Market update $526 million worth of property sold recently. Almost half of those sales were at auction whilst the other half sold privately. 529 auctions were reported to the Real Estate Institute of Victoria with 327 selling and 202 being passed in -128 of those on a vendors bid. The clearance rate was 62%. The Australian stock market took a significant tumble recently, leaving many investors worse off than they were after the global financial crisis. The stock market’s ongoing volatility has highlights the importance of holding a diverse investment portfolio. Investing in property, whilst also subject to regular peaks and troughs, is a less volatile option and always a positive performer over the medium to long term.
