July 6, 2013 Dear Double M Salon supporters, Though Mimi’s passing a few weeks ago has left a gaping hole in our hearts and in the jazz community, her presence is felt and continues. To celebrate her life and the incredible gatherings that were her salons over the last seventeen years (since February 4, 1996!), her family and friends are organizing “Mimi’s Grand Salon.” Following Mimi’s model, it will happen on Sunday afternoon, July 21, from 2 to 5pm, and will take place at the Mayme Clayton Library and Museum in Culver City. Please see the attached flyer for details – you should recognize the format! Please note that this is NOT a public event and should not be advertised to the general public nor by use of any social media, i.e. Facebook. We are following Mimi’s salon format; her gatherings were never public events and not advertised. Invitations are only being sent to those on Mimi’s email list. And if you wish to attend you must RSVP to the email address listed on the next page. The program will include music, offered by a substantial all-star gathering of salon performers, the video showing of Mimi’s feature-length interview as part of the World Stage Stories series, opportunities for you to video-record memories of Mimi, visual displays, and, of course, food will be provided, just as Mimi did.
