1850 H eritage Fellows The 1850 Heritage Fellows allows Illinois Wesleyan University to recognize and honor individuals who have chosen to provide for the University through their estate plans or a deferred gift. The 1850 Heritage Fellows continues the tradition begun by our founders to preserve, create and share knowledge and wisdom. Married alumnae are listed under their married surnames followed by their birth name in parentheses. A single asterisk (  *) indicates the donor is deceased.

We invite you to consider  membership in the

1850 Heritage Fellows by joining other alumni, parents and friends who have invested in the future of Illinois Wesleyan University. Membership is offered to those individuals and families who make provisions for Illinois Wesleyan University in one of the following ways:

A. Bequest Intention. Name Illinois Wesleyan University as a beneficiary in a new or revised Will or add a Codicil to an existing Will. B. Make a future gift from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), retirement plan, pension, or other qualified plan. Name Illinois Wesleyan University as a designated beneficiary for such plans. C. Gift Annuity. Enter into an agreement with Illinois Wesleyan University for a charitable gift annuity or a deferred gift annuity to provide a life income for one or two lives. D. Estate Note (Deferred Gift Agreement). This irrevocable pledge form is a legally binding claim against the donor’s estate. The donor provides the University with a designated sum or a specified percentage of his (or her) estate at death. E. “Pay on Death” Financial Accounts. When a person sets up a savings account, share account or certificate of deposit for the benefit of another person or a charitable interest at his/her death, the balance of the account passes outside the provisions of the Will. F. Life Insurance. Name Illinois Wesleyan University as the sole or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy. When Illinois Wesleyan University is named the owner and the beneficiary, you will receive an income tax deduction for the annual premium payments, if paid to the University, with the University making the premium payments at its election. G. Retain a life estate interest. Donors may choose to give their home, recreational home, or farmland and retain a “lifetime interest” in the property. H. Charitable Remainder Trusts. An irrevocable charitable remainder unitrust or annuity trust benefits the donor(s) today and Illinois Wesleyan University in the future. Trusts may be modified in a variety of ways to suit the objectives of the donor. The trustee pays income to the donor and/or someone else for life or for a specified number of years, and then the remainder is paid to the University.
