Recognising the region’s best HR solution providers

I

n its sixth year running, the HRM Asia Readers’ Choice Awards is widely seen by the HR industry as a highly respected and coveted platform to honour the best and brightest HR solution providers in Asia Pacific. And 2020 proves to be the most exciting year yet for the annual awards, with 31 winners being recognised across 19 diverse categories for their commitment and innovations which have empowered organisations to navigate this new and ever-changing world of work. Unlike previous editions, this year’s HRM Asia’s Readers Choice Awards was presented virtually at the HR Tech Festival Asia Online 2020 from September 29 to October 1, which was the region’s largest online HR gathering of over 5,000 industry professionals and leaders. While delivered virtually, the awards were more hotly contested than ever by an impressive and competitive line-up of contenders. The winners for each category were decided by HRM Asia Magazine readers (70% weightage) via an online voting and a panel of independent expert judges (30%). Votes were casted over a two-week period and they were supplemented by the expert assessments from the judges who studied the contenders’ case studies, research, and their own experiences. And with many of the categories being closely fought based on the online votes and judging, it is only fitting for us to recognise two winners for 12 of those categories. HRM Asia congratulates all the worthy winners for their unwavering commitment in providing world class solutions to help bring the HR industry in the region to the next level.

T

he COVID-19 pandemic has been a catalyst for unprecedented transformation in the workplace, prompting leaders to change their values and values systems – and redefining what it means to be a leader, suggested Deepali Jain, Managing Director, Singapore, Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH). He said, “Now more than ever, leadership is not a title. It’s a behaviour. The shortage of quality leaders who step up to guide organisations into the future is arguably the biggest talent issue companies face today.” According to LHH’s global research, 72% of organisations agree that leadership accountability is a critical business issue, yet only 31% are satisfied with the levels in their own workplace. Leaders today thus, need new capabilities and a new way of thinking to succeed. Jain explained, “You can find a whole range of skills and characteristics that might describe the truly decent leader. At LHH, we focus on seven core ideas: accountability, civility, compassion, empathy, honesty, humility and principle.” And it is this winning mindset that allowed LHH to be voted joint-Gold Winner in the Readers’ Choice Awards 2020 in the Best Corporate Leadership Development Provider category. Jain continued, “As leaders, our job is to create hope where it may be lacking and transfer our strength and wisdom to those people who may be feeling weak or depleted. “It’s why I’m so proud that LHH has been recognised for the work we do with our clients in developing great leaders and we are delighted to see HRM Asia readers continuing to trust our services, making this award win possible. Thank you to all who voted for LHH.” Also awarded the Gold Award in the category is the Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS), who remains dedicated in providing consistent, up-to-date and best practices in workplace learning. mployer of Record (EOR) services are growing increasingly important for global business, enabling companies to hire the best talent anywhere in the world without the complexity of setting up foreign branch offices or subsidiaries. Companies are able to bypass over the legal, HR and tax complexities without having to figure out for themselves “how” to do business in a foreign country, while getting all the benefits of a global team. Introduced as a new category at Readers’ Choice Awards 2020, the Best Employer of Record Service Provider saw Globalization Partners deservedly walk away with the Gold Award. Charles Ferguson, General Manager, Asia Pacific, Globalization Partners, said, “This is indeed a golden moment for us. It warms our hearts to be recognised and selected by our customers, industry partners, friends, and readers of HRM Asia. On behalf of the team, I would like to thank all those who supported Globalization Partners and gave their vote of confidence. “Amidst these challenging times, we must all celebrate successes, big and small. Trust that we will be celebrating this Best EOR Service Provider recognition in a big way by continuously innovating and forming meaningful partnerships to help businesses succeed as they expand in the APAC region and beyond.” Earlier this year, Globalization Partners was also recognised by NelsonHall as an industry leader in EOR in 2020. The company, said NelsonHall, has demonstrated strengths in expertise, technology and delivery model in an industry that is expected to reach US$1.1 billion growth by 2024. And as companies increasingly look to employ talent internationally in support of global expansion activities, deploying an EOR has bever been more relevant, as Ferguson explained, “The pandemic has resulted in companies redefining their strategy to find opportunities in new markets. In addition, with remote working becoming the norm, businesses are able to easily and compliantly hire the highly skilled talent they need even if
