnalato come Young Blood per l’annuario dei giovani talenti italiani premiati nel mondo.

He is also Image Designer for the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera in Milan. Last year he won the first National prize in urban sculpture for the city of Vimodrone (MI) and was distinguished as a Young Blood for the yearbook of the young Italian talents awarded throughout the world.
