Satisfactory attendance – delegates must attend all sessions of the course. Delegates who miss more than 2 hours of the course sessions will not be eligible to sit the course assessment. Successful completion of the course assessment.

Delegates who do not meet these criteria will receive an IIRME Certificate of Attendance. If delegates have not attended all sessions, the Certificate will clearly state the number of hours attended.

Joseph is an electrical engineer by profession with a career in the manufacturing industry since 1990 and an exposure to various industrial processes, whilst developing a broad level of management skills. Joseph also has extensive experience in the services sector. His experience has led him to occupy senior management positions within the plastics manufacturing and processing sectors, pharmaceutical and electronics manufacturing industries for a span of over 20 years. Joseph has taken to private practice freelance consultancy since 1999, offering his services to a selected number of clients. His experience ranges from consultancy, training and facilitation services to clients within the manufacturing and services sectors alike, supporting them in building better operational systems. Joseph's main areas of expertise range from the implementation of quality management systems (ISO9001:2008), and seeking areas of improvement and implementing strategies to achieve such, to, minimising process waste through lean management principles, implementing statistical process control (SPC), operational process re-engineering, safety, management consultancy and a portfolio of other services within the operations, management and technical fields. Joseph brings with him a broad portfolio from a vast range of business sectors, ranging from plastics processing, electronics manufacturing, printing, carpentry/furniture makers, engineering industries, food industry, industrial and hotel kitchens, warehousing and logistics, real estate, insurance, project management, social care/constituted bodies, surveillance and security services, information technology, etc. While being actively involved in quality management, Ing. Joseph Micallef is a member of a number of institutions. In particular he is registered Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council (UK), corporate member in the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK) and warranted member with the Chamber of Engineers (Malta). Joe has served as an active member in a number of workgroups and boards of study within a number of entities and is currently sitting on the Malta Engineering Board.

This course also highlights the implications of different business strategies and the process of aligning these strategies with the operating framework. Furthermore, you will be able to identify critical processes in an organisation and address them by streamlining these processes with a competitive business advantage. With the introduction of a simple diagnostic toolkit you will be able to evaluate the performance of your current critical processes and identify those which need improvement; in particular, those which have a significant impact on the overall profitability of the organisation as a whole. Having determined priorities for improvement, the course will enable you to plan a process improvement initiative by developing a Business Transformation Programme. You will also be able to develop a compelling business case for relevant stakeholders in order to gain appropriate buy-in for implementation. The second part of the course will take on a more operational role. You will subsequently learn the basic principles of how to flowchart the process, as well as, learn techniques required for such purpose. You will also learn how to critically evaluate and streamline the process for functional efficiency. Finally, in recognising the difficulties presented by managing change, the course will conclude with an overview on managing business process transformation with the help of specific project management methodologies. You will be able to consider the softer aspects of the transformation process including the management of people involved, as well as, how resistance to change could be minimised. This course will be delivered with a balanced mix of tutored and workshop-style sessions by a hands-on leader in this field of organisational diagnostics and business process reengineering. The sessions are structured to include several exercises and tasks to reinforce experiential learning, debate and experimentation.

Course Methodology And Assessment The training style adopted during this interactive case-study based workshop shall be through interactive open discussion, syndicate workshops and individual work, with a practical presentation style.
