O’Connor Knights In Reach of Title, Canberra Croatia Relegate Wanderers

O’ConnorKnights recovered from a one-nil de�icit to get to within touching distance of the league title following a 2-1 win over Monaro Panthers at the Riverside Stadium in the evening kick-off. The Knights require one point to wrap up the League Championship, although they may not even need that considering their goal difference is so much better than Gungahlin United, the only team who can mathematically stop them. Jenno Ceruti gave the Panthers the lead with a calmly taken goal, but they remain �ive points off fourth place with three games remaining and were left to bemoan a missed penalty, the usual un�lappable Roko Strika blasting over the bar from the spot in the second-half. Panthers levelled the scores when Micheal Adams reacted fastest to prod home from close range and won it when Lachlan Fields rampaged up the centre of the park, swapped passes, and thrashed home an unerring �inish past Joran Thurtell, who had earlier created the Panthers goal with a long-range clearance.

West Canberra Wande- rers relegation to the second tier was con�irmed last the Sunday afternoon at Deakin Stadium as Canberra Croatia withstood a spirited showing from the Woden side to claim an important 5-2 victory, spearheaded by a hat-trick from striker Stephen Domenici.

Domenici opened the scoring with a magni�icently placed curling shot just before the midway point of the opening half, only for Patrick Shore to respond within two minutes to bring the scores level. An own goal from Christopher John restored Croatia’s lead, but incredibly Shore levelled again almost immediately. A penalty, awarded for handball and summarily despatched by Domenici gave Croatia a half-time lead and, from that point on, Wanderers stay in the division appeared doomed. Wanderers attempted a riposte but were �inally put to the sword by a superbly taken fourth from substitute Atiya Waraga. There was still time for the coup de grace, Domenici acrobatically volleying in a wicked in swinging delivery from Daniel Sparrow to complete his treble and con�irm Wanderers demotion. This Saturday August 19th Canberra Croatia are home where they will host Monaro Panthers. Kick-off is scheduled for 17:30. Svetom krunicom i procesijom u kojoj se nosio okrunjeni kip

Blažene Djevice Marije započelo je, 15. kolovoza, misno slavlje u čast Velike Gospe u crkvi sv. Nikole Tavelića u Clifton Hillu.

Marijanskim pjesmama, crkveni zbor i mnoštvo vjernika ispovijedali su svoju vjeru u trojedinoga Boga na blagdan Uznesenja Blažene Djevice

Marije na nebo zahvaljujući Bogu koji nam je dao tako divnu majku.

S mislima na sva ona hodočašća koja će se na ovaj dan dogoditi u domovini, Hrvatskoj i Bosni i Hercegovini, brojni župljani i prijatelji ove župe iznosili su svojoj nebeskoj Majci svoje brige, poteškoće i patnje koje su ih u životu snašle, uvjereni kako će im ona izmoliti pomoć od Boga.

Iz evanđelja po sv. Luki (Lk 1, 3956) možemo izdvojiti Blagovijest (Marijino Navještenje) kada ona pohodi svoju trudnu rođakinju Elizabetu, koju je Bog u dubokoj starosti blagoslovio potomkom i ostala je s njom tri mjeseca, sve do rođenja Ivana Krstitelja.

Cijeli susret bio je prožet radošću Duha Svetoga, posebno kada Elizabeta sva sretna izjavljuje: "Blagoslovljena ti među ženama i blagoslovljen plod utrobe tvoje" (Lk 1,42).

Taj Elizabetin pozdrav postao je sastavni dio molitve Zdravo Marijo. Upravo ovakav odnos, odnos mlađih i starijih osoba usporedio je i vlč. Bosiljko Rajić u svojoj propovijedi podsjećajući na nedavno održani Svjetski dan mladih održan u Lisabonu; na svakodnevni odnos mlađeg i starijeg naraštaja u kojem treba biti poštovanja, razumijevanja i sklada.

Nakon misnog slavlja priređen je ručak u crkvenoj dvorani. Okupljeni su uživali uz tradicionalna jela i kolače koje su donirale vrijedne domaćice, te nagradnu tombolu. Tako je zaključeno slavlje posvećeno Blaženoj Djevici Mariji.
