Adamsville takes second at state School menus By Andrew Alexander Sports Writer

The Adamsville Jr./Sr. High School Marching Band traveled to Murfreesboro, Tenn. last weekend for the Division I Marching Band State Championship at Riverdale High School where the Cardinals placed second overall. The band received second place ratings in color guard, field commander, and overall band in the finals last Saturday night. It also received a third place rating for percussion. The Cardinals earned an overall rating of 93.05 in the finals. Before advancing to the finals, Adamsville competed in the preliminary round and earned first place ratings for overall band and field commander. The band earned a third place

rating for percussion and a fifth place rating for color guard. The Cardinals also received the high music score and a superior rating for overall band, percussion, field commander, and color guard. Their overall rating in the preliminaries was 92.365. The Champion Marching Band from Cascade High School in Wartrace, Tenn. finished first overall in the finals competition, knocking off the defending state champion Cardinals. Year in and year out, the AJSHS Marching Band competes with integrity, class, and consistent excellence, bringing home seven state championships since 1999. The Cardinals are led by Band Director Frank Congiardo, Assistant Band Director David Stevens, Color Guard Director Kelly Wilder, and their six seniors.
