Music Shop There is a thriving musical community in most cities throughout the country these days, and while new genres come and go, guitar based music is continuing to prove popular as time goes on. My main objective in this project was to leave behind the stereotypical image of the guitar store, and design something more inviting and eye-catching.

Acrylic cylinders form main structure of light Lights hang from rods Metal rods support the main light structure and house cables
The shape of the lights mirror the cylindrical display podiums below. The staggered display podiums help to draw the eye upwards upon entering the shop, where the oversized lights loom overhead.

The two tuition rooms on the first floor are clad in ProFoam acoustic panels. These panels soundproof the rooms and are available in a range of different colours and fabrics.
The ProFoam panels can be used as single sheets, or they can be layered, as they have been in the tuition rooms, to provide better acoustics and soundproofing.
Birds eye view of shop
The materials used throughout the space echo those used in the guitars that the shop sells, such as wood, metal and acrylic. While the design of the ground floor is a detailed affair, the first floor level is a simpler, more relaxed space.
Detail of stairs
Glass wall around stairs
The stair treads are toughened glass. Each step rests upon two strings which are set back from the edge of the treads and can be seen through the clear glass steps.
