REPUBLICANS RULE THE LONE STAR STATE

On Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 you must choose to vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary. In Texas, if you’re a registered voter, may vote in either primary; however, you may only vote in one during this election cycle. Keep in mind that you can’t vote straight tickets in your party primary, so, it is important that you learn a little about the candidates before Election Day to ensure that your party is putting forth the best slate of candidates for the 2012 Presidential Election to be held on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012. If you choose to vote in one party’s primary, you will not be able to vote in the other party’s run-off election during that same year. However, if you chose to not vote in either the Democratic or Republican primary you may vote in either primary runoff election this year.

exas is widely considered the strongest Republican state in the United States — there’s no question about that. Texans have entrusted Republican leaders with the stewardship of every statewide elected office in the state and majorities in the Texas state senate, Texas state house IMPORTANT DATES and on the Texas board of AND DEADLINES education as well. Traditionally, political party primary elections are held in March of even numbered years. But the 2012 Democratic and Republican primaries are being held on Tuesday, May 29th, 2012 this year.

A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT GOV. MITT ROMNEY

Mitt Romney is the front-runner in the race to claim the Republican nomination in the race for President of the United States. Romney was born in Detroit on March 12, 1947. His mother, Lenore, gave up an acting career when she met and married his father. Romney married his wife, Ann, in 1969. They first met in elementary school when he was a Cub Scout; he remembers tossing pebbles at her when she rode by on a horse. When they met again years later at a friend’s house, he was smitten. Between them, they have five sons and sixteen grandchildren, who are the center of their lives. Like any family, the Romneys have faced hardship: Ann was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998, and more recently fought a battle with breast cancer. She credits her husband’s unwavering care and devotion to her for helping her through these ordeals. Romney has spent most of his life in the private sector, giving him intimate knowledge of how our economy works. But he has also been an outstanding public servant. In one chapter of his distinguished career, he reversed the decline of a state mired in recession. In another chapter, he salvaged the 2002 Winter Olympic Games from certain disaster. When Romney was elected Governor of Massachusetts in 2002, the state was in severe disarray, its budget was out of balance, spending was soaring, and taxpayers were being required to pay more and more in taxes for diminishing services. The state economy was in a tailspin, with businesses cutting back on investment or even closing and unemployment ticking up. Mitt made hard decisions that brought state spending under control. He restructured and consolidated government programs, paring back where necessary and finding efficiencies throughout.

Facing a state legislature dominated by Democrats, Romney cast more than 800 vetoes as he brought conservative principles to state government. He cut red tape for small businesses, signed into law job-creating incentives, and fought hard to bring new businesses to the state. He eliminated a $3 billion deficit without borrowing or raising taxes. By 2007, at the end of Romney’s term, the state had accumulated a $2 billion rainy day fund in its coffers. This stringent fiscal discipline provided an essential backdrop for economic recovery. When Romney came into office, the state was losing jobs every month. When he left office, the economy was generating new jobs by the thousands according to information posted on his website. United States Senate 2012 Republican Primary Tom Leppert

“My Official Conservative Thank You Tour”

MESSAGE TO CONSERVATIVE VOTERS

his year Obama sadly went on a worldwide apology tour on behalf of this country. Since the President and I are polar opposites I embarked on my campaign for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Place 1 as the official Conservative Thank You Tour. The reason I started this campaign is to put conservative values back on the bench in my community; and at the same time lift the spirits of a segment of our great country that is always under attack… Conservatives. The following letter is to all of you who fight every day to uphold the values that make this country great; and although you have been beaten down with inflammatory words like racist, sexist, greedy, etc., please know that it is your fight that helped me escape the chains of poverty and put me on a path to salvation.

Dear Conservative:

You may not know me personally; but I am one of the millions of people in this country that you helped escape poverty through your prayer, sacrifice, and refusal to give into the godless, victimization attitudes that are gaining a foothold in this country. See, fellow Conservative, I was born in the inner-city to a father who decided that he wanted nothing to do with raising a child. My mother Pearl immediately took control of the household and worked her way out of poverty. She never made excuses or blamed the government, corporations, race, or her sex on our position in life. In fact, she did the opposite, she taught me the importance of prayer, self-accountability and hard work to conquer poverty. This was my introduction to the conservative

values that would shape the rest of my life. Even when I went to fight for my country in Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Operation Provide Comfort, you welcomed me home like I was some kind of hero. I never told you, but I did not feel like a hero, I felt like I was doing something to pay my country back for all that has been done for me. It has been over two decades since I put on my battle green uniform; and yet, when I walk amongst you I always smile as you thank me for serving; and feel proud to have served my country. After the military I became a lawyer and I am now a candidate for Judge; and you are right next to me fighting to return the bench to the values that we share. You do not look at me different because of my background. You treat me no different than the man who grew up with more finances than my mom ever dreamed of having. You give me strength by reminding me that in this country everyone has the opportunity to do great things; I need this reminder as the media and some on the left try to make victims of us so that we may cower under their protection. Another thing that I love is your willingness to hold career politicians to the values that they claim to have. One example of this was on March 28, 2012, when my opponent was admonished by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct for the following violations: Judge J. Kent Adams: failed to comply with the law and demonstrated a lack of professional competence Judge J. Kent Adams was sighted as: Demonstrating a lack of patience, dignity and courtesy expected of a judge Judge J. Kent Adams created a perception of bias and prejudice

Judge J. Kent Adams acted in a manner that does not promote public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary

The media went to great lengths to focus on racial remarks made by him; but you focused on the other complaints also that were much more troubling. Instead of circling the wagons, you showed as

a true Conservative that you refuse to stand by a Judge who could not follow his oath even if he carried the same party designation. We both understand that you recognize a Conservative by actions and deeds, not by incumbency and endorsements. I look forward to election day when I hope to be elected Justice of the Peace and take another step towards contributing to the community that has given so much to me. My fellow Republican I hope that you embrace my journey as a Conservative because it is because of you that I am who I am today, so please accept this heartfelt thanks and never stop fighting!

KEVIN FULTON Kevin Fulton is a shining example of the American Dream. Pearl never blamed her race or society for her position in life, instead she taught him the importance of prayer, self-accountability and hard work to conquer poverty. This was Kevin’s first introduction to the conservative values that would shape the rest of his life. Eventually Pearl married a State Trooper who taught Kevin the importance of following the law and to appreciate the sacrifice that our law enforcement officers make on a daily basis.

PROTECTING TEXANS

PROTECTING TEXAS EN

GREG PA A Few Words About Me

REP F0R RAILRO

My story is only possible here in America. I was born in an inner city and raised by a dedicated single mother to understand the meaning of love and strength through family. I was taught the value of hard work, of getting an education and the honor of serving my country. As a U.S. Army veteran, I understand the cost exacted on those who serve and their families. I know the pain and the uncertainty our veterans and their families endure. It is their love of country, their unending pursuit of freedom, and their selfless sacrifices that continue to inspire me. I am honored to call them my brothers- and sisters-in-arms. My story is not a rags to riches story, but it is a story that proudly wears the label "Made in America." As a father, I am concerned about the future I am forging for my son and for his children after him. My passion concerning energy in Texas comes from the principles that drove my mother. She wanted to leave something better for her children, a future that was brighter, a future filled with promise and exciting possibilities. My goal is to work hard to ensure that my son and his children, as well as YOUR children, are left with something better in a world that is driven and defined by the principle of paying it forward. We can do this together. We can deliver on the promises made to us by our parents by committing to an even higher standard in creating a better future for the coming generations.

I’m Ready To Serve

After several years as a technology professional, I was elected to the Comal County Commissioners Court on November 2, 2004 and again in November 2008. I was the first African American and the youngest person to win election as a county commissioner in Comal County. I have tirelessly worked to protect our tax dollars by exposing financial mismanagement in local agencies. I have a proven record of working alongside my colleagues to keep Comal County's tax policy fair, and I am proud that our rate is one of the lowest in the state. I have worked to offer new educational benefits for county employees and to preserve land for future generations and to protect private property rights. I have spoken out frequently on a variety of national issues including: eminent domain, DC Opportunity Scholarship Program, transportation, and cap-n-trade, to name a few. In 2008 Governor Rick Perry appointed me to the State Commission on Emergency Communications. In this position I travel across the state, speaking and leading the states initiative for Next Generation 911. Since taking office, I have fought tirelessly to protect children from abuse and violence, not only in my county, but in others as well. I was proud to initiate the annual "Guardian Angel Award" which honors volunteers, non-profit agency partners, as well as law enforcement and child protective services workers who assist in preventing child abuse and neglect and who work to strengthen families.

I’m The Best Candidate

I supported our county's clean fleet strategy and electricity reduction pilot plans. As a result of our commissioners court efforts, electricity usage is down by 11% in some of our buildings. I have worked diligently to assure that we remain competitive when it comes to energy, but at the same time I recognize the importance of conservation. Our efforts in conservation were rewarded when the "State Energy Conservation Office" recognized Comal County in 2005, 2006 and then again in 2009. Energy is a passion of mine, and I have authored many articles on a variety of energy subjects, some of which are featured on this website. In 2010 I authored the book "Global Warming…Really?" which was picked as the "book of the week" by the Conservative Monitor. I am a member of the International Association for Energy Economics, the United States Association for Energy Economics, the American Society for Public Administration, Section on Environmental and Natural Resource Administration and the Texas Oil & Gas Association. I am also an adjunct professor of government at Concordia University.

I’m Asking For Your Vote

I hold a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Columbia Southern University, a Masters of Public Administration from Walden University, and I am currently all but dissertation on my Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Walden University. My dissertation research is on "The Correlation between Urban Natural Gas Exploration and Economic Growth In the Texas Barnet Shale Play" I have also completed open courseware from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Energy Economics, Econometrics, Public Economics, Environmental Economics and Government Responses to Market Failure, Climate Change: Economics, Science, and Policy, Sustainable Energy. In 2009 I was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha, National Honors Society for Public Administration.

Big Lead With Women Gives Obama An Edge On Romney, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Christie, Rubio, Ryan Top GOP Running Mate List

President Barack Obama holds a thin 46 - 42 percent lead over former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released resently. New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Wisconsin U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan lead the guess list for possible Romney running mates. Looking at personal characteristics, 81 percent of American voters think the president is likable, compared to 63 percent for Romney. Obama cares about their needs and problems, 57 percent say, compared to 44 percent for Romney. The Republican has strong leadership qualities, 61 percent say, compared to 60 percent for the president, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll of 2,577 American voters finds. Romney is seen as better on the economy 47 - 43 percent, better on creating jobs 45 - 42 percent, better on gas prices 44 - 31 percent and better on immigration 43 - 39 percent. The president is viewed 52 - 32 percent as better on women’s issues and 46 40 percent on foreign policy. The two men are seen equally on taxes and health care. “The presidential race remains tight. With Gov. Mitt Romney now the de facto Republican nominee, a look at how the two men are perceived by the electorate reflects much of the historic differences between the two parties in close elections, which this seems likely to be,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. “President Barack Obama has a big lead among women and is seen as the candidate most in tune with their needs. He is seen as more in touch with average Americans. Republican Romney seems to hold an edge on the economy - the top issue of the campaign

- and holds his own against the incumbent on being a strong leader. His opening is that by 56 - 38 percent voters disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy.” “The gender gap remains, with Obama leading among women 49 - 39 percent and trailing slightly among men 46 - 43 percent,” said Brown. “The racial gap is even wider: Romney leads 52 - 36 percent among whites, while the president is ahead among blacks 94 - 3 percent and among Hispanics 64 - 24 percent.” Obama leads among Democrats 88 - 6 percent, while Romney leads 83 - 8 percent among Republicans and 46 - 39 percent among independent voters. More voters have an unfavorable opinion of the president, 49 percent, compared to the 45 percent who view him favorably. Romney is viewed favorably by 33 percent and unfavorably by 38 percent. First Lady Michelle Obama gets a 60 22 percent favorability rating. Ann Romney gets a 25 - 9 percent favorability with 64 percent who don’t know enough about her to form an opinion. Obama gets split 47 - 48 percent overall job approval and American voters say 49 46 percent that he does not deserve a second term in the Oval Office. Asked about potential Romney running mates, Christie, by far the best known of the potential picks, runs best with 31 percent calling him a good choice compared to 18 percent saying he would be a bad choice and 49 percent with no opinion yet. Independent voters, the key voting bloc, see Christie as a good choice 33 - 18 percent. Rubio was labeled a good choice 24 14 percent overall and 27 - 14 percent among independents, while Ryan has similar numbers, 23 - 17 percent good choice overall and 25 - 17 percent among independents. For other possible running mates, the “no opinion” count is 64 percent or higher. “Even Gov. Christopher Christie evokes a ‘no opinion’ from half the electorate, with Ryan and Rubio even more so. Other potential running mates who did not rate as highly as the three leaders are quite unknown. At this point Christie, who recently said he would not rule out running with Romney, has an edge with the public, but the vice presidency goes to the winner of an election with

one voter - Mitt Romney,” said Brown. From April 11 - 17, Quinnipiac University surveyed 2,577 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 1.9 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones. The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Virginia and the nation as a public service and for research. When elected, I will reestablish integrity to the office and restore employee morale. Mismanagement, wastefulness and wrongdoings no longer will be tolerated. We will move forward to make Precinct 1 a better and safer place to live and to work. I will use my professional experience, education and leadership qualities to ensure an in depth full departmental evaluation. I will restructure the department using current and new deputies and administrators. We will seek input from Precinct 1 citizens, businesses, schools and religious organizations to excel in professionalism and service. Together, with a little hard work, we will provide Precinct 1 top quality police service regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, handicap, familial status or national origin. I will expand current divisions, as well as create new ones that focus on victims’ rights and family violence, proactive real-time patrol and DWI enforcement, environmental issues and animal cruelty.

ABOUT JAIME TELLEZ, JR.

Jaime Tellez, Jr., has lived in Precinct 1 for 37 years. His family first resided in the Montrose/West Gray area before moving to the Aldine area where he attended elementary and middle school and graduated Cum Laude from MacArthur High School in 1990. He currently resides in Lindale Park. In 1993, Tellez graduated from the University of Houston-Downtown Law Enforcement Academy. Since then, Jaime has worked for the Offices of Harris County Constable Precinct 6 and Precinct 4, as well as the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. During his law

enforcement career, he was assigned to the Contract/District Patrol, DWI and Traffic Enforcement Task Forces, Parole Violator Task Force, Civil Process, Truancy/School Security and Jail divisions. In 2002, Tellez earned a Master Peace Officer License from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education. Tellez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Spanish from Sam Houston State University in 1996. In 2005, he earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Michigan State University College of Law. While attending law school, he interned at the Michigan Secretary of State and Catholic

I realize keeping within the budget is a great concern. Therefore, we will use all available resources, including existing full-time and reserve deputies, other agencies, state and federal grants and technology. I will educate and train deputies and supervisors in diverse areas of law enforcement to reduce waste, improve service, and utilize effective and efficient deployment of those resources. Because I live and work in Precinct 1, I also want safer neighborhoods, schools and parks. As a business owner, I want my employees and clients to feel safe. I want help to be there when we need it. I want professional and knowledgeable officers. Finally, like you, I want improved quality of life and safer communities. Let’s move forward together to accomplish these goals. In the next couple of months, you will hear the word integrity used quite often. It is a term not to be applied loosely and is a core characteristic that should apply to all candidates, as well as the elected constable. I ask that you do your research and then vote for the candidate with qualities you seek and admire and who will run this office effectively and efficiently. I look forward to serving you as your next Constable of Precinct 1. Thank you for taking the time to read my Web site.

Jaime Tellez, Jr.

A MESSAGE FROM JUDGE STEVEN KIRKLAND FOR DEMOCRATIC VOTERS I’M QUALIFIED

“I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Rice University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston’s Law Center. The son of a truckdriver, I am the first of my family to graduate college. I worked my way through law school as a paralegal at Texaco, graduated cum laude from the University of Houston’s Law Center, and earned a position as an environmental litigator for the Company. After leaving Texaco, I helped the citizens of East Houston and Harris County fight air pollution by suing the plants that regularly released toxic pollutants into the air. In addition KIRKLAND to extensive environmental experience, my legal background includes commercial, bankruptcy, transactional and non-profit law.” -- JUDGE KIRKLAND I’M EXPERIENCED

“I am currently the judge of this court which has over 1700 civil cases pending. The cases range from complicated commercial contract disputes to personal injuries in an auto accident to tax delinquencies. I began my judicial career in 2001, as Municipal Judge for the City of Houston where I served until 2008 when I was elected to this bench. “Houston is a microcosm of the world, and that fact is proven to us every day in municipal courts. My favorite part of the job is meeting the people. Every day, I get to look at the world through someone else’s eyes and that is truly exciting.” -- JUDGE KIRKLAND I’M FAIR

“In the May 2011 Houston Bar Association poll, 73% of the lawyers responding had a favorable view of my Courtroom. In December 2006, the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston and Harris County recognized my work in making our Courts accessible. The Coalition named me their Government Friend of the Homeless Award for developing and implementing Houston’s Homeless Recovery Court, the first such Court in the State of Texas. This allows people to move forward into productive lives. This is a win-win for us all.” -- JUDGE KIRKLAND OFF THE BENCH

“Off the bench, I am an advocate for responsible redevelopment of near town neighborhoods by participating in projects and groups that promote the inclusion of affordable housing in redevelopment plans, the preservation of historic architecture, and the provision of public infrastructure and amenities that improve the quality of life for inner city Houstonians. In 1991, I joined with like minded neighbors as a founding board member of Avenue Community Development Corporation. For ten years, I served on the board and my life partner Mark Parthie continues serving today. Avenue has grown over the years and built or restored over 350 units of affordable housing in the Near Northside and Washington Avenue Corridors. Just prior to my full time appointment to the Municipal Courts, I served as Director of Rental Housing at Avenue. My historic preservation efforts have been recognized by the Greater Houston Preservation Alliance. In 1996, my business partners and I received the Good

Brick Award for Neighborhood Revitalization for a block face of properties we restored in the Old Sixth Ward. DOUGLAS SEEKING TO UNSEAT CHAIRMAN LANE LEWIS ON TUESDAY, MAY 29, 2012

Lane Lewis is the current Harris County Democratic Party Chairman. He was elected unanimously in December 2011. Lewis has dedicated his life to serving the people of Houston. The proud son of a teacher and factory supervisor in Pasadena, Texas, Lane understood from an early LEWIS age the value of hard work and helping others. Lewis began his career of service as a licensed Social Worker in Houston. He discovered a passion for helping others during his first job in the field, working with adolescents. The youth he worked with struggled with poverty, abuse, abandonment, drugs and alcohol. In 2009, after serving as elementary school teacher, Lewis unsuccessfully ran for Houston City Council in District A. During this race, Lane was able to use his grassroots organizing experience, his ability to fundraise, and his willingness to work longer and harder than his opponents to make it out of a crowded primary and into a runoff in the most conservative council district in the city. Lewis began serving as the Chair for Senate District 15 in 2009. In that capacity he led his Senate District in implementing a program called “24 15.” This field intensive program relied on paid and volunteer phone banks over many weeks, aimed at talking to potential Democratic voters. This program was a huge success and is a testament to Lane’s experience as a grassroots organizer and someone that is willing to go the extra mile to see Democrats elected. Lewis has a compelling vision for the Harris County Democratic Party. But to implement his full vision he must get past Kerly Burgess Douglas his Democratic primary challenger on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

American Voters Say Happy Days Aren't Quite Here, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; Voters Approve Of Detroit Bailout

The surge of economic optimism may have stalled as American voters say 41 - 35 percent they are worse off financially than four years ago, and 51 percent don't expect their personal financial situation to change in the next 12 months, while 32 percent expect it to get better and 13 percent expect it to get worse, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released recently. Voters say 68 - 27 percent the economy is in a recession, but say 53 - 43 percent it has begun to recover, the independent Quinnipiac (KWINuh-pe-ack) University poll finds. The U.S. Supreme Court should overturn the 2010 health care law, voters say 49 - 38 percent. And voters say 62 - 27 percent the Supreme Court should uphold Arizona's immigration law. By 53 - 41 percent voters approve of the government bailout of the auto industry and believe the bailout has been a success 50 - 38 percent. Democrats approve of the bailout 78 - 17 percent while Republicans disapprove 59 - 34 percent. Independent voters split 49 - 46 percent. "A small majority of American voters think the economy is improving, but the groundswell of optimism we saw in recent months seems to have

hit a wall," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "Last October, voters said 77 - 20 percent the country was in recession. By February public opinion was rosier with voters saying 66 - 30 percent the country was in recession, a solid positive move. "But now, voters say 68 - 27 percent, we are in a recession. The momentum has slowed if not reversed. Similarly, in September voters said 68 28 percent the economy was NOT beginning to recover which turned to 54 - 43 percent in February that it WAS beginning to recover. But now that number has stalled with voters saying 53 43 the economy has begun to recover." Democrats, who tend to have lower incomes than Republicans, say 51 - 23 percent they are better off than four years ago. They are worse off, Republicans say 55 - 24 percent and independent voters say 46 - 32 percent. African-Americans, who as a group have lower incomes than whites, say 55 - 21 percent they are better off. Hispanics also say they are better off 40 - 35 percent, while whites say worse off 46 - 31 percent. "It is symbolic of the yawning political divide in this country that even when asked about their financial situation many voters seem to see the answer through a political prism involving their views about Barack Obama's presidency," said Brown. "It is a reasonable presumption that folks for the president see a need to say they have done better to show support for the president - no matter what they have in their wallet. Those who are anti-Obama feel a need to say he has hurt them financially - even if they're on the upper side of the income scale." Asked about the next 12 months, Democrats say 40 - 7 percent, Republicans 23 - 17 percent and independents 32 - 14 percent that things will get better for them in the next year. Optimistic are black voters 59 - 6 percent, whites 27 - 14 percent and Hispanics 41 - 8 percent. American voters give the Supreme Court a 52 - 31 percent job approval rating, higher than approval ratings for President Obama or for Democrats or Republicans in Congress. Democrats want the high court to uphold the health care law 70 - 16 percent. The court should overturn it, Republicans say 80 - 9 percent and independent voters say 55 - 33 percent. On immigration, there is a smaller partisan divide and Hispanic voters are divided as 45 percent want the court to uphold the Arizona law while 43 percent want the law overturned. From April 11 - 17, Quinnipiac University surveyed 2,577 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 1.9 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones. ----------------------------------------------------------The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Virginia and the nation as a public service and for research. Komen Will Fund Planned Parenthood Affiliates Susan G. Komen for the Cure has announced that it plans to fund at least seventeen Planned Parenthood affiliates in 2012, roughly the same number that received grants from Komen last year, the LESLIE AUN Washington Post reports. The announcement comes at a time when the two women's health organizations are working to repair their relationship, which was badly damaged after Komen said it would defund Planned Parenthood affiliates amid an inquiry launched by Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL) to determine whether the reproductive health care provider was using public funds to pay for abortion services. Although Komen quickly reversed its decision following a torrent of criticism from women and Planned Parenthood supporters, the backlash resulted in fundraising losses and a number of high-profile resignations at Komen affiliates around the country. The total amount to be awarded by Komen has not been announced, but Planned Parenthood has said that nineteen of its seventy-nine affiliates received a total of about $680,000 from the breast cancer charity in 2011. Because not all Komen affiliates begin their fiscal year

on April 1, additional grants may be announced over the next few months. "We know that people have been upset and concerned about recent events," Komen spokeswoman Leslie Aun told the Post. "We've acknowledged our missteps and apologized. People need to know that we have not and never will walk away from women in need. There is no one filling the gap in services the way that Komen is." Statement of State Rep. Ron Reynolds on his arrest on Tuesday, April 24th

HOUSTON, Texas -- "In the early evening of Tuesday, April 24, 2012, I was arrested for the alleged violation of a law known as barratry, or the unlawful solicitation of clients by lawyers. While the facts of the case have yet to be disREYNOLDS closed to me, it is my intent to fully cooperate with the prosecutors who are pursuing the charges," said Rep. Reynolds.

"I maintain my innocence and plan to vigorously defend myself against all allegations. Although it appears that the charges filed against me are politicized, I do not take the matter lightly. In fact, since becoming an elected official, I have voted for new laws holding lawyers guilty of barratry more accountable to their victims. It is my hope that the truth regarding the allegations will soon be made clear. I have full confidence in our judicial system and look forward to a prompt resolution." ANNOUNCEMENT

Republicans Launching Effort to Loosen Democratic Grip On African American Voters

According to a recently released poll by Quinnipiac University President Barack Obama has a stunning 94-3 lead over Mitt Romney among blacks. However, the Republican National Committee is launching a "black Americans" outreach program as part of their "strategic partnerships" initiative aimed at courting groups that have traditionally leaned Democratic according to a recent CNN report by Peter Hamby. The RNC has already launched similar efforts aimed at women and Hispanics. You can find out more about those efforts by visiting GOP.COM. This new website is slated to feature testimonials from some of the party's most prominent black elected officials, including Florida Rep. Allen West, South Carolina Rep. Tim Scott and Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll. "We highlight our elected officials so people understand that we do have Republicans that are elected that are black," said RNC co-chair Sharon Day, the committee's coalitions director. "I don't care if they are a mosquito sprayer or a dog catcher in Arizona, or Jennifer Carroll or Allen West. We have black conservative leaders who stand for their principles." She said the concerns of African American voters are chiefly economic. "We need to explain our values to them," Day told CNN. "To be honest with you, their values and our values are more similar than dissimilar. They are not Democratic values, they are Republican values." "Whether it's African Americans or Caribbean blacks or Asian Americans, the issues are the same," she said. "They want a job, a strong economy, a good education for their children. Those are the things that matter. As Republicans we can bring those things to the table." According to Day, this special website will be earmarked for African American outreach and recuiting black candidates. "It would be great if Texas would follow the RNC's lead," says Aubrey R. Taylor, founder of Aubrey R. Taylor Communications. "African Americans in Texas need to also be made aware of the rich history of the Republican Party of Texas. Most folks in Texas don't even know that

throughout Reconstruction African Americans comprised about 90% of Texas GOP membership.

THE TEXAS REPUBLICAN PARTY

Today’s Texas Republican Party was founded in 1854 by a group of Mid-Western abolitionists opposed to the Kansas-Nebraska Bill, which allowed a choice of slavery in the new territories of Kansas and Nebraska. Texas, which had become a state in 1845, was right in the middle of the heated slavery controversy. Most state leaders were Democrats prior to the Civil War, and thus supported the pro-slavery Confederacy. But President Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president, gained the support of Texas Republicans and several prominent state leaders, like Sam Houston, Texas’ first Governor. However, most of those who decided to support Lincoln’s decision to defend the Union were forced from office, and Democrats succeeded in allying Texas with the Confederacy. The effects of the Civil War and its aftermath would be felt for more than a century throughout the South, and especially in Texas. For its first two generations, Texas had known only honor, victory and valor. Though Texans never lost a battle at home during the Civil War, the Union army under orders from a Republican President marched in and occupied the Lone Star State after the Confederacy surrendered. For the first time, Texas would not be victorious. The next four generations of Texans would not forgive the Republican Party. INFORMATION

African American were the Major Supporters of the Republican Party of Texas in the beginning

African Americans were one group of Texans that would consistently support the Republican Party in Texas in those early years. In fact, throughout Reconstruction, African Americans comprised about 90% of GOP membership, and 44 African Americans served in the Texas legislature as Republicans. It was through the hard work of a number of dedicated African American men and women that the earliest foundations of the Republican Party of Texas were laid. The first ever state Republican convention that met in Houston on July 4, 1867 was predominantly African American in composition, with about 150 African American Texans attending, and 20 Anglos. The second State GOP Chairman, Norris Wright Cuney, an African-American from Galveston who led the Republican Party from 1883 to 1897, is said by State historians to have held “the most important political position given to a black man of the South in the nineteenth century.” PROFILES

In his first year as Chairman, Reince oversaw a dramatic turnaround of the RNC, building it into a strong and effective organization for electing Republicans in 2012. Under Reince’s leadership, the RNC raised more major donor money in an off year than in the history of the RNC. At the same time, the RNC has broken new ground, deploying new communication strategies and innovative technology for voter outreach. Reince is committed to uniting the Republican Party to reach our PRIEBUS common goal – electing Republicans. With sound fiscal stewardship, a dedication to conservative principles, and a message of freedom and prosperity, Reince continues to lead the party toward victory in 2012. During Reince’s tenure, Republicans in Wisconsin not only defeated Russ Feingold by electing citizen legislator Ron Johnson to the Senate, but they gained two additional U.S. House seats, won the Governor’s office, took back both the state Assembly and the state Senate and defeated the leaders of both of those chambers. Reince has a long history in Republican pol-

itics, having served on his first campaign at the age of 16. Since then, he worked his way up through the ranks of the Republican Party of Wisconsin as 1st Congressional District Chairman, State Party Treasurer, First Vice Chair, and eventually State Party Chairman. In 2009 Reince served as General Counsel to the RNC, a role in which he volunteered his time to help manage the RNC’s most difficult challenges. Sergeant Hubbard Calls For Precinct 7 Voters to Fire Constable May Walker

FROM THE SERGEANT LEON HUBBARD FOR PRECINCT 7 CONSTABLE CAMPAIGN

“They could have indicted her…” is what defense attorney Chip Lewis told the Houston Chronicle regarding his client (Constable May Walker) on Friday, February 10, 2012 shortly after a Harris County grand jury let her off the hook. Lewis went on to say: “But just because there is a technical violation of the law does not mean a grand jury sees fit to indict.” BREAKING THE LAW IS BREAKING THE LAW

“When is a ‘technical violation’ of the law not a crime? Isn’t a ‘technical violation’ of the law still a violation of the law? I believe a so called ‘technical violation’ of the law; is still a violation of the law,” says Sergeant Leon Hubbard — the only candidate running for Harris County Precinct 7 constable with more than 30 years of law enforcement experience matched with an unblemished and honorable track-record of more than 27 years already committed to the citizens of the Harris County Precinct 7 community.

SERGEANT HUBBARD CAN CLEAN UP THE MESS MADE BY CONSTABLE MAY WALKER

On Friday, February 10, 2012 a Harris County Grand jury declined to indict Constable May Walker on criminal charges being alleged against the embattled Precinct 7 constable. But does that mean she was innocent of the charges and accusations alleged against her? “That’s a good question,” says Hubbard. “A person could be guilty as sin, and not have criminal charges brought against them for various reasons,” Hubbard explains. “That doesn’t mean they’re innocent – it simply means they may have been let off the hook for whatever reason,” says Hubbard. “In the story recently published in the Houston Chronicle, Constable May Walker was described as ‘being thankful, relieved and contrite’ by her defense attorney Chip Lewis; and she should be,” says Hubbard. In the aforementioned article (written by Brian Rogers in the Houston Chronicle), attorney Chip Lewis also stated that there were no allegations or inferences that Constable May Walker personally benefited from her office, but rather, that it was ‘administrative missteps’ that landed her in trouble with the law. Lewis also claimed, Constable May Walker has made the necessary changes, including ending the raffle; and is trying to get permission to conduct legal drawings according to the article.

THE HARM TO PRECINCT 7 HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE BY CONSTABLE MAY WALKER

“But the harm of Constable May Walker’s shameful ‘administrative missteps’ has already been done to Precinct 7. This is too little — and it’s definitely too late. This constable has brought more shame to the Precinct 7 constable’s office; and the time for change has come,” says Hubbard. “Her own attorney said they could have indicted her — what more is there to say? I would just like to know how Constable May Walker managed to escape indictment; and what the grand jury considered. But we will perhaps never get the answers to these questions,” he says. “Grand juries have a difficult job to do; and I understand that. But the bad thing about this whole matter is: since there were no charges filed against Constable May Walker; and the fact the grand jury proceedings were done in secrecy; we don’t even know what the investigation into Constable May Walker involved,” explains Hubbard.

SERGEANT L;EON HUBBARD IS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR CONSTABLE IN THE UPCOMING DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY

Sergeant Leon Hubbard plans to restore honesty, integrity, and experience so OUR community will have trust in the Precinct 7 constables office again. Sergeant Leon Hubbard will increase the visibility of patrols to help reduce criminal activity in OUR Precinct 7 neighborhoods. Sergeant Leon Hubbard will create a “HOTSPOT UNIT” to aggressively fight high-crime areas where there are a substantial amount of citizen complaints about criminal activity in OUR Precinct 7 neighborhoods. Sergeant Leon Hubbard will create a “SPECIAL EVENTS DIVISION” to provide security for special community related events taking place in OUR Precinct 7. Sergeant Leon Hubbard will establish a more active and effective “WARRANT DIVISION” at OUR Precinct 7 Constables office. Sergeant Leon Hubbard will re-establish a dependable “CIVIL DIVISION” so citizens who receive civil citations will be served expeditiously and have their day in court in order to prevent default judgments being levied against them. Sergeant Leon Hubbard plans to abolish the practice of charging Precinct 7 citizens for coming into OUR constable’s office to have their finger prints taken for their own private use. WE currently have to pay for having this done under May Walker’s administration.

PRECINCT 7 NEEDS A CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP RIGHT NOW

“During my process of walking and knocking on doors throughout Precinct 7 I’m running into people (all across the precinct) who want real answers and change; people who are ashamed about what’s continuing to happen time and time again in the Precinct 7 constable’s office. Constable May Walker has shamed our community with her ‘administrative missteps’ and so called ‘technical violation’ of the law. Being let off the hook by the grand jury shouldn’t excuse the fact that she should still be fired at the ballot box in the 2012 Democratic primary,” says Hubbard.

DONT LET CONSTABLE MAY WALKER OFF THE HOOK

“We can do much better than this in Precinct 7. We must restore honesty and integrity back to the Precinct 7 constable’s office; and I’m the right person for the job. I’ve dedicated over 30 years of my life to law enforcement in one capacity or another — and I’m ready to serve Precinct 7 from day one.” “I’m a team player whose been asked to do something about the problems in the office currently being run by this embattled constable.” “I served the Precinct 7 Constable’s office honorably before I retired in 2010; and I’m stepping up to the plate to continue

my service to this community.” “My experience as a deputy and supervisor has prepared me for the job that needs to be done to clean up the mess made by Constable May Walker,” proclaims Hubbard. “There was a very informative new telecast aired recently on KTRK Channel 13 which stated that Constable May Walker is likely breathing a sigh of relief, but that many of her deputies are expressing shock, and fearing that she may retaliate against them. That’s just not right! That’s no environment to go to work in; and we must do something about this at the ballot box in the 2012 Democratic primary,” says Hubbard.

PRECINCT 7 VOTERS MUST FIRE CONSTABLE WALKER

“Firing the embattled Constable May Walker; and increasing morale at the Harris County Precinct 7 constable’s office is one of my top priorities; but it’s not the only one,” explains Sergeant Hubbard.

A FEW THOUGHTS FROM AUBREY R. TAYLOR

DON’T FORGET TO VOTE IN THE 2012 DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES IN TEXAS! -- OUR VOTER’S GUIDE WILL BE RELEASED ON FRIDAY, MAY 25, 2012

WE MUST USE WISDOM WITH OUR WORDS

“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” — PROVERBS 15:1 - “There are some people we just have to deal with in life — there’s just no way around that. People are brought into our lives for specific reasons during specific seasons. It could be someone close to you who’s getting on your last nerve; a bill collector; a boss who’s not treating you fairly; or someone you love dearly — I don’t know. But just remember that we can’t change or control the actions of others and how they respond to us; but we can change how we choose to respond to them. Sometimes our approach has to be altered a bit to keep peace flowing; and to get what we want out of a given situation. The right word spoken in the right tone can be a deal maker; just like the wrong word can be a deal breaker.” -- AUBREY

BE CAREFUL WHO YOU ALLOW TO COME ALONG FOR THE RIDE

“Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is separated from his neighbour.” — PROVERBS: 19:4 - “Not everybody in our lives are meant to come along for the full-ride. As you grow in popularity and wealth, just be really careful who you allow to enter into your inner-circle. Be wise and use Godly discernment in your personal and professional dealings. And by all means, don’t allow just anyone to hitch their boxcar to your train.” -- AUBREY

NOBODY CAN DO YOU BETTER THAN YOU!

“A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.” — PROVERBS 18:16 “Right now the stage is being set for you. There are no over-night successes. Luck has nothing to do with it either! People (like us) spend lifetimes being prepared and sacrificing before we’re ever even aware that they exist. God has created you in a unique mold that He threw away once you were created. You are uniquely formed, prepared and anointed with gifting and talents that nobody else on earth has been given. Nobody can beat you at being you; just remember that today.” -- AUBREY

TALKING ALONE WON’T BRING OUR DREAMS TO PASS!

“In all labour there is profit; but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.” — PROVERBS 14:23 “The American College Dictionary defines penury as: 1. Extreme Poverty; Destitution. 2. Dearth or insufficiency. Sure, we must speak and talk about what we’re going to do in life: that’s an important part of the process. But at some point actions must follow our words; or we’re going to find ourselves in a state of extreme poverty and destitution. We must speak it; but we must also be an active participant in the process of bringing what we’re speaking into existence to pass.” -- AUBREY

GOD’S THOUGHTS ARE HIGHER THAN OUR THOUGHTS

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” — ISAIAH: 55:8 - “Don’t sweat the small stuff. Even if you can’t see the way, you must keep going. God already knows what He’s going to do about what concerns you today. So don’t sweat the stuff that you have no control over anyway.” -- AUBREY

WE CAN MOVE MOUNTAINS WITH OUR WORDS!

“If ye have faith as a grain of a mustard seed...nothing shall be impossible unto you!” — MATTHEW 17:20 - “Always believe! Keep believing! Never stop believing! How long? Keep on believing for as long as it takes for you to lay hold of that which has been promised to you. The enemy can smell unbelief from a mile away. And unbelief opens the door for fear to creep into our lives. Jesus said, “Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to

yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” I found that in the 17th Chapter and 20th verse of the book of Matthew.” -- AUBREY

GOD KNOWS THE WAY!

“I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee how to profit, which leadeth the by the way that thou shouldest go.” — ISAIAH 48:17 - “God knows exactly what we need and how He’s going to get it to us; and how to lead us to it too. Keep trusting, praying believing, and praising God for getting you the provision needed to accomplish the vision you’ve been given. For, whenever God has given us a vision, He’s obligated to provide us with the provision we need to accomplish the vision we’ve been given.” -- AUBREY

PRAISE GOD IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR VICTORY!

“Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness” — PSALMS 150:2 - “You are already a winner! You’ve already won! If the enemy was going to be able to stop you, he would have done it already. The fact that you’re reading this thought today is proof positive that God isn’t through with you yet. Keep praising him for the good He’s done, doing and about to do in your life.” -- AUBREY

OUR FATHER IS WORTHY TO BE PRAISED!

“Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the LORD.” — ISAIAH 150:6 - “The funny thing about God is that He sometimes will choose the unlikeliest of individuals to accomplish extraordinary things in the world. He can use anyone he chooses; so why not you? You’re chosen, anointed, appointed and well-able to accomplish every God-given and inspired goal that’s been planted in your spirit. Praise God for his goodness, faithfulness and perfect love today. And keep it moving!” -- AUBREY

YOUR DREAM WILL COME TO PASS!

“Commit thy way unto the LORD, trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” —PSALMS 37:5 “We can’t do it on our own. God can do more in one day than you or I could do in a lifetime of trying on our own. Our biggest challenge is to make sure that our dreams and desires are in line with His will for our lives. Once we do that, we must remain in Him and stay on the path that has been chosen for us. God is carefully watching over His plan for our lives and is surely going to cause it to be realized.” -- AUBREY

DON’T FORGET WHO HELPED YOU!

“ ...Remember the LORD thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth.” — DEUTERONOMY 8:18 - “God has a predetermined path for you and I to travel to get to the promise that He’s already prepared for us. It really doesn’t matter if we’re talking about our personal, professional or political lives; God is our helper in every area of our lives. So we can’t leave our Father out of any part of the decision making process. I’ve made this mistake many times in my life; and it’s a costly mistake to make. So never forget who’s working on your behalf.” -- AUBREY

GOD GIVES US WEALTH FOR A PURPOSE

“...That he may establish His covenant which He sware unto thy Fathers...this day.” — DEUTERONOMY 8:18 - “There’s a purpose and reason for everything that our Father allows to happen in our lives. And He’s going to allow wealth to come into our lives so His will can be accomplished in our lives and the world around us. But it’s not going to be so we can harbor and amass an abundance of wealth. God wants us to be a distribution center and a gateway to cause people to see His goodness in our world; that they may praise Him for His goodness in the land.” -- AUBREY
