Snack of the Year I love these so much, “ I'm giving away free boxes. Rebecca Walton Editor of Houston Profile Magazine

“I’m on the go all the time. Without fail, I keep bars of these stuffed in my purse because I never know when I’m going to be hit with a craving for something sweet and chewy. These simply fit chewy snack bars please my taste-buds each and every time I bite down into the chocolate-ty whole grain granola mix. My mouth waters just thinking about it. Best of all they are healthy and organic addition to my daily calorie count.” – Rebecca Walton

Fall 2015 As a magazine for the people, Houston PROFILE Magazine is campaigning for three underlining elements of humanity. HPM is the human interest perspective of business. Most would agree that capital and partnership is the driving force behind commerce, but we at HPM say it is eating, living and loving. As we chronicle the business dealings of non-profits, real estate and people of Houston TX, we like to celebrate the epitome of Eat, Live, Love seen within their self and their respective businesses. Join the conversation with us and shout out the business or person you know who epitomizes one or all three elements. This Fall season the element of Live is heard very loudly from one, Charles Sapp. Take a moment and read about how he lives in business.

LIVE Charles Sapp: A Man Seeking Balance

A

man seeking balance is a man like Charles Sapp. That maybe a bit poetic and “...okay.” but, have you tried to encompass the true principle of a person apart from spoken word? Well, consider yourself deep and call Charles Sapp, “Typified life.” Two snaps. Because like everyone, he’s living it. Unlike most it’s on his own terms. He talks on a 10 year old flip phone and rarely logs on to social media. Charles subscribes to very few vices of men. He’s been around the block more times that many, yet he sees things as fresh as a first grader on the first day of school.

(as he would say); all the while striving to maintain balance. From playing division one college ball, to building a successful fitness and personal training business, to organizing Fit Beat, a 501© organization that focuses on children, dancing and being a positive role model. Some may wonder, why the focus on children? Charles took a cue from Frederick Douglas and ran with it. He quotes, “It’s easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” It seems as though Charles is in tune with the reality of his world. He understands his own frailty and others’ like his, which is why he is constantly seeking balance. Yet it is inconsequential. In spite of what he can’t do he chooses to focus on building a stronger generation that may one day achieve a balance unlike which he will most likely not get to experience. What a man of honor!

He’s a personified casual encounter; pleasant to the experience. He smiles at everyone whether in passing at the park, or within a polite interruption of a conversation. He’s very kind; and it is through this kindness he lives. In service to children he teaches them how to dance. To the rest of us he’s busy mapping out exercise plans. The way he thinks is much like the way he dances. Charles explains things with He’s a typified visual artist living everyday whimsical ease. Much to your surprise free and unplugged – one of a kind. Not you are charmed by his practical acro-permany are privileged to live out their artis- spective. Like a nice stretch before a deep tic vision through charity and business. In breath, you feel real good after speaking his young life he’s managed to transition with Charles. When he makes plain his successfully from one mission to the next resolve you say, “I knew that, but I like the

way you spin it.” His viewpoint is fresh –(to def) with a universal wisdom and practicality that is often overlooked by his generation of adults. It’s a wonder why this kind of knowledge rests in the comfort zone of children. Charles says, “Young people see me and they think I’m much younger than I am. So they listen to me. A young person will think along the lines of, “This old person’s ideals don’t match my reality.” They don’t know how much they don’t know. Little kids don’t even know the A-B-C song like we knew it. There is so much to teach them.” What does the future hold for this single black man with no children of his own? Whatever it may be, one things for sure, it’s him. Charles has plateau-ed into a life of service, insight and love; which allows a very wide net to be cast. Anything is possible for this break-dancing poetic lover of health and children. His legacy is being built one day at a time “positively affecting generations to come, even though they won’t know [his] name.”— Charles Sapp. To learn more about how you can help build Fit Beat email Charles at csapp41@hotmail.com.
