The Strategic Medical Director The role of the medical director is evolving into an increasingly pivotal position. This programme has been designed to support and challenge medical directors to enhance their leadership skills and extend their knowledge in key areas such as governance, the quality agenda and professional leadership. This enables them to integrate their clinical presence at board level with all their other activities, from patient safety to strategy. The Strategic Medical Director leadership programme Hear from delegates as they discuss the impact our Strategic Medical Director leadership development programme has made on their own leadership and management skills. Medical Leadership: from the dark side to centre stage Chris Ham, and John Clark, who has recently joined the Fund from the NHS Institute, are co-authors with Peter Spurgeon of the University of Warwick of a new book on medical leadership. A Review of Leadership in the NHS This year's leadership review will examine the concept of leadership for engagement in health care, promoting engagement within teams, organisations and across the system to drive improvement.
