Technological emphasis Active multidisciplinary collaboration is aided by an institute-wide commitment to advanced technology — not only as a tool to aid in research, but also as an end in itself. So on the one hand, we can use advanced micrography to visualize nanoscale structures. On the other, we can combine a microbiologist’s understanding of a biological process with an engineer’s ability to design and construct a nanoscale device that mimics or disrupts that process — creating a new technology with a potential therapeutic application.
