GENERAL MANAGER

Happy New Year!

What a great way to end 2022! One of my favorite memories from the entire year happened recently. This year, HRCA chose to be a collection site for Toys-for-Tots. On average, Toys-for-Tots distributes 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children each year. Watching the community come together and donate to such a fantastic cause reminded me of just how much I love this fabulous community. Thank you to everyone who contributed and helped make an impact in children's lives.

HRCA hopes the New Year is healthy and prosperous for all, and we are excited to share in the upcoming year with you. Below is an overview of some fun things happening in 2023 and a few reminders:

Events and Activities: The New Year always brings many visitors to our recreation centers. In 2022, HRCA successfully hosted over 90 events, and we look forward to hitting this milestone again in 2023. Programs are gearing up for an increase in registrants, so make sure you get registered early and plan to participate in all the programs you have your eye on.

Continued Improvements: With the completion of Phase One of the Eastridge Renovation in the fall of 2022, our excitement is building to begin and complete Phase Two of the renovation. Phase Two will focus on the locker rooms.

Programs: HRCA offers over 800 classes throughout the year. Our Preschool, Backcountry, Sports and Fitness, Aquatics, and Race Series ended on a solid note, with most programs remaining throughout the year. As we enter the New Year, it will be wonderful to see them flourish again.

Payment Reminder: Please pay your first quarter assessment dues by January 1, 2023. HRCA quarterly dues will increase from $155.72 to $165.00 beginning this billing period.

Volunteer Opportunities: If you are looking for ways to get involved in your community through volunteerism, HRCA has opportunities available! The Delegates will elect two Board Members on Tuesday, March 21, to serve on the five-member Board. Delegate positions will also be open. Eighty delegates currently represent the different subdivisions throughout Highlands Ranch. Delegates attend a monthly meeting to be informed about community issues and vote on various governing documents. The homeowners in each subdivision elect delegates. More information about volunteer opportunities and the election process are available on our website at HRCAonline.org/leadership.

HRCA is Hiring: We're always looking for excellent people to join our team. If you love sports, recreation, and a healthy lifestyle, you could make it your work, too!

Head to our website at HRCAonline.org/employment to find a list of open positions and apply today.

The 2023 budget for Highlands Ranch Community Association, Inc. (HRCA) is the financial and operational document that identifies expenditures and the revenues avaible to fund them. The budget represents the policies and priorities set by the Board of Directors.

LET IT SNOW!

Curious what the rules are for snow removal in Highlands Ranch?

Residents: The timeline for removal is within 24-hours after the snow stops. Responsibilities include, sidewalks in front of and along the sides of a home, adjacent mailboxes, and fire hydrants where present.

Douglas County: Major arterial roads, collector roads, residential streets & cul-de-sacs. Priorities for removal of snow by the county are in the same order.

Highlands Ranch Metro District: The timeline is if three or more inches of snow has accumulated and it is likely to remain on the ground for more than 24 hours. Responsibilities include hard surface trails, sidewalks along arterial roads, fire stations and Metro District buildings.

To report a problem, please contact the Douglas County Public Works Department at 303-660-7480 or www.douglas.co.us/road-work/snowand-ice-removal/.

In order to maintain the current level of services and the recreation center facilities, recreation assesments are increasing $9.28 quarterly to a total quarterly assessment of $165.00. Administration assesments are remaining flat.

Snowplow Safety: In 2019, the Governor signed into law a penalty increase for drivers that pass an operation snowplow in “echelon formation’ (with two or more snowplows arranged diagonally) and is considered a Class A traffic offense which is punishable by a fine of up to $100.

Snow and ice that comes off the plow blade can damage your vehicle or greatly obstruct your vision.

Do not drive in a plow operator’s blind spot, and never pass a snowplow that is engaged in snow removal.

Lights out! The presents have been opened, the tree put away and the New Year celebrated. The holidays are over and as a reminder, all decorations, including decoration holders (light clips) need to be down by the end of the month.
