uttercup Bake Shop* is a place to walk into and feel deliciously overwhelmed by display cases filled with cupcakes in every color of the rainbow, counters crowded with classic American

layer cakes, and “just like Grandma’s” muffins, buns, cookies, bars and squares. Customers tell me they feel embraced by childhood memories of their neighborhood bake shop.

I

n 1999, Jennifer Appel, co-founder of the legendary Magnolia Bakery in Greenwich Village, opened her own bake shop on Second Avenue near 52nd Street. Her recreations of the mouthwatering desserts we loved when we were growing up made the Buttercup Bake ShopTM an immediate hit with the people who live and work in midtown Manhattan. ❖

❖ These

classic desserts are satisfying the midtown neighborhood folk as well as the most prestigious of clients. Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Tiffany’s,

Now, Jennifer has also created an opportunity for qualified individuals to own and operate their own Buttercup Bake Shop. This comprehensive franchise program provides the systems, training and on-going support to enable them to join her in bringing these quality baked goods to those who crave old-fashioned desserts.

New York magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Miramax films, DreamWorks, the David Letterman show and many Broadway theaters, among others, have all been celebrating their special occasions with these delightfully delicious cakes and cupcakes.

With information moving at the speed of light,

Buttercup Bake Shop lets you slow down and while away an afternoon sipping your favorite beverage and enjoying some delectable, nost a l g i c

Our display cases are always filled with a wide variety of layer cakes, sheet cakes, bundt cakes, coffee-cakes and cheesecakes— created just as you remember them or with a new twist. We also sell them by the slice to enjoy right in the shop with a cup of our tea or coffee. Here are some of the most popular cakes, as Jennifer describes them in her Buttercup Bake Shop Cookbook. CAKES Carrot Cake “Just about the best carrot cake you’ve ever tasted; it is the number one seller at Buttercup, hands down.” Lady Baltimore Cake “This is truly Buttercup’s signature cake. . . as stunning visually as it is decadently delicious.”
