Diamond Grinding. Diamond grinding removes a layer of concrete or asphalt from the surface of a roadway. Removing the top layer eliminates irregularities caused by years of traffic or during the construction process of a new roadway. Grinding is an environmentally friendly way to preserve pavement since additional materials, like asphalt, are not needed. Grinding increases the smoothness, skid resistance, safety and reduces road noise. There are different types of diamond grinding applications and within each application, there are different types of diamond blades. In addition to keeping several blade specifications ready, Husqvarna’s expert team can help develop a specification for any grinding application. For more information call 800-845-1312. PAVEMENT PRESERVATION

Conventional diamond grinding. • 230-240 diamond blades are stacked together with .105" or .120" wide spacers between the blades on a grinding head.

• Produces a corduroy finish with ridges and valleys. • “Fins” are produced but tend to break off immediately with traffic flow.

Next Generation Concrete Surface (NGCS). • A hybrid texture that combines conventional grinding with longitudinal groove channels.

• 380 blades with .030"-.035" wide spacers are stacked on a grinding head. • Results in a further reduction of road noise, a smoother ride and increased drainage resulting in better skid resistance and a safer roadway. • Eliminates “fins”.

Next Generation Concrete Surface Lite (NGCS Lite). • Husqvarna’s pioneered texture, NGCS Lite is a micro texture that improves surface traction without raising noise levels. It was created to add additional texture to the land area (ridges) of a NGSC grinding application. • The blade’s segment is .250" wide, wider than a normal grinding blade. This means fewer blades and spacers are used. • 186 blades and spacers.

Optimal Texture for City Streets (OTCS). • OTCS is the residential version of NGCS Lite. It was developed for roadways with 45mph and under speed limit.

• OTCS does not place deeper grooves in the roadway and reduces the land height and width of the grind. This results in a smooth, consistent texture with few unwanted “fins”. • Perfect for bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards and motorcycles because the surface is smoother for smaller tires and if an accident occurs, injuries may not be as severe.
