All Set Project Code of Good Practice & Code of Good Conduct

All Set has a Code of Good Practice in place under the following elements: a. Physical Environment b. Physical Contact c. Interpersonal Dealings d. Managing Sensitive Information e. Professional Development Good practice in a physical environment where there is contact with children All Set will endeavour to; • always ensure that someone from the school establishment is present and therefore meeting their responsibility for ensuring the safety of those in the setting • monitor risks throughout the project Good practice in physical contact All Set will endeavour to; • maintain a safe and appropriate contact from participants • only touch participants when it is absolutely necessary in relation to the art form of dance • seek agreement from schools prior to the project explaining the nature of the physical contact • ensure that disabled participants are informed and comfortable with any necessary physical contact Good practice in interpersonal dealings All Set will endeavour to; • treat all participants equally and with respect and dignity • always put welfare of each participant first before achieving goals • build balanced relationships based on mutual respect which empowers young people to share in the decision-­‐making process • give enthusiastic and constructive feedback rather than negative criticism • make the traditional arts fun, enjoyable and promote equality • be an excellent role model for dealings with other people Good practice in managing sensitive information All Set will endeavour to; • ensure that all personnel understand and adhere to the organisation’s Child Protection Policy which is in place • carefully monitor all activities • have agreed procedures for reporting any allegations • ensure confidentiality in order to protect the rights of employees and volunteers Good practice in professional development All Set will endeavour to; • keep up to date records with health and safety in the artistic practice • be informed about legislation and policies for protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults • undertake relevant development and training


All Set has a Code of Good Conduct in place under the following points: 1. All Set has a code of good practice for good behaviour for adults towards children, young people and vulnerable adults 2. All Set has a code of good conduct for the behaviour of children, young people and vulnerable adults towards each other 3. Discriminatory behaviour, violent or degrading behaviour or name calling by adults is actively discouraged and All Set ensure that measures are in place by relevant schools to deal with such incidents 4. There is a specific code of practice relating to aggressive behaviour, both towards children, young people and between them 6. There is a guidance on managing behaviour and on restraint 7. If codes of practice are in place, there are systems for monitoring or regulating them 8. Consuming alcohol, taking drugs or smoking is forbidden 9. There are written standards of personnel behaviour, conduct and language Check points: • Philosophy and Principles All Set is committed to promoting the work of individual artists / facilitators connected to the project. The organisation will support and guide all personnel when necessary. This will be achieved by ongoing contact with personnel and examining regular updates of progress throughout the progress. All Set will support any training necessary to develop the delivery of the project by the artists / facilitators. • Protection of Policies and Procedures The main objective is to introduce young people to a cross cultural experience via the artistic mediums of traditional dance and music. A safe environment is necessary to make this possible hence various policies and procedures must be in place. The All Set Project has an a. Equal Opportunities Policy in place b. an updated Child Protection Policy c. Health and Safety Policy d. an understanding of Schools Policy re disciplinary measures and anti-­‐bullying. • Conduct and Good Practice All Set has a culture of mutual respect between staff, children and others modelling good behaviour. A Code of Good Practice and a Code for Good Conduct is in place. Details noted above. • Staff and Volunteers

The All Set project has all necessary recruiting and vetting of staff in place. prior to the project, details of each All Set personnel involved in the project should be forwarded to each school participating. This should include the artists experience, training and qualifications in relation to the specific project which they will be delivering and performing. A disclosure check must include a PECS / Access N.I. of each personnel.

Partnerships and Public Relations

All publicity address safeguarding the welfare of children, young people or vulnerable adults All Set is known and recognised within the local community through promotional flyers distributed by the schools c. Feedback regarding all aspects of the organisation and its activities is regularly invited from participants and the wider community d. Communication about commitment to a culture of safety between All Set, schools, participants i.e. children, young people or vulnerable adults is open and readily available considering any language or communication difference • Community and Environment a. The organisation is advertised as part of the local community b. All Set has good links with other local groups c. All Set has links with statutory services such as schools, education and library boards and district councils d. The organisation works closely with local community providing opportunities for involvement, feedback and consultation e. All Set ensures that all venues are safe and secure f. All Set ensures that there are family-­‐friendly equipment appropriate to the activities provided g. All Set ensures that are good standards of hygiene and safety for all concerned Further to the above Codes of Good Practice and Good Conduct, The Board of Trustees recommend: • that no All Set artist / facilitator allows themselves to be in sole charge of children, young people or vulnerable adults • prior to the project, All Set personnel establish if any participant is likely to be considered ‘vulnerable’. However, all artists/facilitators should also monitor, as part of the project delivery, whether any of the participants show signs which indicate a particular vulnerability that needs to be accommodated. If in doubt, they should liaise with the teachers present


Risk Assessment and Risk Management Risk Assessment The principle of risk assessment is to consider; • practical detail of each project • things that can go wrong in the project • likelihood of these things going wrong • impact of these things going wrong Once this is completed; • All Set can identify measures to reduce risk • All Set has a procedure in place if things go wrong • All Set has allocated roles to monitor and manage child protection The following Risk Management Plan is in place for the All Set Project Risks Probability Impact Actions to reduce Date Name H/L M/S probability and / Or impact 1. ________________________________________________________________ 2. ________________________________________________________________ 3. Responding to possible abuse and to disclosure, All Set personnel will follow guidelines within the Child Protection Policy in place. The Board of Trustees recommend that All Set personnel consider all risks and involve the project stakeholders concerned as much as possible in risk assessment. It advises that risk assessment and risk management should be undertaken for each project. Early identification of risks reduces the likelihood of the risk becoming a reality.
