A Letter from the Editor

One year older and wiser too! What an amazing adventure this past year has been for the I Do Wedding Network! After a failed searches to find groups and events solely dedicated to the growing SL wedding industry, I decided to create a group that would be dedicated to promoting, marketing, and mentoring other like-minded individuals who are striving to grow their wedding business. IDWN has grown in many ways too. Starting out with five members, we are now standing strong at close to 100. The first expo, held last year, had only 15 participants. This year we stand at 23 and have enough funding for the expo to have its own location as well as have some amazing entertainment that weren’t able to have last year. Our blog will breach 10,000 page views this month with a monthly average of 1800 views. And we have had five successful issues of IDWN Online Magazine which has received a great response.

Creating this group has been a labor of love that continues to be a driving passion for myself. I look forward to finding new ways for our group to grow with not only business members but with potential customers who seek a one-stop solution to their wedding planning chaos. We will continue to have our grid-wide hunts to help bring exposure to our members as well as reopen The Plaza for group sponsored events and for use by group members. We are always looking for members to join our management team. If you are interested in becoming a group manager or working on the magazine please send me a note In-World. We would love to have you. Here’s to another great year! Pac Lorefield, founder of IDWN I dedicate this issue to all the group members and supporters of the I Do Wedding Network - you ROCK!

Ani Charisma joined IDWN during the first I Do Wedding Expo and has been a big supporter every day sense. We sat down with her to find out more about her business and asked for her advice on starting out in Second Life Commerce. IDWN: When did you first launch your SL business? Ani: January 2010. I wanted nice things to wear but couldn’t afford to buy. No one told me about MM Boards & lucky chairs & all the other ways to get nice things for free. So I started making my own clothes. IDWN: What has been your main inspiration for your designs? Ani: I gain inspiration from a lot of places. I do custom orders and hunts which provide their own inspiration. A texture or fabric will sometimes spark an idea. My rl daughter asks me to created designs for her all the time. And I think every designer would tell you their moods play a huge part in their creations. IDWN: What obstacles have you faced while running your business in SL? Ani: The apparel business in sl is really flooded and the cost to advertise is outrageous so for me the biggest obstacles are just trying to get known and build my group up. IDWN: If you could give one piece of advice to another business owner starting out what would it be? Ani: To do what you love. I have seen people start up a business & 6 months later it is HUGE. I have been running my business for 3 years and many wouldn’t classify me as successful.

Ani (cont.): But I love what do. I really couldn’t imagine being in sl if I wasn’t designing. So if you love what you are doing then keep doing it, regardless of what anyone says or does. IDWN: What new things can we look forward to this year from your business? Ani: A LOT! The store was recently redesigned to make room for a larger men’s department, mesh clothes, a line of clothes with Tango Appliers and an expanded wedding line, including veils. I also have a discount section and free gifts for group members put out 2x a month. We want to wish Ani all the best of luck with many more years of success. Thank you for all your support!
