who have been born again, who have been saved, who have a new life in Jesus Christ, who have left evil behind, should live in holiness and be worthy of the Lord. Those of us who are serving the Lord Christ must rid ourselves of every burden and every sin bearing down on us, and patientlyrun the race ahead as God commands, as the Bible teaches. We also have to preach the message God gives us in His Word, so that hearers repent, wayward find the right path, crooked straighten, mountains come down and valleys go up. We should know that there is also a glorious hope and joy for the Church living blamelessly in clean garments. The Scripture says: “Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments, and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy” (Revelation 3:4). How would the pastor of that congregation feel!He knew the condition of these people. But verse 4 is praise:“Thou hast a few names... which have not defiled their garments… they are worthy”. In Sardis there was a big Church, but only a few people those

had remained in holiness and had not defiled their white garments. However small, throughout the history of the Church, there has always been a few whohave remained faithful and havenot kissed Baal and whose knees havenot bowedunto Gustavo Martínez him. Prophet Elijah once said: “I only Rev. International President of W.M.M. am left” (1 Kings 19:14), and God’s response was: “Yet I have left me seven thousand in whe shall leave all negative Israel, all the knees which weight and sin behind. Whe have not bowed unto Baal, shall continue this journey and every mouth which before us with patience as God ordered. hath not kissed him”. (1 Kings 19:18). Beloved brother, work hard to fix your life and straighten what is crooked, not only to be worthy by the Church, but to be worthyby the Lord and to be held true on the day the Lord comes. Dear reader, today is the day of salvation! Beloved reader, leave the distancing and the conformism, seek holiness! The true Church says: “Come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20). to be held from 14 to 19 May 2013, has surpassed the expectations of the organizing committee. This is anothersign of God’s power to gather His people in this country. The big event will count on specially conditioned premises, the Figali Convention Center in Panama City, whichmight accommodate over 4 500 people during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Work. This glorious meetingwill be the greatestChristian concentration in this Central American country, mobilizing thousands of people that will be present in each of the services to listen to God’s Word. “We hope to have a great deep visitation of the Holy Spirit and that God will give us the direction, the strength and the vision required to continue in this new phase of the Work”, said Rev Gustavo Martinez, president of the Worldwide Missionary Movement. Meanwhile, Rev Jorge Alvarez, general secretary of the Worldwide Missionary Movement, pointed out that,on the occasion of the IX World Congress,he hopes to have an explosion of the Holy Spirit, an awakening to start a new cycle after the passing of the Ortiz brothers. “Greater things are definitely coming for this Work”, he said. The Organizing Committee chaired by Reverend José Arturo Soto, International Vice-presidentof the WMM, has not overlooked even the smallest details to provide the best comfort and security to each of the brothers coming to this city to celebrate the half-century foundation of the WMM. PANAMA, A HOSPITABLE CITY
About five thousand brothers will arrive in Panama thanks to the efforts made by the organizing committee and they will stay at fifteen hotels in the city. They will be joined by those who come to this great event independently and through any other means. In other words, there will be almost six thousand people under the same sky to praise God’s Word. The Protocol Committee has conducted a tireless work to gain the support of the Panamanian immigration authorities in 8

order to obtain as quickly as possible tourist visas for those brothers coming from Myanmar, Haiti, Equatorial Guinea, India and Kuwait. As for the brothers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, it will provide the necessary migration facilities concerning the amount of money that they will be required to present upon entry into Panama. The transportation and board issues have been covered as well, so each brother attending the conference can be certain that they will be on time for each activity and will receive the food for the body and the soul, which is the most important. PRAYERS FOR THE WORLD
Because of its importance and impact
among the brothers around the world, the Worldwide Missionary Movement’sIX World Congress will have great coverage of media. This willmake it possible to broadcast the occurrences on the different platforms of the WMM to the five continents. To this effect, a HD mobile television unit will be enabledwith five cameras and an overall system to deliver a good quality signal. This will encapsulate the signal and send it live on the Internet to Peru,so that Bethel Television may receive it and broadcast from Lima to the world. In addition, the event will be broadcasted on the WMM website,so that all those brothers who could not attendmay participate in each of the activities carried out at theFigali Convention Center. Panamanian television has also pledged
to take part with two local channels that will broadcast the event signal to their citizens. A team of journalists from Impacto Evangelistic magazine will fully cover all the occurrences of the Congress and will develop a special edition for the next issue. Reverend Soto has urged all the brothers throughout the world to become aware of the magnitude and importance of this event and the need for participation of congregants to the encounter with God. “The Worldwide Missionary Movement hopes that everyone will not to come with a spirit of expectation, but of participation. I call on all the Christian people who willattend the WMM’s IX Congress to participate with a deep attitude of seeking God”, he said.

MAJOR CONFERENCES
First Congress - Puerto Rico (1968). The Worldwide Missionary Movement held its I International Congress in the country where it was born, Puerto Rico. The responsibility of gathering the whole church of God for the first time fell into the hands of its founder, Rev Luis M. Ortiz. The event, held from 4 to 9June1968, was attended by multitudes of souls from different countries where the Work originally laid its foundations: the United States, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Haiti. Second Congress - Puerto Rico (1970). Two years after the first celebration, the Worldwide Missionary Movement held its II International Congress from 20 to
25 October 1970.“With Pentecost unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8) was the theme for the event, which gathered hundreds of souls that were saved, healed of their diseases, freed of their vices and drugs, and baptized in the Holy Spirit. Third Congress - Puerto Rico (1972). - The III International Congress of the Worldwide Missionary Movement was held from 3 to 8 July 1972 at the premises of a farm in Rio Piedras, Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. God’s Word,presented by Rev Luis M. Ortiz and other leaders of the Work, stoked the expectations of the attendees, who were covered by the mystical figure of the Holy Spirit through each of the speeches. Fourth Congress - USA (1982). - Fourteen years after its first international event,
CHOSEN INSTRUMENT the event to be held in Panama will be the setting for the launch of the book “50 años, Instrumentoescogido” (“50 years, Chosen Instrument”)– a publication carried out by the editorial team of the ImpactoEvangelistic magazine from Peru – tothe thousands of brothers of the WMM. Throughout its two hundred pages, this book tells in detail the history of the WMM over the last five decades, when it hasspread God’s Word in the more than60 countries where the Work is currently present. The book also includes a detailed account of the

biography of the founder of the Work, Reverend Luis M. Ortiz, and its beginnings in Cuba and Puerto Rico. It contains as well information on the major global events and congresses conducted by the Work throughout its fifty years. This book was launched in Lima by the President of the Worldwide Missionary Movement, Reverend Gustavo Martinez, and Vice-President Rev Joseph A. Soto, who expressed their satisfaction concerning this important editorial achievement of the WMM u
the Worldwide Missionary Movement set date for itsIV International Congress. This time it was held in East Chicago, Indiana, USA from 27 to 31 July, 1982. Just like the other world events, Impacto Evangelistic magazine was responsible for promoting the global event, which brought together multitudes of brothers from 19 nations. At that time, the Lord’s Work was already widespread in 25 countries. “To harvest, Jesus is summoning you to harvest; harvest time is clamoring for you, do not delay, do not wait, the white fields are to be harvested, and our feet are ready to explore the world’sripened grains and to return joyfully bringing golden sheaves to the Lord” was the theme of the congress. Fifth Congress - Panama (1987).–The V International Congress of the Worldwide Missionary Movement was held in the capital of the Republic of Panama, Central America under the theme: “Be faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life”. From 23 to 28 February, 1987, the event was held at the sports center of the Jose Dolores Moscote Institute with 28 international delegations from the 32 nations of the Work. In the year of Fidelity1987, the V International Congress stood out because of the prophetic message of the Lord on the modern andsophisticated media to be delivered to the Worldwide Missionary Movement for the massive spread of the Gospel. Sixth Congress - USA (1993). - The VI International Congress of the Worldwide Missionary Movement was held from 5 to 10 April,1993at the Convention Center ofthe Hyatt Regency Hotel Miami, Florida, USA and once again it attracted the attention of thousands of believers from over 34 countries where the Work was present. “Sow and reap” was the theme of the VI International Congress. The celebration of the 50th wedding and ministerial work anniversary of the married couple Ortiz Hernandez was also part of this international activity, and there was a significant moment when a group of young people represented the couple’s wedding with the same outfits they both used at their own wedding held on April 21, 1943.
This international meeting was the last in which Reverend Ortiz took part, ashe was taken to the presence of the Lordfive months later. The passing of the founder of the WMM happened on 25 September, 1996. Seventh Congress - Panama (2000). - The new millennium represented anopenedwindow for the Worldwide Missionary Movement,which celebrated its 36 years of evangelistic work at the VII International Congress. “Lordship 2000” was the theme chosen for the event to be held in the capital of the Republic of Panama from 22 to May 27, 2000. This activity gathered over 6000 people from 46 nations at theLa Arena Roberto Duran sports center facilities (former Nuevo Panama Coliseum).
Eighth Congress - Panama (2007). -By 2007, the Worldwide Missionary Movement was present in over 50 countries. This joy resonated strongly at the VIII International Congress held at theFigali Convention Center in the capital of Panama from 22 to 26 May, 2007. Worldwide Missionary Movement, was interviewed last mid-April by Impacto Evangelistic magazine in Medellin, the second most populated city in Colombia, and used the opportunity to reaffirm the importance of the 50th anniversary event of the foundation of God’s Work to be held soon in Panama. Furthermore, the WMM leader mentioned the impact of media and urged the Movement to continue using them to convey God’s Word to the world. What are God’s Work expectations concerning the IX World Congress of the WMM? This celebration is very special and meaningful to the Worldwide Missionary Movement because of the 50 years of ongoing missionary work around the world. We expect there to be a profound visitation of the Holy Spirit and God to give us the direction, strength and vision required to continue in this new phase of God’s Work. 14

We also expect there to be deep spiritual unity at the IX World Congress so that we can, as one man, continue fighting in favor of world evangelism and preserve the wholesome doctrine that God has granted as a blessing to this work. Our wish is to raise awareness at the World Congress about the missionary work, to widen the vision and to leave with the thought of broadening the work in all respects. EVENT OF THE YEAR
How do you take the fact that Panama’s Minister of Tourism acknowledged the Movement’s Congress as the event of the year in his country? This is hugely important to the WMM. It is evident that Panama’s authorities have given a wonderful significance to our event. They realized at once that this is a big activity bringing people from over 60 countries together. Because of this, they have provided us with all possible facilities and great financial support so that this event can take

is very special and meaningful to the Worldwide Missionary Movement because of the 50 years of ongoing missionary work around the world. place in Panama and give great blessing to their nation. Can you tell us about the financial assistance you mentioned? Yes, of course. They are financing the rental of the Figali Convention Center premises where our Congress is to be held. Thanks to this, an expense of about $100 000 will be saved. It is a huge help for us. However, we must point out that Panama’s authorities know that the Movement event will be a great economic boost, since it will mobilize about 15 000 people who will be using restaurants, hotels, public transport and will make purchases in different shopping centers of Panama City. How many people are expected to attend the celebration of the 50th anniversary of God’s Work? We believe that there will be no less than 10 000 people from different parts of the world. We also count on the participation of all the brothers of the Work in Panama, who make over 3 000. So we estimate that around 15 000 people will attend the 50th anniversary of the Movement. In this sense, the Lord has provided us with a convention center with a capacity of over 15 000 people, with air conditioning and all the necessary conditions to carry out this great event.
PROPHECY FULFILLED What is your impression of the work done by the different media of God’s Work in favor of world evangelism? We are aware that it is a prophecy fulfilled. The Work’s media, and their extensive work of spreading the Word, are powerful means to win many souls, to open many doors in different countries and to raise many fallen and wayward persons. Did you know that other Christian media of South America have designated Impacto Evangelistic as one of the most important magazines of the evangelical world? It’s great to recognize the work of the journalist team. Impacto Evangelistic magazine is well positioned and I must give glory to God for what he does and how he stands this publication as a way to open doors for evangelism and repentance. It is a blessing and a tool that will continue bringing salvation and will always mean an impact to all its readers. We expect the best and wish the best for this magazine’s ministry. And we thank God for all these people working and serving the Lord for the publication to get to each reader every month.

How important is the publication of a Christian magazine for world evangelism? It is very important. In my opinion, written media is a tool we cannot give up on, that we must strengthen and maintain, because that way we are spreading the message. How do you see the Movement entrance into the radio, the television and the internet? In His time, the Lord told us he would make available to the Work the most sophisticated media to convey this message. Today we are seeing that this is a reality. In this regard, I would like to recall what Jesus told his disciples: “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature”. To the ends of the earth! If we believe this promise, we have to project ourselves developing areas that have not been worked on so far. Maybe the brothers of the Work have never seen themselves preaching the gospel with a microphone at a radio station or in front of a television screen, but let me tell you something: you need to go there, don’t be afraid, don’t say it doesn’t work, dare to walk through that big door!
GOD’S WORK
What is your thought about the 50th anniversary of the WMM? What I see right now is how God has widened and broadened his Work. I also see that what Jesus said is coming true: the kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which is initially small and tiny, yet when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs and becomes a leafy tree where the birds of the air come and nest in its branches. All of we who are part of the Work have to admire how God, amidst the shortages during these 5 decades, has raised simple and humble men who believe and depend on Him and through which the Lord has been glorified and praised, and today we see how solid the WMM is. What is the immediate future of the Movement? Now we have set our sights on Asia and
where God is opening doors. This year a small group entered Denmark but it is the start of something big in there. We pray so we can get to Russia, China and other places that seem impossible. Of course, after seeing what the Lord does, anything is possible. What are your words to those brothers who haven’t decided yet whether or not to participate in the International Congress? Don’t miss it, make every effort to go, or be attentive to Bethel Television and radio. The Key to the
cientific revolution
The Reformation of the sixteenth century was the key to understanding the Scientific Revolution. This is an accepted historical truth in all areas. César Vidal Manzanares
the return to the bible made it possible torecover Solomon’s insistent references to study the Nature, the repeated calls of the Psalms and the prophets to observe the cosmos and specially the mandate collected in the first book of Genesis (the same which states that men worked before the Fall) to master and understand the Creation. This return to the teachings of the Bible above other authorities made it possible to emancipate from the medieval Scholasticism that had given everything it could, and specially to see Nature as an object of power and knowledge to which the laws of theology did not apply, but the laws of an own science. The consequences turned out to be dramatic. Ramus and Bacon rejected the syllogistic method of medieval Scholasticism saying it was inappropriate for science as it was based on ideas, not facts of Nature. Palissy, Pare and Isaac Beeckman, the great Calvinist scientist from Holland,insisted on a scientific method that, with clear echoes of the Psalms, was based on the observation of Nature.

In fact, Beeckman, who announced the principle of inertia, got ahead of Galileo himself byobtaining a dynamic deduction of the law of falling bodies. As noted by Lewis Mumford at the time in his “Technics and Civilization”: “It was a Dutch optician, Johann Lippersheim, who in 1605 invented the telescope and thus suggested to Galileo the efficient means he needed for making astronomical observations. In 1590, another Hollander, the optician Zacharias Jansen invented the compound microscope, possibly also the telescope. One invention increased the scope of the macrocosm; the other revealed the microcosm; between them, the naive conceptions of space that the ordinary man carried around were completely upset”. As in the case of the credit or education market, the nations where the Reformation had triumphed - poorer and smaller to tell the truth – got ahead in a prodigious way of the greatCatholic powers,if not Orthodox. Protestant supremacy is so overwhelming that we could mention dozens of examples of
how its scientists became precursors and paradigms of scientific progress. There are other more important. Francis Bacon (1561-1626), who established the scientific method and was ableat the same time towriteabout Protestant theology. Johannes Kepler (1571-1630), a pious Lutheran who revolutionized mathematics and astronomy by doing research about the light and the laws of planetary motion around the sun and also wrote about theology. His talent was so extraordinary that the Catholic rulers of Graz-much more sensible than Philip II of Spain - insisted that he remain in the city. Robert Boyle (1627-1691), who did not only enunciate the Boyle’s law but is also the creator of modern chemistry and one of the founders of the Royal Society. He was a passionate Protestant who contributed financiallyto the translation of the New Testament into Turkish. John Ray (1627-1705), a Christian botanist, zoologist and apologist whose work would be massively takenby Linnaeus. Isaac Barrow (1630-1677), master of optics and teacher to Isaac Newton, who was also an extraordinary theologian whose eloquence inspired William Pitt for his parliamentary speeches. Antonie van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723), who discovered bacteria.Isaac Newton (1642-1727), the greatest scientist in history who excelled in areas such as optics, mechanics and mathematics, and was a great Protestant economist and noted author of books on theology as well. Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778), to whom we owe modern taxonomy, essential to the progress of natural sciences.Leonhard Euler (1707-1783), who was a mathematician, the most famous of Swiss scientists and a pious Calvinist. John Dalton (1766-1844), founder of modern atomic theory and convinced Quaker who opened a school in a barn to encourage literacy. David Brewster (1781-1868), researcher of polarized light. Michael Faraday (1791-1867), whose works on electricity and magnetism revolutionized physics and whose talent is still used today because he laid the foundation for advances such as the computer, the telephone or the Inter-
net networks. He cared, however, much more about living a life according to the principles of the New Testament within a small Protestant community. I insist: these are just a few examples. Were there Catholics scientists in that same time when Reformation Europe knew anunprecedented scientific revolution in the history of mankind? A disproportionate minority when compared to the number of Protestants and they were subject to a revealing path. Galileo (1564-1642), who based much of his advances on scientific works of Dutch Calvinists, was tried and condemned by the Catholic Church. And so it became a clear warningforadventurers. Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) was considered a heretic Jansenistfrom the Catholic perspective because of hiscompletely reformedview of the doctrines of grace. Descartes (1596-

1650) insisted over and over again on his Catholic orthodoxy and he even declared that he would not consider any other religious belief – which continues to be an interestingly understandable statement of principles if we considertherepressive precedent of Galileo –henever knew, however, scientific freedom in Catholic lands. Descartes was convinced that, deep down, he was an atheist, but whatever he was, the truth is that he spent much of his life in Protestant Sweden while his works – tooscientific – wereplaced in 1663 on the Indexof ProhibitedBooks by the Pope. These three cases are good evidence that science could have been developed in Mediterranean nations as in northern Europe ... if they had embraced the Reformation. Letting the ecclesiastical authorities subdue science proved to be disastrous for those nations. The implications of this situation for Spain and other Catholic nations were terrible and reach today. In the sixteenth century, as always throughout the history of wars, technical advances were essential for victory – whether the iron sword against the bronze one or the legion against the Falange. However, Philip II, the king who had repeatedly sunk the economy, decided to prohibit Spanish students from enrolling in foreign universities. Spain paid the price in the battlefield. When the Navy – intendedto invade England to reintroduce Catholicism – clashedwith British ships, the Spanish were technically still at Lepanto. The English, however, despite their numerical inferiority and its minor economic importance, had not ceased to advance technically. The result is known to all. Of course then, as now, there were those who realized what was happening. In 1592, a decade before the publication of the King James Bible, when the Spanish empiremarched to its twilight bleeding by wars apparently justified by the fight against Protestantism, the disaster suffered by the landing force that would invade England led to one of the first questionings about Spain’s politics. In clear harmony with those principles, Ginés de Rocamora, an attorneyfrom Murcia, defended that Spain

should “appease France, reduce England, pacify Flanders and subdue Germany and Muscovy”.Triumphant Rocamoradid not overlook the audacity of his thesis, but he soon picked up an argument that, according to the approach of the CounterReformation, should dispel any possible and risky objection. Spain’s cause was the Catholic Church’s cause and, therefore, it was God’s. For this reason, people had to have the absolute conviction that “God will provide the means to discover newworlds and Potosi hills, as He did with the Catholic Monarchs of glorious memory ...”. Spain was thechosen nation and, in making the designs of God, He would provide the nation with resources. Rocamora’s ardent speech found a calm counterpoint in Francisco Monzón, another attorney that knew more about the impact that those wars were having on the Capital and the Court, maybe because he represented Madrid. It was evident to Monzónthat it was absurd to continue bleeding the empire in favor of repeatedly ungratefulinterests that were not Spain’s but someone else’s. To the apparently solid argumentthat Spain was facilitatingthe salvation and preventing the eternal perdition of their opponents, Monzón could not give a more concise and convincing answer: “if they want to lose their way, so be it”. Monzón was not heard. Spain continued squandering its resources – it sounds like recent stories about community funds or grants – and got ruined because the new world’s gold could not keep the party going for good. History does not stop for anyone, especially for those who insist on looking at an idealized past rather than the present and the future. As in the case of other differences that set us in a situation of serious inferiority, the eighteenth century witnessed some unsuccessful attempts to right the wrongs of the past. Father Feijoo, for example, who admired heretics such as Bacon and Newton, protested against superstition and pled for a scientific mindset that would make the nation advance. He was right, but it was no use.
Some nationssuch as France came off the frame of the Counter at some point and managed to recover, even partially, the lost time. For the rest, data would remain statistically frightening. According to John Hulley, an economist at the World Bank, out of all the Nobel prizes related to science and granted between 1901 and 1990, 86% had been won by Protestants and 22% by Jews. The statisticsis shocking. In fact, today we keep running into the same harmful bigotry in those who deny the reality of history, those who speak of nations that beat us for centuries without managing to match them, those who appeal to what has been “always” done, those who look down on those who question their prejudices, most especially if they are member of “different”minorities, and those who
watch over their shoulder to supporters of innovation because even learning English is debatablyconvenientto some of them. They might see themselves as the essence of the race, from a Spain chosen by God, but they are only part of the legion of fans that has chained this nation and othersto backwardness for centuries. Over the last half-century, Spain has certainly made progress in the field of science and the same could be said of other nations sociologically Catholic. However, do not be fooled. We still do not have one single university among the world’s hundred and fifty topuniversities and our Nobel Prizes flow in the field of literature. Among scientists, Cajal was an infidel anti-Catholic and Ochoa succeeded in the United States. The parallels with Portugal, Italy and Spanish Americaare evident u may 2013

Freedom Prison of
In the outskirts of Lima, an innovative project of prison re-socialization, encouraged by the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) and the Work of God, functions in a little space within the Penitenciaría Modelo (Model Penitentiary) Ancón II. It is an oasis of freedom based on the foundations of Christianity. Johan Pérez Landeo
in the outskirts of lima, a space within the Model Penitentiary Ancón II registers the highest levels of spiritual freedom per square meter every day. There, a group of 80 inmates, who does not dream with a jailbreak or does the impossible to kill time, usually shows an expression of satisfaction and goodness on the faces of its members.All of themhave this quality, giving the impression that this storyis not taking place in prison. They are participants of an innovative program of prison re-socialization encouraged by the National Penitentiary Institute (INPE) and the Worldwide Missionary Movement (WMM) in Peru. The original project, put into operation in August 2012, is an oasis of freedom based on the foundations of Christianity. It has renewed the prison system of Peru through the Word of God. In fact, the Logos of Jesus spreads all over the “Wing A of the Pavilion 3, Module III”, where the

“program of spiritual development” takes place, encouraging a completely opposite version of life behind bars. The participants, like a collage, show themselves as daily representatives of justice, goodness, solidarity, dignity, honesty, respect, humility, loyalty, faith, and love. Mr. Víctor Arieta Remiglio, Pastor of the Work of God, leads these religious efforts of the Movement within the Penitentiary Ancón II since its opening in November 11, 2010. Nowadays, the Almighty’s creed rescues the spirit of these people fallen in disgrace every day of the week, thanks to the efforts of both Pastor Víctor and a group of missionary brothers of theWMM. According to the Peruvian penitentiary authorities, the good news propagateover more than two thousand inmates every day without a break, having its stronger effects on the area inhabited by 80 prisoners converted to Christianity.

THE LORD’S WORK the director of the model Penitentiary Ancón II, Lic. César Bocanegra, is one of the promoters of the rehabilitation of Peruvian inmates. He is not just the only person who knows the most about the development of resocialization programs within this emblematic Penitentiary, but the person directly responsible of the constitution of this peculiar prison treatment sectorin August 2012.The INPE and the WMM achieved the peaceful and ordered coexistence of 80 inmates through the faith in God, a landmark within the history of Peruvian penitentiaries and certainly an interesting subject for specialized studies.

Mr. Bocanegra, as a psychologist, spare no praises when talking about the unexpected results obtained by these efforts founded in Christianity, and affirms the following: “Nine months have passed since the beginning of this project and we are very pleased with the impressive achievements obtained until nowadays. This area is especially free of corruption, drugs, quarrels, and it is the most ordered and calm in the whole establishment. The inmates who are members of this group are people completely dedicated to God thanks to the permanent labor of the WMM. It is undoubtedly a work of the Lord” u

The Lic. César Bocanegra Velásquez, the Pastor Arrieta and his group of collaborators, supported by the Director of the Penitentiary, were able to make this part of Ancón II renowned for its tranquility, even though it remains within an environment marked by the harshness of imprisonment. This place is ruled by the lessons of the Holy Scriptures and it is one of the best places for the offendersof Lima’s penitentiaries. There is no place for vices, meanness, and violence. The Pastor Arrieta also adds that this Evangelical zone is the best example that Jesus Christ is the only one able to change the life of any inmate.
THE LIGHT SHINES IN THE DARKNESS
The “program of spiritual development”, entitled by Bocanegra Velásquez, has become, since its constitution, a solid bridge and the ideal platform to bring a light of hope over its participants. The inmates have found a guiding light thanks to the joint work of the INPE, the
WMM, and the Renzo Costa company, which develops a training workshop focused on thetailoring of leather articles since September 2012. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, the members of the WMM improve their manufacturing skills of wallets, handbags, purses, belts, and document holders. They work in production groups of 12 members, working with precision and demonstrating the order of a roman legion. An important part of the products made by these skillful men,like Manuel Rey Sánchez, Javier Galbán Hernández, Lucio Galarza Cárdenas, Walter Bornás Espinoza, plus other 68 inmates and 8 students of the instructor Nora Huacre Sicha, supply the famous Peruvian company Renzo Costa, specialized in the commercialization of leather articles. For those who consider that God’s assistance is not necessary within the process of penitentiary re-socialization, the Christian sector of the Model Penitentiary Ancón II is an exemplary space ready to pass the examination of the most inquiring eyes. The Lic.Roger Trejo Calixto, Head of the Psychology Area, clearly states thatthe “program of spiritual development” has provedthat,after nine months, Christianity is and will be indispensable in the transformation process of inmatesof this Penitentiary located in the 42kilometer of the Carretera Panamericana Norte (North Pan-American Highway) u
CHRIST IS THE PATH marina bustamante, General Manager of the Renzo Costa company, was recognized as one of the most representative Peruvian businesswomen promoting the equality of work opportunities by the Consejo Nacional para la Integración de la Persona con Discapacidad (National Council of Persons with Disabilities – CONADIS)during the first months of 2013. She is one of the most compromised with the rehabilitation work of the WMM with the inmates of Ancón II. Marina,manager of the training workshop focused on the tailoring of leather articles within the Penitentiary,states that Christ is the best path towards
reinsertion for the 72 inmate members of the WMM. Always concerned by social problems, Marina Bustamante considers that the evangelist labor performed by the WMM in Ancón II deserves the best congratulations: “Thanks to this positive and spiritual labor, our workshop attained high acceptance among the inmates, who have decided to serve God. This group of evangelical prisoners, attending the classes of Mrs. Huacre, transmits lots of faith and every day proves that a religious space is essential for any type of rehabilitation and social reinsertion process. Furthermore, thanks to this project, I feel that God is closer to me and that I am by his side” u

In a society that worships people hogging media front pages, God has His first pages reserved for other kind of heroes.

hannah had no meaning as a person. According to the culture and religion of her time, she shouldhave had to spend the rest of her life alone, or at most, enjoying the sympathy of those around her. For many, she was considered useless as a person. That’s how unfair life is. Those were the rules of the game. Butthe teasing, the loneliness andthe contempt were not the worst. The worst were the harsh words of those around her. God Himself had closed her womb (I Samuel 1:6) and it seemed to have givensome peoplethe right to humiliate or abandon her. Hannah lived “full” of emptiness. She knew what it meant to while away the hours in the slow agony of loneliness and sadness. She could never hear a single cry. There was not a single night in which a child needed her. No one child of hers. She never had the secret pleasure of enjoying the shouting and the joy of a child fight sound. Her life was filled only with silence and deadly routine.God had closed her womb, and some might even think that her soul had also been closed. Hannah had heard since childhood that God loved women who had children. The High Priest had said many times that a woman who

didn’t give birth, was practically of no use… Some even said worse things: “What is your sin?”, “If God doesn’t give you children, there must be a reason!”, “Your husband already has children with another woman, why don’t you disappear once and for all?”. She had all day to meditate and examine her conscience. With no other business to mind, every moment of her existence was a fertile field to bitterness and hatred: to God, to her husband, to others, to herself. She knew many stories of some women in her situation that had left everything and had gone to the desert to mourn their sorrows. Others had even killed themselves.But Hannah did not. There was no need. No desert could be more arid than her future. Besides, her husband (although he loved her) had succumbed to the temptation of seeking a rival who could give him children. And her rival despised her too! Day after day her tears were her only companions. Tears and hunger, because sadness had stolen from hereverylittle pleasure. And day after day, her rival approached her to hurt her soul by always taking along all her children, who were fruits of her love with Elkanah, her husband (I Samuel. 1:5-7).
on the life of some religious leader, or on the consecration of some political or social leader. The story began with a woman from a very humble family. A WOMAN!
She could have given up on everything, have despaired. She had every right to fall into sadness, despair and discouragement. Nothing in her life had sense.Yet Hannah answered by worshiping God!She prayed and poured out her soul before Him even though she had every reason in the world to fill his soul with bitterness. She had found her meaning as a person by sitting in the presence of God, face to face with Him, knowing and loving Him, trying to understand the reasons for His ways, looking for the reason of her own life at the bottom of God’s heart! Face to face with the God who had closed her womb! (I Samuel 1: 10-13) Every day she woke up early and worshiped God (v. 19). Every day was new to her because her heart burned before God, although weeks, months, years went by… without anything happening,apparently. The story of the greatest revival in the history of Israel did not begin with the family of the High Priest. Nor it did with the kingdom, the prophets and even later, the story of the gospel itself. The majesty of the kingdom of Israel in the following years was far from resting
This woman’s prayer changed God’s people (v. 10), because Hannah, in her simplicity, had learned the secret of the relationship with the Almighty: “I have poured out my soul before the Lord” (v. 15). Hannah rejoiced in the presence of God, though God had closed her womb! And this no one could understand, not even the High Priest (Eli), who accused her of being drunk because he could not understand how a humble woman without any meaning in life could enjoyed worshiping God, despite that her life was full of sadness. God answered Hannah. Her heart was so different from others! God had often been alone with that woman, comforting and putting His hand on her. God had filled most of the emptiness that life left in her heart. Although the years had passed and God seemed absent every time she asked for a child, Hannah continued to worship God, and in time, God answered. He opened her womb! God is always on time. And Hannah’s son was a true example of dedication, obedience and service to the Lord before all… and Hannah poured out her soul before God once more. The same God that lived in her heart was so far to the priests! This is the reason whyGod put in the heart and lips of this woman the most important lesson of worship: “He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory” (I Samuel 2:8).

A simple yet beautiful poemcomposed by Anna B. Warner in the prelude to the American Civil War. This children’s ode, set to music by William Bradbury, eventually became one of the most recognized gospel songs worldwide. Johan Pérez Landeo
first appeared as a literary
text created by the American author Anna Bartlett Warner, “Jesus Loves Me” is one of the most emblematic songs of Christian music. Proof of that is its history of over150 years with great acceptance worldwide. A wide history of whirl-like resounding success that began in 1860 when this poem appeared in a novel called “Say and Seal” written by Susan Warner, Anna’ssister. The verse, intended to comfort a dying child, immediately came to life and aroused the interest of American society. This poem by Anna B. Warner, built on the basis of simple and elemental words, was set to music in 1862 by gospel composer William Batchelder Bradbury, editor of 59 books of Christian children’s songs, who after being struck by its simplicity added a chorus to provide greater sonority. One hundred and nine years later, in 1971, Reverend David Rutherford McGuire, a member of the review committee of the United Church of Canada, rewrote the verses of this hymn with the idea of reflecting the story told in Matthew 19:13-14 – where Jesus gathers children around – and outli28

Born in Long Island on August 31, 1827, Anna B. Warner stood out in her time as a prolific evangelicwriter of children’s fiction and theological works who published a considerable number of 31 novels. Along with her sister Susan, who also stood out by her literary talent, Anna surrendered to the Lord in 1830 and never left the arms of Christianityever since. Although the early years of her long life were not happy - she lost her parents Henry and Anna and suffered the rigors of the economic depression that struck America in 1837 – shenever became dispirited and always clung to the love of the Creator. After the financial crisis, Warneralong with her entire family moved to a country house near the United States Military Academy, known as “West Point”, from where she began to share her evangelical faith, especially with the cadets of the oldest military basein America. So every Sunday, accompanied by Susan, she found

This song was recorded, among other artists, by the songwriter Ray Stevens, the singers Shanice, Dionne Warwick and Brenda Lee, the musician Bod Carlisle, the Alabamaband, and the singer Bobby Womack. It was also part of the best-selling soundtrack of all time: the soundtrack of “The Bodyguard” film.

At the same time, she began her literary career under the pseudonym Amy Lothrop in order to make her living and also to spread the main Christian teachings. Nowadays, thesongof Anna Bartlett Warner, who passed away on January 22, 1915, is still an ideal vehicle to bring God’sWord to the whole world. It has been translated, taught, reviewed and sung on countless occasions in the five continents. This simple hymn, with an even more simple chorus, captures the essence of the Gospel and, especially, presents Jesus and what He did for mankind in terms so simple that any child or adult who is willing to listen can understand the explicit message impregnated in its lyricswithout much effort. Dwight Lyman Moody was definitely one of the greatest evangelists of all time. The meetings he held in North America and Europe are considered the largest the world has ever seen. Ed Reese
dwight lyman moody was the first evangelist ‒since George Whitefield‒ to shake two continents towards Jesus Christ, and also the man of God most listened to before the electronic age, according to Christian historians. Born on February 5, 1837 in a small farm in the town of Northfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts, he was the sixth of nine children in a family of farmers whose economic condition was very unstable. He had a rough childhood since he soon experienced the absence of his father, Edwin Moody, when he died suddenly leaving seven children and his wife pregnant with twins. Although Dwight Lyman was only four at the time, he was deeply impressed by the shadow of his father’s death. Following the events, creditors seized all his family’s belongings, and even the firewood they had to protect themselves

from the cold. Under such circumstances, his mother, Betsy Holton, became an example of perseverance and strength. She kept her nine children busy and always active with the household chores. She also taught them the Scriptures every day, and took them to the Unitarian church services and the local Sunday school regularly. Moody’s formal education was limited to the courses he was able to take at the district school, and as a boy, he had to earn a living by performing various tasks. In 1854, at the age of 17, he decided to try his luck in the city of Boston and was employed by his uncle, Samuel Holton, as a worker in his shoe store. One of the conditions of his contract was that he had to regularly attend the Congregational Church of Mount, led by Pastor Edward Norris Kirk, and the Sunday school of this congregation. g

Obedient to the voice of God, Kimball approached him in a corner of his uncle’s shoe store and told him about the love of Jesus Christ. Kimball said, “I want to tell you how much Christ loves you.” Moody knelt down and was converted. The impact of the Creator in his life made such a change that he began to have a great love for those in need, looking for children for 32

the vineyards of the Lord. Before the end of the first year of this effort, the average attendance was 600 students divided into eighty classes; then 1000, and sometimes even 1500. On September 18, 1856, he went to Chicago, where another uncle helped him get a job in a shoe store run by the Wiswall brothers. However, his interest in the missionary work continued, so he became a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. There he rented four benches he used to meet with his coworkers and people from the street.
In 1858 he began his work in the slums, devoting all his efforts to Sunday schools. He was very encouraged by the response of young people. By then he was determined to serve Christ in that activity, which he did after two years. When the American Civil War began in April 1861, he set up a tent in order to hold worship services for the soldiers, which later became a Christian temple. He did not take part of the conflict between north and south for reasons of conscience, but he served as an evangelist and in every social and humanitarian work he could. By the time the war ended, Moody had held 1500 worship services, having shown unmistakable strength and energy as he was everywhere encouraging, exhorting, praying and rejoicing in the opportunity God was giving him to work and harvest souls in the midst of war. MISSIONARY WORK
Moody married Emma Charlotte Revell, a follower of Jesus Christ, on August 28, 1862, when he was twenty-five and she was nineteen. Later, in 1863, he set up an interdenominational church in Chicago. He was appointed President of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in 1866. Five years later, on October 8, 1871, his church was destroyed by a famous fire that ruined much of the “Windy City”. Then, using the YMCA connections with the UK, he decided to go on an evangelistic tour to Europe in 1873. There he preached to many congregations in Scotland, Ireland and England for two years. As a result of his evangelist work in the Old World, thousands of people were converted and others were challenged to devote their lives to evangelism. Dwight Lyman Moody also contributed to the foundation of the Bible Training Institute in Glasgow, an institution dedicated to the instruction of Christian workers, which remains a prestigious Biblical seminary today. Furthermore, during a conference in Dublin (Ireland), from the words of the preacher Henry Varley, Moody received a great challenge and the motto of his life: “The world has yet to see what God can do through a man who is totally devoted.”
Returning to the United States as a famous revival preacher, he found success in cities like Brooklyn, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago and Boston. In 1881 he returned to Britain where he stayed until 1884. Once again, large crowds attended his services; and the same happened in Canada and elsewhere. Moody was even invited to preach at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. He was also in many cities in the United States, Canada and Mexico presenting the Gospel message. His conviction that the men of God who had been called to preach should be prepared and educated, led him to found three schools: the Bible Institute of Chicago, the Northfield Seminary and the Mount Hermon School. SPIRITUAL LEGACY
Moody was not an evangelist with verbose and pompous oratory. Rather, he came off as a simple man of his time, who captivated audiences with intimate and sentimental style of storytelling, with a regional and familiar nature. His central theme was the love of God. His message, which was simple to understand, was summed up in: ruin by sin, redemption thanks to Christ, regeneration through the Holy Spirit. He left the world a number of books, but never wrote one himself. His gospel sermons, biblical characters, devotional and doctrinal studies were compiled from his spoken word. Additionally, he founded the Colportorado Association to provide Christian literature at low prices. Dwight Lyman Moody was never ordained to the ministry of any church; however, he was the evangelist who preached to more people in his time. He died the morning of December 22, 1899, at six o’clock, in the midst of an evangelistic campaign he was conducting in Kansas. “And this is dying? For it is the same bliss. The earth recedes, heaven opens, God calls me. I must go”, were his last words. Currently, the number of people who heard the gospel from his lips is estimated at no less than one hundred million, and his schools are instructing many others to bring the good news to the world u may 2013

rubeth antezana pozo was a rosy-cheeked little girl, with eyes as awake and bright as most children in Puquio, a village in the Andean area of Ayacucho. She lived with her parents in an adobe clay house with a red tiled roof, where she was very happy. Though, that happy childhood had a sudden breach when she just turned seven years old. A terrible event that would determine a trauma to her sexual identity: the day her father Dacio Antezana Huamaní, a dynamic trader in the region, and her mother, Maria Pozo, a typical Puquian woman, left her home alone. The absence of her parents was seized by an evil relative, her mother’s cousin, who was in town at the time. This person, who was embodied by the devil, knew the exact moment in which Rubeth’s mother left the house, and came to the door smiling, hiding those perverse desires in his dark heart. As a trusted relative, he got into the house easily and found the girl alone in a room; he then put his filthy hands on her innocent body. Weeks later, the same situation happened again, disrupting the child’s sexuality.

Gradually, the small and lively Rubeth started behaving as a man. Soccer became her favorite sport, and other children even looked for her as she was an excellent goalkeeper. But when she was alone, she did not know what was happening. All her friends from the Jayao School in Puquio knew she was a woman, but with a manly appearance and a haircut with side parting. Her teachers never said or objected to anything, because she was an excellent student with outstanding grades. At home the situation was similar: her parents accepted her rough and manly manners because it somehow fulfilled their desire of having a son, since they had eight girls. The threat of terrorism in Peru and, particularly in Ayacucho, during the eighties and nineties terribly affected Rubeth’s family business in Puquio, as terrorists burned their store due to the fact that her father had been unfaithful to her mother for many years. This forced the family to make decisions that would change her life. After finishing primary school, she was

taken to Ica to continue her secondary studies at San Luis Gonzaga School. Meanwhile, her mother stayed in Puquio with some of her sisters. Living with her brother Abraham had no complications. He introduced her to his girlfriend and friends as his younger brother Ruben, a dynamic and dedicated young man. Rubeth, who had now become a teenager, was convinced she was a boy when she looked in the mirror, but was tormented thinking about the fact that she only lacked her sexual organ. For this reason, she repudiated her parents and God. After school, she used to go with the boys, in groups, to an all-girl school to look at the girls and try to seduce them. She had many girlfriends who never suspected anything, as she never had sex with them. However, her false identity began to cause her problems when she was about to finish high school, as she went through the necessary steps to get her military certificate. “They saw me standing in the women’s line and told me I was crazy for doing that, they didn’t believe that I was a woman. For that reason, I switched to the men’s line and so they took my information and my picture”, she recalls. Later, she deceptively managed to get her ID as Ruben as well, so legally she was a boy. She was getting what she wanted, but still, she wanted something else, a change that would allow her to live with nothing to hide. Her goal was to have a sex reassignment surgery to become a man from head to toe, and in order to do so, she

needed to change her course, so she decided that after high school, she was moving to Lima. THE CONQUEST OF THE CAPITAL
She thus moved to Lima, the most important city in Peru, to work. With 19 years old, she started a new life in Callao, where she began managing her aunt’s pharmacy. It was a time of discovery in which she started going to gay nightclubs in Lima and Miraflores. During that time, Rubeth met the father of her children when he came to the pharmacy to buy a painkiller. His name was Jaime Osorio Muro, he came from Chiclayo and was also homosexual. She asked him to go out and talk later, and he agreed because he thought the attractive manager behind the counter was a man. They went for a walk around the streets of Lima, and then had dinner at a restaurant. When the night came to an end and it was time to say goodbye, they kissed. They were two confused souls, who had not yet found the truth. This strange relationship continued for three years, where they both took on disrupted roles: Rubeth was the male, while Jaime was the female. But this huge lie would crumble like a sand mountain in August 1997. One day they went to a restaurant and started drinking alcohol, which led to sexual advances and caresses. Influenced by the effects of alcohol, Rubeth wanted to experience if she really liked men for the first time, so they finally went to a hotel to engage in

rences and congresses of our day are exact copy of the Ephesian Church. We are told that we are seated with Christ. What a lie! We are Ephesians all right; but, as the Ephesian Church in the Revelation, we have “left our first love!”. We consent to the sin and are devoid of our first love. We consent to the sin, but do not fight it. To such a cold, carnal, indifferent Church, this lustful, licentious world will never capitulate. Let’s stop looking for excuses. The fault in declining morality is not radio or television. The whole blame for the present international degeneration and corruption lies at the door of the Church! Church is no longer a thorn to the world. Let’s remember that it has not been in times of popularity but of persecution that the true Church has always triumphed. It is strange that we are so simple as to believe that the Church is presenting to men the New Testament ideals, while we live totally divorced from them.

WHY DOES REVIVAL TARRY?
The answer is simple enough: Because evangelism is highly commercialized. The tithes of widows and of the poor are spent in luxury-living by many evangelists. The great crowds of listeners and “converts”, great appreciation by the authorities, etc., are shouted to high heaven. All things are objects of publicity, except for the loveoffering! The poor dupes who give their tithe think they are doing God service, while all they are doing is keeping a big-reputationed, small-hearted preacher living in Hollywood style. Preachers who have homes and cottages by the lake, a boat on that lake, and a big
bank balance, still beg for better salaries. Could God entrust Holy Spirit revival to such greedy earners? These doll-like preachers, who wear two or three outfits a day, preach the Jesus of the stable, but they stay in five-star hotels. They bleed the audience financially in the name of the One who had to borrow a penny to illustrate His sermon. They wear trendy suits in honor of the One who wore a simple worker’s robe. They feast on nice steaks in remembrance of the One who fasted in the desert. Such Christian workers believe they are worth, not only their salaries, but the compound interests from their bank accounts. How terrible this all will be on the Day of Judgment! may 2013

Revival tarries because ofcheapening of the Gospel. We now have church hymns played strictly to dance tempo on our sacred records and over the radio, as well as in the churches. We have the precious blood of Jesus to the rhythm of waltz. Imagine! We have the Holy Spirit syncopated! Pulpits have become a shopwindow to display our gifts, and the visiting team often looks like a mannequin parade. It would be easier to hear a frog playing Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata than to see one of the preachers of our times preaching with the anointing of the Holy Spirit that makes the audience shiver. Evangelists today are willing to do anything to make a few people stand up and come to the pulpit. By not mentioning sin and damnation, they call out: “Who wants help? Who wants more power?
Who wants to be closer to God?” Such an easy faith dishonors the blood and defiles the altar. It is not said that the altar is a place where the world and its sin are put to death. Let’s make it easy, not hard! There should remain those who do not want to pay the price of a genuine conversion to God. Revival tarries because of carelessness for souls. Little time is used in guiding seekers, among which there may be some eager and sincere. While the smart preacher leaves them stranded in the hands of a Christian with more goodwill than right words; he drinks the cream of the praises of his admirers. With such spiritual neglect is not surprising that the faithful are confused and dazed. Revival tarries because of fear. As evangelists, we are tight-lipped about the
false religions of the day, as if there were more than one Name whereby men must be saved. But Acts 4:12 is still in the Scriptures. To the modern preacher, this seems ridiculous. Elijah mocked the prophets of Baal and sneered with scorn at their impotence. Better to destroy the false gods (as Gideon did) than fail to do the will of God.The Christless cults and deity-dishonoring mushroom religions incur the wrath of God. Will no one sound the alarm? We are not Protestants anymore, just non-Catholics! Against what are we protesting? If we were half the Christians we claim to be and had a tenth of the love to the truth and the souls that we claim to have, our Christian people would be bathed in blood because of the persecution, but also in the fire of the Holy Spirit. Wesley saw the doors of the English churches closed against him, and Rowland Hill said of him: “He and his lay-lubbers, – his ragged legion of preaching tinkers, scavengers, draymen, and chimney sweepers, etc. – go forth to poison the minds of men”. But Wesley did not fear ridicule. He challenged men and demons. If Whitefield was burlesqued in the basest way, and if, in the New Testament, Christians were stoned and suffered every ignominy, how is it then, since sin and sinners have not changed, that we preachers no longer raise the wrath of hell? Why are we so regular, so splendidly null? We can have riots without revival, nut in the light of the Bible and History, can we have revival without riots? Revival tarries because we lack urgency in prayers. Once, a famous preacher said these words: “I have come to this conference with a great burden for prayer in my heart. Will those who will share this with me, please raise their hands; and let none of us be hypocrites”. There were many hands up, but later that week when a half night of prayer was called, this big preacher went to bed. Not much of a hypocrite! Integrity has passed away! All is superficial! The biggest single factor contributing to delayed Holy Spirit revival is this omission of travail for the birth of regenerated souls. We are substituting propaganda for propagation of primitive times. How insa-
ne! The New Testament adds a valuable postscript concerning Elijah in James 5:17 where it says “he prayed”. Had it not been for that, we would read the Old Testament story and, noting the omission of prayer, we wouldonly say: “Elijah prophesied.” We have not yet resisted unto blood in prayer, neither have we “get a sweat on our souls,” as Luther said. We pray with a “take-it-or-leave-it” attitude, we pray when there is the chance to do it. We offer that which costs us nothing; we do not even feel “strong desire” for what we pray for. We are fitful, soft and spasmodic. The only power that God yields to is the power of prayers. We write about prayer-power. Anundeniabletitle for the Church today, would be “We Wrestle Not!”. We will display our gifts, natural or spiritual; we will air our views, political or spiritual; we will preach a sermon or write a book to correct a doctrine or teach a brother, but who will storm hell’s stronghold? Who will deny himself good food or good company or good rest in order to free captives from the snares of Satan and bring souls trophies washed by the blood of Christ? Finally, revival tarries because we steal the glory that belongs to God. Listen to this and wonder: Jesus said: “I receive not honour from men” and “How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?”
(John 5:41, 44). Away with all the backslapping flattery: “My radio program…” “My church…” “My books…”! These introductions with the usual and expected: “We are greatly privileged to have among us…”, etc. Preachers, who have received everything they have by grace, not only accept all this praise, but they expect it! And the worst is that many times, after having listened to them, we wonder whether they are worth what has been said of them, if they weren’t the subject of pompous announcement. God of mercy, how little you get from all this! Why not ful fill Your threat and spew us out of Your mouth? We have failed. We are filthy. We love men’s praise. Lord, lift us from the fall! Bless us with breakings! Judg ment must begin with us preachers! u

“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalms126:5, 6.

these bible verses express that the first step is to sow, then to weep. We first go forth, therefore we weep. “HE THAT GOETH FORTH AND WEEPETH.” There are people who cry but do not go on, and there are some who weep but do not sow; these tears are meaningless and do not solve anything. Our tears gain significance when we sow the seed, the reward lies there. If we just keep crying, that will lead us to nowhere; we must GO FORTH AND WEEP. The Lord saved me when I was ten years old. That memorable night, the preacher told me to step upon the platform, then he put his hands on my head and prayed: “Lord, if it takes more time for your arrival, make this kid a Gospel’s preacher.” The Holy Spirit engraved that moment in my soul. That night of October 1928, the Lord saved me and called me to the holy ministry, burnt my heart with the flame of the divine calling, and baptized me in the name of the Holy Spirit. A few months later, my sister,Pilar, who led the “Sociedad de Niños” (Children’s Society) in the church, designated me for

the worship. When the worship’s day came, I stepped trembling into the front, and read the Parable of the Sower with a quivering voice. When I finished, I could not speak anymore and started to cry. I was crying for who knows how much time, after which I sat down. That was my first worship, a worship of tears, and I believe it was the best one. It seemed that the Lord was showing me the trail of tears which I should follow in my labor and ministry. “HE THAT GOETH FORTH AND WEEPETH, BEARING PRECIOUS SEED.” Afterwards, in 1939, during my first year of study in a Bible Institute, the Lord called me to the missionary work and showed me the trail of tears. A morning of 1941, when teaching in the same institute where I graduated from, the classes were about to begin and I asked one of the students to guide us during the prayer. In that moment, the Holy Spirit descended upon him and my student began to talk in strange languages. Even though we were all listening these strange languages, I understood perfectly in my own language that the Lord told me: “I have called you, I have

I will protect you, I will bless you, and I will defeat any opposition, always giving you the victory.” ¡Glory to God, He did it! After those events, I sent a letter to the missionary officers explaining my call and my purpose to obey God’s will. My two superiors did not want me to leave Puerto Rico, since they argued that I was very useful here. During the meeting to decide my situation, both of my superiors agreed not to let me travel, but the Holy Spirit descended upon one of them, and make him give a message to the other one in strange languages. After that, the Holy Spirit descended upon my second officer and used him to interpret the message. The Lord said: I have called him, I have chosen him, I need him, I sent him, thus says the Lord. Both officers, therefore, changed their decision. A while later, another mistaken officer opposed my mission. Nevertheless, the

We had to exchange our clothes for food, my wife lost our first child, etc. Nevertheless, we thank God for all the tests and tears, because it was a training time that God was giving us for bigger responsibilities and glorious blessings. In 1946, my first book was published. It was aboutmissionary experiences and during its first three years it was entitled: “Gavillasqueregó el llanto, andando y llorando” (Sheaves of tears; going forth and weeping). Hour by hour, day by day, week by week; there is not time enough to relate all the sufferings, all the tears shed in these years fighting the evil forces for the good of souls. Nevertheless, many days, weeks or months would not be time enough to mention the great blessings and glorious victories that God gave us. Because it is true that “(HE) SHALL DOUBTLESS COME AGAIN WITH REJOICING, BRINGING HIS SHEAVES WITH HIM.” There are people who would like to go forth but not crying, who would like to sowbut without tears. There are the ones who want to reap in joybut without the sweat and tears of sowing. They covet success but evade work; bless the rose but curse its thorns; envy blessings but reject affliction; look for recognition but escape from the suffering; desire the crown but without carrying the cross. Those people are parasites, opportunists, whose god is their ambition. Even though, their goals are impossible since this path is about GOING FORTH AND WEEPING. My beloved one, if God calls you to dedicate your life to the blessed mission of rescuing souls for the Kingdom of Heaven, or to the missionary work, the best you can do is to obey the Lord. God fulfilled and continues fulfilling His promises through this people, descendants of Abraham in flesh. The so-called Judeo-Christian culture is the most influential and recognized throughout the history of mankind. Evangelicalsfound their faith on the Scriptures – whichthey recognized as the only inspired Word of God and have been translated into more than a thousand languages and dialects around the world – andthey strive to make it reach the hands of every man on earth by all the means at their disposal. The nations that have embraced the Gospel as part of their national life are in the forefront of all that is good and useful in all branches of human activity. All this is as part of a perfect plan designed by God for mankind.

She has a long experience in the missionaryand ministerialfield by spreading our Lord Jesus Christ’s message and giving practical advice based on the Holy Scriptures. Sister Gladys de Vergara is a woman of faith and missionary vision who turned out to be a brilliant complement to the ministry of Rev ClementeVergara. The lessonstaught by her during the conference were very helpful to the ladies from Zone 1. Rev ClementeVergara is the Supervi-
sor of the Netherlands Antilles, Guiana, French Guiana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and is also responsible for overseeing Africa along with his brother Rev Romulo Vergara. Many sisters in the area made great efforts to be present at the conference. In the mornings the main hall of the church was filled with ladies, while in the evening service, the structure’sstands and side spaces were crowded with sisters and brothers with the strong desire to receive a blessing. Rev Alberto Ortega’s visit meant a great blessing for the Madagascar’sChurch, which was strengthened through the preaching of God’s Word. the island of madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world with an area of 592 000 km2 after Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo – islocated in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Mozambique. This country has a population of nearly 22 million people and its capital, Antananarivo, is situated in the center of the island. The Malagasy people are descended from Indo-Malayan seafarers, and their staple crop is rice grown on the slopes. Malagasy, their native language, has a Malayo-Polynesian origin and is spoken throughout the island. However, French isa former colonial language

since last december 2, 2012, Sister DeyleYurleyLaguadoCarreño, who comes from the Church of La Concordia in Bucaramanga, Colombia, has been preaching the Word in the Philippines. This Church has a team of at least 7 members who faithfully support the Lord’s Work in this country. Last March 26, Sister Greisis Hernandez Vines joined this work; she comes from Colombia, from the Church in Zone 45– departmentof Bolivar, Turbaco Township, in “CalleEstrella” sector – at which she was working under the presbytery of Rev Carlos IvánArango. The Work in the Philippines has reached new preaching spaces and evangelistic places. In the city of Antipolo, thepreaching field was attended by 22 members of a family on Monday, March 25. They all together praised God, received the Word and finallyembraced Lord Jesus Christ as savior of their lives. On Thursday and Friday, March 28 and 29, an evangelistic campaign was held in different towns of Quezon City – BarangayMalaya, K-10, Matahimik , and Kalayaan – by Rev Samuel David Mejia with the approval and support of the Asian Missionary Supervisor. The team of brothers evangelized wearing a T-shirt printed with the phrase “A better country, Jesus Christ is the solution”on the front and with the WMM logo and the phrase “Jesus Saves”on the back, both written in Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines. Each brother of the new congregation went to the places mentioned before to announce the good news of salvation, thus making an impact on lives in the streets by personalized evangelism. They went to some places where idolatry is strongly practicedand also visited places difficult to reach such as the “esquinitas” – narrow alleyswith a large number of residents and rooms used as a apartments – thanks to the willingness of the inhabitants of these areas who showed their hunger and thirst for the Word of God u

from february 28 to march 2, the Worldwide Missionary Movement’s church in Puebla, Mexico, hosted anuplifting Pastors Retreat in Zone 2 of the Work. The local priest, Rev AudielAlcantara Ponce, and the organizing Pastor, Asunción Borges Santos, both attended this spiritual activity. During these days of relentless pursuit of the presence and power of God, the ministerial body was uplifted and renewed by the Lord.
on tuesday, february 12, Rev Alvaro Garavito, WMM National Supervisor in Guatemala, visited the new Church of Loma Blanca in Zone 21. The joy among the brothers of the Church could be seen on their faces and the news of the visit spread so fast that the temporary temple was crowded with people eager to hear the Word of God. That nightamong the attendees there were friends, brothers from other congregations, the local priest and pastors from Sector 2. The Word of God flowed in a clear and concise manner. The theme was “The wise shall shine”.

from february 22 to 24, the First Fellowship of the year was held in Zone 2, in the city of Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas. This event brought together many pastors and their congregations from Quevedo, Buena Fe, Patricia Pilar and La Concordia. On Sunday morning, the Holy Communion was celebrated with all the brothers of the Zone; the manifestation of the power of God healed and filled many hearts. During this sacramental ceremony, the occasion was used to remind of the soon coming of Christ, which makes the Church uphold its holiness, knowing that without holiness no man shall see the Lord.
