So, what should parents do when they want to go shopping or do their own things? The Baby café is a place which can help parents keep those kids for a few hours, it provide a children’s playground for those kids and a relaxing place for parents to play with their baby. Everything in here will be designed around the relationship between the parent and child.

There are five situations where parents can choose baby cafe 1. Baby can play with parent in play room to promote the relationship and communication between each other. 2. If parents want to get some drinks and cakes, baby cafe will provide a place to put strollers, it also provides baby food for hungry babies. 3. If parents want to go shopping or do their own business, they can leave their child in baby cafe and ask staff to look after their baby. 4. Baby cafe also provide party area for baby birth celebrations and family dinners. 5. Lonely mothers can make friends in here and discuss how to bring up babies.

LEFT Glasgow buchanan galleries ground floor originally the o’neil shop. The reason why I chose this place is because Buchanan Galleries is a shopping centre located in the central area of Glasgow. It is the place where apartments and stores are cramped, and kid-friendly establishments are scarce. Traffic is convenient and the o’neil shop is at the entrance of this shopping mall and it is close to other areas providing food. Wide ramp is convenient for parents to use stroller. It suitable for parents to leave their child and go shopping or do their own stuffs.

Baby cafe’s notice broad: The whole space has been separated into two zones. Zone one is on the higher level for parents and baby, mainly providing some fast food and baby food for customers. This area can accommodate at least 32 customers and provide 12 strollers parking spaces for free. Zone two is more closed room only for staff looking after babies, it offers parents who want to leave their baby in baby cafe for a while, it has a capacity for at least 10 babies.
BELOW Entrance of baby cafe. If you let kids to draw a house shape, a triangle and a square maybe the most basic shape that children knows about house and it means home to parents. So, based on this shape I create a entrance to attract parents and babies to get in.
Rules and service for zone two Rule 1. Parents can not leave their baby in this zone more than 3 hours, and it will cost 7 pounds per hour. for babies requiring to be fed or in other emergencies, staff will notify parents by phone. 2. Parents can not get into this play room to play with their baby, this zone is for staff and babies only. 3. Parents need to show their id and leave informations to staff for emergency contact.
Colour and material chosen for the entrance: Constracted from 25mm thick MDF finished with satin egg shell paint in ral 1013 oyster white,ral 9010 pure white and ral 5024 pastel blue colour.
4. Parents will hignlight particular information. For instance, the babies habits and sensitive areas of baby, etc. Service 1. One member of staff will take care of 3 babies in play room. 2. Provide one member of staff in story area for reading story book for baby. 3. Flexible huge door area for baby sleeping in strollers. 4. Free stroller parking area furnished.

BELOW Playground for children. 3 Different colour carpets consist of a mini size outside landscape, blue carpet looks like an ocean, white one is beach and green carpet is a dense forest, it makes this area full of natural fragrance and purified air. FAR RIGHT Reading area for baby. Swimming pool ladder shaped book shelves connect with the blue yarn ceiling mounted curtain create a quiet atmosphere like under the water, allowing children to take a dip in the sea of books. BELOW RIGHT Quite area for baby sleeping. In the shopping process baby often sleep in the stroller. This is a big problem of where to place those babies. This quite area provide a nice half closed area for babies. Using huge door to separate quite space can make this space become more flexible and multi-functional. If there are no sleeping babies just close those door, this area has instantly been changed into a playground area.
