INSIDE THIS ISSUE

In this issue of The Scorecard , our cover story on page 12 looks at the 2023 BCWomen's Amateur Championship held at Arbutus Ridge GClocated in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. A record-setting final round propelled Victoria's Chelsea Truong to the title. The golf facility and the entire Cowichan Valley region proved to be fantastic hosts for the event and you can see a video detailing just some of what can be discovered alongside outstanding golf in the area on page 22. In addition to the Women's Amateur, BCGolf also unveiled two new championships with the inaugural Indigenous Championship British Columbia (pages 24 & 25) and the All Abilities Championship (pages 14&16) in May and June respectively. There was

another BCGolf championship held In June as well, and anyone remotely familiar with the name Shelly Stouffer will likely not be overly surprised to learn that she won her record fourth consecutive BC Senior Women's title at Christina Lake GC. Brad Ziemer has that wrap-up on page 18 and also has a feature interview with long-time Christina Lake GM Kevin Maffioli on page 20. Following Abbotsford, BC's Nick Taylor's historic win in the RBC Canadian Open, Ziemer spoke with Nick's parents to get their perspective on the significance of their son's achievement (page 29). Sadly, we also had to say goodbye to well-respected official and volunteer Bill Kein. You can see his In Memoriam on page 26
