Associate Certificate In Environmental Management Meet Your Expert Course Leader Dr. Douglas McMillan Senior QEHS & Energy Consultant and Trainer – Managing Director, BioLogic Douglas has over 20 years of combined practical experience in academic research, consultancy, auditing and training in the fields of environment, health and safety, carbon, energy, laboratory, quality management systems, sustainability, CSR and ecology. He has worked with organisations in the public and private sectors from SMEs to multinationals in Ireland, UK, Europe and the Middle East. Dr. Douglas McMillan received an Honours BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Durham and has a PhD in Environmental Science. He is a Full Member of IEMA, a Fellow of The Irish Institute of Training & Development and a Member of the Society of Biology. Douglas has a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, a Graduate Member of IOSH and a Member of the Association of Energy Engineers. He is also a qualified auditor of ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 management systems and has extensive knowledge of the associated energy, environmental and health and safety legislation having produced registers of legislation for the Irish, Northern Irish, UK and other European jurisdictions.

Course Overview The Associate Certificate in Environmental Management is designed to raise the professional competence of environmental practitioners by developing and assessing your knowledge, understanding and application of environmental management and assessment. Successful completion of the certificate exam results in the award of Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) Associate membership, which is the essential professional qualification for working in an environmental role. This professional qualification covers the A-Z of environmental management responsibilities from understanding key legislation, right through to collecting, analysing and reporting environmental data and communicating to stakeholders. Completing the Associates Certificate in Environmental Management course will provide you with the knowledge you need to sit the IEMA Associates Exam. Successfully passing this exam gains you membership to the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. IEMA membership is quickly becoming a prerequisite in all industry job descriptions in order to ensure that candidates are knowledgeable, competent and highly trained. Methodology Although a tutor lead course, there will be lots of group discussions, case studies and exercises to test your understanding. We will use case histories at global and local levels and distance learning after the course to prepare you for the exam. The exam will made available for you to take online after completion of the course. Please note in order to take the Associate’s exam you must have satisfactory attendance on the course.

Cancellation If you are unable to attend, a substitute delegate will be welcome in your place. Registrations cancelled more than 7 days before the Event are subject to a $200 administration charge.
