AGE-FRIENDLY FREMONT 02.01 | P.11

MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM SERVING FREMONT NEEDS VOLUNTEERS! SOS Meals on Wheels, the provider of home-delivered senior nutrition in Fremont needs more volunteers to keep up with the demand for service. The work is rewarding, fun, and flexible, and meets a pressing need in our community of providing homebound seniors with a nutritious meal and wellness check.

Each day, volunteers meet at the rear parking lot of the Fremont Hall of Justice where pre-packed coolers with chilled meals are distributed by route. The average route has 10-15 stops, and takes an average of 1-2 hours, with a delivery time of 10:30am-12:30pm. Routes can be driven at a frequency of your availability, such as once per week, month, or when otherwise available. Are you ready to join an amazing community of volunteers? Contact John Schinkel-Kludjian at 510-244-0165 or via email at John@sosmow.org.

THANK YOU INDO-AMERICAN SENIORS ASSOCIATION FREMONT (INSAF)! The Human Services Department would like to thank the INSAF group for their kind and generous donations of beanies to Fremont unsheltered adults 55+. Ms. Vasantbala Sheth, Ms. Susheela Desai, and Ms. Hemlata Nanavati, members of INSAF worked hard to produce hand-made beanies. Thank you to our “Super Seniors” for their support of the unsheltered community.
