Record-breaking year for FDL Automation 2012 was best in company’s history with 2012 numbers. FDL will move into their new, expanded headquarters at the corner of Stolle Avenue and Ross Street in Sidney in late March. The 24,000-square-foot facility will provide more than 25 percent of additional space over the company’s present location on Vandemark Road. Staffing levels are expected to remain the same for 2013; however, the building was designed for employee growth. The building site also includes additional land for future expansion. Features of the new building include an extensive customer center that incorporates a large, state-of-the-art training and education center, au-

tomation lab, and an expansive counter sales and product display showroom. Customer training continues to be an important aspect of the total services offered by FDL, and this new training area will enable the company to expand its open enrollment program with supplier Rockwell Automation. Through this program, customers from not only the FDL sales region, but all across the country, will attend specialized, hands-on training at FDL. The building will incorporate the latest design in energy efficient LED lighting and controls — 70 percent of the office space will feature this technology, using With

one-fourth the amount of energy of traditional fluorescent and incandescent lighting. The warehouse will be arranged for maximum efficiency, and will incorporate the latest in energy saving lighting technologies. “We took the time to evaluate every aspect of our operational flow and facility requirements in an effort to build in as many efficiencies as we could in the new building,” said Rick Brooks, company executive vicepresident. In a continued commitment to the community, FDL contributed extensively to various programs and causes in 2012, including reaching See FDL/Page 28

The year 2012 proved to be the best ever for revenue in FDL Automation & Supply Co.’s 31 years of operation. This surpasses the previous recordbreaking year set in 2011. FDL Automation & Supply is a locally-owned, fullservice electrical distributor serving west central Ohio, selling electrical equipment to the contractor, original equipment manufacturer, and the industrial market. Several factors contributed to FDL’s continued growth, including a substantial increase in business from original equipment manufacturer (OEM) customers. As demand for new equipment tracked upward, sales were pushed to a record high. OEM’s are seeing their customers investing in new machinery and technology, and FDL is able to provide them with some of the most advanced automation products available. Activity also remained steady with industrial clients, who, in many cases were bringing new machinery online as production requirements rose. FDL executives see that momentum continuing in 2013. “FDL poised itself during the economic downturn a few years ago to prepare for the growth we have experienced the past two years,” said Gary Heitmeyer, FDL president. His report continues: Sales figures are expected to remain steady
