t’s that time of year. Big-box stores and other national chains bombard you with commercials. All over the country—whether it’s Providence or Pasadena—promotions for the same gifts and gismos clog the airwaves. Want something different? Walk down the street. All over Hudson County, local shopping districts offer unique items, deep discounts, free services, and a high caliber of personal service.

Whether they’re in Bayonne, Jersey City, Hoboken, North Bergen, Secaucus, Union City, Weehawken, or West New York, independent retailers and mom-and-pop stores know what their customers want because they have a shared life experience. As friends and neighbors, they join the same clubs, attend the same religious institutions, and their kids go to the same schools. These local outlets include gourmet food and liquor stores, coffee shops, music stores, gift

Gypsy Grill Downtown Jersey City is a Mecca for delicious food, and Gypsy Grill offers some of the best Middle Eastern food around. Fresh, natural ingredients are the start to a satisfying meal. Egyptian cuisine dates back to the time of the pharaohs. Pyramid builders survived on a diet of onions, garlic, coarse bread, and beer. Beer is now mostly out of the picture, but those basic ingredients, supplemented by tomatoes, okra, eggplant, favas, lentils, pasta, and rice still form the foundation of hearty Egyptian food. 187 Newark Avenue, Jersey City 201.839.5115 gypsygrillny.com
