Program active students are required to complete the placement assessments before their first registration so they can discuss the results with their program advisor. Contact the Student Services Office for more information concerning placement testing. The Dean of Instruction may waive this requirement in cases where it is impossible for the student to take placement assessment. Advisors will assist students in choosing the appropriate courses based on their placement scores to facilitate students’ success in their chosen programs. Students with placement scores that do not qualify for collegelevel courses may be required to take additional courses in English and/or mathematics designed to enhance a student’s skills in these disciplines. Students who take the placement assessments at sites other than IỊisaġvik must send the results to the Registrar’s Office before registering for classes. Village students may take the ASSET test at the North Slope Borough teleconference office in their village.
