GOBY NIPPER

Materials: Hook – Tiemco 411s #4 (Larva Bend) Thread – GSP Weight – (1) Medium hourglass Eye Gills – Hot Orange Fluoro Fiber Belly – White EP 3D Fibers Back– Sand EP 3D Fibers Eyes– Stick on 3/16 3D Eyes Flash– Pearl Krinkle Mirror Flash Paint – Light Brown / Sand paint

STEP 1

Secure the hourglass Eye to the hook shank at the bend, finish the thread off with a little Zap A Gap, then paint the entire hook and eye assembly with a light brown, or sand colored paint. I like to use a paint pen for this kind of work, but regular paint and a brush would work also. Allow the hook and eyes to dry completely.

STEP 2

Secure a small clump of Fluoro Fiber to the hook shank and trim as shown.

STEP 3

Tie on a small bunch of the white EP Fibers. Tie these fibers on at their center point - lash around rear portion to “stand the fibers up, then fold the forward bunch back and wrap in front of the clump to secure. Do this with (2) clumps of fibers. Note: Take what you think you would use for a single clump and then take half of that!

STEP 4

Tie in a very sparse bunch of the flash material.

STEP 5

Finish the fly off with (2) more clumps of the sand colored EP Fibers, tie these in the same as in step 3. Whip finish the thread and secure it with a little Zap A Gap.

STEP 6

Now grasp the fibers together and trim them to shape with scissors. Take very little “nips with the tips of your scissors until the shape starts forming. Do not try and cut the entire profile with one cut, that almost never works! Just keep snipping away until the shape starts to form.

STEP 7

Secure the eyes on with a little Zap A Gap, add some barring with a brown or orange permanent marker and your done..

STEP 8

When fished this fly will ride hook point up, and the EP Fibers act as a form of weed guard.
