INCLUSIONS: International group airfares are included from Auckland where you meet your House of Travel host and fellow travellers. The cruise, accommodation with private facilities, meals as stated on each itinerary, entrance fees for included sightseeing with local expert English-speaking guides while touring, as well as gratuities, are all included. Due to the extensive range of cruise shore excursions however, we have left the choice to you to best suit your individual interests. ACCOMMODATION: Our selected cruise ships offer a range of cabin accommodation, usually ranging from Inside cabin with no window, to Outside with a window, and Balcony or Verandah which has its own private balcony. Hotels have been chosen for their central locations, allowing you to fully experience the full essence and flavour of each place visited. Mediterranean to the Swiss Alps Itinerary Sun 17 May: Depart Auckland Meet your host and fellow travellers for the overnight flight to Dubai. Mon 18 May: Dubai – Barcelona Transit to onward flight. On arrival in Barcelona, transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure in this fascinating city. Early evening meet your host and fellow travellers for a welcome reception. Tue 19 May: Barcelona This morning, enjoy a city sightseeing tour of Barcelona with an Englishspeaking local guide. You’ll see many of the famous sights of the city including Montjuic Hill, Passeig de Gracia with the houses of the famous architect Antoni Gaudi as well as the iconic cathedral, Sagrada Familia. This afternoon, time at leisure to explore at your own pace. (B)

Tue 26 May: Sète, France A popular option from this port is an excursion* to the UNESCO World Heritage-site of Carcassonne, home to one of the world’s most fascinating medieval citadels. Settled as early as the 6th century B.C. Carcassonne later became a significant Roman town. In the 4th century is was fortified and became a strategic site in the Middle Ages during the Crusades. Other options are available or you might choose to wander through the fascinating small town of Sète. (B,L,D) Wed 27 May: Provence (Toulon), France Access to numerous historical and interesting places is available from this port. Perhaps visit Marseille; the inspiring town of Aix-en-Provence with its 101 fountains; the small seaside resort of Cassis or the renowned resort town of St. Tropez. Toulon itself also boasts charming streets and squares if you prefer to wander at your leisure. (B,L,D)

(B,L,D) Sat 23 May: Seville (Cádiz), Spain Cádiz is an ancient city port in the Andalucia region of southwestern Spain. It has more than 100 watchtowers, including the iconic Torre Tavira, which was traditionally used for spotting ships. On the waterfront is the domed 18th century Cádiz Cathedral featuring baroque and neoclassical elements. For the best way to see the locals going about their day, a visit to the Cádiz market is a must. Its location on the Atlantic gives it Spain’s freshest fish and seafood. Thu 28 May: Florence/Pisa (La Spezia), Italy The port of La Spezia is the gateway to Florence and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A selection of options* are available for a tour to Florence or Pisa individually or combine both destinations to get the best of both worlds. (B L,D) Fri 29 May : Ajaccio, Corsica Ajaccio is the capital of Corsica, a port city on the rugged isle’s western coast of this French island. It was the birthplace of French Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte in 1769. Perhaps visit his ancestral home, Maison Bonaparte, now a museum displaying family heirlooms. Or the baroque 16th century Notre Dame Cathedral where Napoléon was baptised, displaying paintings from old masters. (B,L,D) Sat 30 May: Rome Disembark the ship this morning and transfer from the port of Civitavecchia to central Rome and our hotel for the next two nights. Early evening, enjoy an informal reception with your fellow travellers on the roof terrace of your hotel with cocktails and canapés. Mon 01 Jun: Rome – Castelnuovo Depart the ‘Eternal City’ after breakfast, leaving the city behind as we head north into Umbria, often called the country’s green heart and known for its medieval towns and dense forests. We’ll stop and enjoy time in Orvieto and Montepulciano, two of the most famous and picturesque medieval towns of the region. The journey ends today in the Chianti region of Tuscany for an overnight stay. (B, D)

Mediterranean to the Swiss Alps Itinerary continued Tue 02 Jun: Castelnuovo – Stresa We continue travelling north to the city of Milan, known as the global capital of fashion and design, and home to the national stock exchange. It’s a financial hub also known for its high-end restaurants and shops. A local guide will join the coach for a panoramic sightseeing tour of the city before continuing on foot for a guided tour inside the Gothic Duomo di Milano Cathedral. Later we journey to Stresa, home for the next two nights. (B) Wed 03 Jun: Stresa – Lake Maggiore Our hotel overlooks the shores of Lake Maggiore, directly facing the Borromean Islands and it’s just a 5 minute walk from the hotel to board your private boat for a relaxing days cruise on the lake. Accompanied by your English-speaking guide, enjoy the phenomenal views from the water, discover the beauty of Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella. Visit the Borromean Palaces and botanical gardens on Isola Madre; stroll through the splendid baroque gardens of Isola Bella and learn about the history of the Borromeo family. (B,D)

Fri 05 Jun: St. Moritz – Zermatt Returning to St. Moritz railway station this morning you board the famous Glacier Express for the journey to Zermatt. Billed as Europe’s slowest express train, it’s a narrow gauge train which takes about 8 hours to cover approximately 290 kilometres at an average speed of around 40 kilometres per hour. The route takes you through the three canyons of Valais, Uri and Graubünden, with the huge panoramic side windows and glass skylights offering spectacular views of the beautiful Swiss mountain scenery. A 3-course lunch is served onboard to complete this relaxing journey. On arrival in Zermatt, walk the short distance from the rail station to your hotel for the next two nights. (Note: your luggage will be handled separately). (B,L,D) Sat 06 Jun: Zermatt Today you will take the Open-Air cogwheel train from Zermatt GGB to Gornergrat. Enjoy time at the Gornergrat to admire the wonderful views of the valley and of the mighty Matterhorn, probably the most famous mountain in Switzerland. On return to Zermatt, enjoy time at your leisure to explore this lovely car-free town at you own pace. (B)

Lake Maggiore, Italy

Thu 04 Jun: Stresa – St. Moritz Depart Stresa after breakfast and drive to Tirano where you will board the Bernina Express - arguably one of the most scenic train rides in Europe. The Bernina Express is a narrow-gauge train with panoramic sightseeing carriages affording the perfect view of incredible alpine landscapes and a UNESCO World Heritage-site. Highlights on the Tirano to St. Moritz route include the Brusio Circular Viaduct, Alp Grüm and Lago Bianco. On arrival in St. Moritz, it’s just a short walk from the rail station to your hotel for an overnight stay. (Note: your luggage will be handled separately). (B,D)

Sun 07 Jun: Zermatt – Zurich Depart Zermatt to continue the journey to Zurich by train. On arrival you’ll be met by a local English-speaking guide for a leisurely walking tour of the Old Town. Zurich is rich in heritage and the rail station is located in the Old Town so a perfect place to start a tour of this fascinating, historic area. Medieval houses, contorted narrow lanes, guild and town halls from the Renaissance period offer a living history of characteristic buildings and the people that lived there. End the tour at your hotel. (Note: your luggage will be transported to the hotel). Remainder of the day is at your leisure. Tue 19 May: Doha – Zagreb Transit Doha to connect with the connecting service to Zagreb. On arrival transfer to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure before meeting your Host and Tour Director. Dinner and overnight in Zagreb. (D) Wed 20 May: Zagreb – Trakoščan – Zagreb Today, discover Zagreb with your local guide taking in the historic parts of the city, including Ban Jelačić Square and medieval settlements of Gradec and Kaptol. See the Cathedral, Dolac Market, Tkalčićeva Street, Stone Gate and St Mark's Church. Sun 24 May: Bale – Pula – Rovinj – Bale Today we travel to Pula. See the Pula Arena the sixth largest amphitheatre in the world, the Temple of Augustus and the Arch of Sergii. Continue to Rovinj one of the most romantic seaside villages on the Mediterranean, with cobbled streets, picturesque buildings and squares to take your breath away. Enjoy lunch in this romantic town before returning to Bale for the rest of the day at leisure. (B,L) Mon 25 May: Bale – Poreč – Motovun – Bale Travel to Poreč, home to the UNESCO World Heritage-site Euphrasius Basillica from the 6th century AD. The apse of the Basilica is ornately decorated with figural mosaics noted as one of the most remarkable examples of mosaic art in Europe. Later proceed to the gorgeous hilltop town of Motovun, possibly the most picturesque medieval town of inner Istria. Continue to lunch where you will experience a famous Istrian delicacy of truffles. (B,T,L) Tue 26 May: Bale – Opatija – Plitvice Lakes Set off this morning to Plitvice Lakes National Park with a stop at Opatija, one of the most popular seaside resort on the Adriatic and often referred to as Croatia's Monte Carlo. This little town was once the playground of the Austro-Hungarian nobility who had their summer palaces here and was home to the first casino in Europe. Now many of these palaces are the stunning historical hotels you see today. (B,D)

Thu 21 May: Zagreb – Ljubljana Depart for the Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana. On arrival, a local guide will join us to show us the highlights of this stunning city. This city with a soul features the Baroque Old Town nestled at the foot of Castle Hill, the Art Nouveau mansions and masterpieces of the renowned architect Jože Plečnik. Later enjoy a funicular ride to Ljubljana Castle. Time at leisure before enjoying dinner at your hotel. (B,D) Fri 22 May: Ljubljana – Bled – Ljubljana An excursion to Bled today including entrance to the Old Town and Pletna boat ride. Lake Bled, together with its surroundings, ranks among the most beautiful alpine resorts. This pearl of Slovenia and the whole Alpine region, with a tiny island and St Mary's Church in the middle of the lake, and the old medieval castle up on the cliff won't disappoint when it comes to enchanting views and fairy-tale beauty. Wed 27 May: Plitvice Lakes – Zadar Today explore the National Park. The Plitvice Lakes are Croatia's most popular tourist attraction. The beauty lies in its sixteen lakes, interconnected by a series of waterfalls, set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. Enjoy a packed lunch before departing for Zadar where the rest of your day is at leisure. (B,L,D) Thu 28 May: Zadar This morning you will join a local guide for a walking tour of Zadar, one of the most charming old Dalmatian cities dating back to Roman times. Steeped in history, see the Roman Forum, St Donatus Church, the reconstructed Romanesque St Grisigono's Church, St Mary's Bell Tower and St Anastasia Cathedral. Take a stroll along its beautiful promenade Sea Organ and Greetings to the Sun, a sound and light spectacle and an award-winning architectural space. The remainder of the day is at leisure. This evening we will have dinner at a local Dalmatian restaurant. (B,D) Fri 29 May: Zadar – Šibenik – Trogir – Split Depart Zadar and travel along the Dalmatian coastline where the first stop is Šibenik. Discover the oldest Croatian city on the Adriatic and Croatia's most beautiful monument St James Cathedral. Continue to Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage protected historic stone town which is often described as an open-air museum. See the Cathedral of St Lawrence and the beautiful Kamerlengo Tower. This evening you may wish to dine at a local restaurant followed by a walk on the Split Riva. (B)

Sat 23 May: Ljubljana – Postojna Caves – Predjama – Momjan – Bale Depart for Bale via the Postojna Caves, one of the world's largest karst monuments. For 140 years train journeys have been taking visitors through the caves to see the spectacular underground subterranean world. Photo stop in Predjama Castle before arriving to the small village of Momjan for an afternoon at an award-winning winery. Enjoy dinner at the hotel this evening. (B,T,D)

Treasures of Croatia, Slovenia & Montenegro Itinerary continued Sat 30 May: Split Transfer to Split Port to embark the luxurious MS Markan. After settling in, enjoy a guided tour of Split, a historic town under UNESCO protection and part of the World Heritage with an abundance of Roman architecture. Of special interest here is the magnificent Diocletian Palace, once inhabited by the Roman Emperor. After the tour, return to the ship for a welcome meet and greet cocktail reception onboard. Overnight in Split. (B,D) Sun 31 May: Split – Bol – Hvar Swim at the most famous beach in Croatia, Zlatni Rat near Bol on the Island of Brač. Lunch is onboard at the Pakleni Islands, near the Island of Hvar. Hvar is the longest and sunniest island in the Adriatic famous for its lavender and scenic beauty. Enjoy a presentation of lavender products and a tour of the town's historical landmarks - the Renaissance Cathedral with its original tower and the oldest community theatre in Europe. Take a walk to the Spanish Fortress overlooking the harbour for lovely scenic views. This evening explore Hvar with its numerous restaurants, bars and cafés open long into the night. (B,L) Mon 01 Jun: Hvar – Biševo (Blue Cave) – Vis Cruise towards Biševo to visit the Blue Cave, a magnificent natural phenomenon. Visits to the caves are a special charm. Try some exquisite wine in one of the Vis traditional wineries. If interested, visit the remains of the Roman thermal place, city museum or simply take a walk enjoying the views of the beautiful Villae Rusticae situated along the waterfront. (B,L,T)

Wed 03 Jun: Korčula – Mljet Continue to the Island of Mljet. The legend says Greek hero Odysseus spent years on this island when he was captured by the nymph Calypso. Join the Cruise Director for a stroll to the famous saltwater lakes in the National Park and enjoy a boat ride to St Mary Isle to visit an ancient Benedictine monastery, an old abbey and a church from the 12th century. Alternatively, you can rent kayaks, bicycles, scooters or convertible cars to roam around the National Park or island. Dinner onboard and overnight in Polača or Pomena. (B,L,D) Thu 04 Jun: Mljet – Ston – Slano Depart to Slano a peaceful fishermen's village and the starting point of Ston, another once fortified small town, famous for its oysters. After exploring the town's medieval ramparts, a short coastal walk leads us to an oyster farm to learn more about oysters and tasting this delicious treat. Transfer to the ship for Captain's farewell dinner with entertainment and music. (B,L,T,D) Fri 05 Jun: Slano – Dubrovnik The charm of Dubrovnik is the buildings that have remained from the time of the old Dubrovnik Republic. Enjoy a lunch cruise along the Dubrovnik City Walls before docking in Gruž Port. Transfer to the Old Town for a guided walking tour. Take the cable car from the Old Town to Mount Srđ to enjoy scenic views of the walls and Elaphiti Islands. For those with more enthusiasm we recommend a walk along the city walls. (B,L)

Tue 02 Jun: Vis – Korčula Cruise towards Korčula the birthplace of Marco Polo. Lunch is in a secluded bay en-route. Afternoon arrival followed by a guided walking tour of this enchanting medieval coastal town. A fish bone street-pattern design was used in Korčula Old Town to reduce effects of wind and sun and provide citizens with sheltered and comfortable accommodation. There are many wonderful restaurants to choose as well as bars and clubs for those looking for evening entertainment. Optional excursion to small village near Korčula for real local experience where you will enjoy dinner and hear about history and local life. (B,L)

Sat 06 Jun: Perast – Kotor – Budva After disembarkation, we depart to Montenegro. Visit Perast and Our Lady of the Rocks Islet. Then continue to Kotor. Visit of the town, followed by free time for lunch. Then proceed to Budva for a visit of the pearl of Montenegrin tourism, thanks to the great number of beaches and hotels that make this a most desirable tourist destination in Montenegro. After the visit, return to Dubrovnik. (B,D) Sun 07 Jun: Dubrovnik Today is at leisure to explore the beautiful "Pearl of the Adriatic". If time permits, take a walk along the old medieval ramparts (it'll take you approximately 2 hours to do a full circle) and be transported into a different time zone or enjoy a day relaxing by the pool or beach. This evening we will have a farewell dinner. (B,D) Mon 08 Jun: Dubrovnik Morning at leisure before a transfer to Dubrovnik Airport for travel via Zagreb to transit in Doha. Spring in Western Australia Itinerary Wed 09 Sep: Depart Auckland – Sydney Meet your host and fellow travellers for the flight across the Tasman to Sydney. On arrival, transfer directly to Sydney Railway Station to board the iconic Indian Pacific train. The Nullabor, with its rusty earth and hardy outback shrubs covers 200,000 square kilometres of South Australia and Western Australia. This evening, enjoy dinner under the brilliant stars in Rawlinna, a remote town in Western Australia, positioned on the fringes of some of Australia’s largest sheep stations. Spring in Western Australia Itinerary continued Thu 17 Sep: Broome Full of colour and natural wonder, Broome is a beach resort and pearling town in the Kimberley region, popular for the iconic 22 kilometre stretch of white sand known as Cable Beach and walking along dinosaur footprints. Situated on a north/south peninsula, Broome has water on both sides of the town. On the eastern shore are the waters of Roebuck Bay, extending from the main jetty at Port Drive to Sandy Point. Town Beach is part of the shoreline and is the site of the famous ‘Staircase to the Moon’ where a receding tide and a rising moon combine to create a stunning natural phenomenon. Roebuck Bay is of international importance for the millions of migrating waders or shorebirds that use it seasonally on migration from their breeding grounds in northern Asia. They feed on the extensive mudflats and roost at high tide on the red sand beaches of the bay. They are seen in their largest numbers in summer but many of the younger birds remain throughout the first and second years of their lives. A mixed black flying fox and little red flying fox colony of around 50,000 megabats lives all year in mangroves next to Broome township’s small Streeter’s Jetty. They chatter and socialise loudly before flying out at dusk each evening. Broome will certainly be a highlight of your trip. (B,L,D)

Tue 22 Sep: Pinnacles Day Tour A memorable day is ahead of you as we journey north to Nilgen Lookout with spectacular views of the Indian Ocean. Continue on to the small fishing village of Cervantes and enjoy a fish and chip lunch at the famous Lobster Shack. Later, we tour Mount Lesueur National Park to spot wildflowers, including the rare Black Kangaroo Paw. Mon 28 Sep: Toronto – Montebello Today, we depart Toronto travelling northeast to the city of Peterborough, the southern gateway to the Kawartha Lakes region and the major link in the Trent-Severn Waterway. Continuing eastward, we reach Kingston, noted for its handsome, 19th century limestone architecture and located at the point where Lake Ontario flows into the St. Lawrence River and at the southern end of the Rideau Canal. See the Kingston Mills Lock Station where you can view four locks raising boats 14 metres. Later, we continue travelling east through the Thousand Island Parkway before arriving in Montebello and our spectacular home for the next two nights, the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello. (B,D)

From artisanal charcuteries to thirst-quenching draft beers, discover the surrounding areas of the Jean-Talon Market. (D) Wed 28 Oct: Santiago Santiago, Chile’s capital and largest city, sits in a valley surrounded by the snow-capped Andes and the Chilean Coast Range. This morning enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city starting at the Plaza de Armas, the grand heart of the city’s old colonial core and home to two neoclassical landmarks: the 1808 Palacio de la Real Audiencia, housing the National History Museum and the 18th century Metropolitan Cathedral. You’ll see the old and stately neighbourhoods of the moneyed immigrants, mainly Europeans. A highlight will be the magnificent panoramic view from one of the hills surrounding the city. The rest of the day is at your own leisure. (B)

Thu 29 Oct: Santiago – Santa Rita Winery This morning we travel toward the Maipo Valley and Santa Rita vineyard. Founded in 1880, the winery is surrounded by a unique environment where wine-making tradition, Chilean history, culture and gastronomy are blended together. Enjoy a tour of the winery, including wine tasting, followed by a lunch in the excellent restaurant Doña Paula, located in the vineyards colonial mansion. (B,L)

Tue 03 Nov: Cruising Chilean Fjords The west coast of Chile is sliced by dramatic inlets or fjords lined with rugged mountains and glacier-covered valleys. This spectacular stretch of coastline starts near the Reloncavi Estuary (roughly half way down the spine of Chile) and extends south to the very end of the continent at Tierra del Fuego, some 1500 kilometres as the crow flies. Travel here however is never in a straight line with ships following meandering paths along the many fjords and channels. You’ll gasp in wonder at the stunning scenery of this windswept and dramatic landscape. (B,L,D) Wed 04 Nov: Scenic cruising Sarmiento Channel The Sarmiento Channel is a protected inside passage that begins at the Guia Narrows on the north end and runs south-to-southeast for approximately 100 kilometres and finishing at the southern edge of Victoria Pass where it joins the Smyth Channel. The Chilean mainland lies to the east and the islands of Esperanza, Vancouver and Piazzi flank the channel to the west. As elsewhere in the Chilean fjord region, the ragged coastline is cut with inlets set among snow-covered mountain ranges. In many places, massive glaciers run down to the sea. All kinds of marine animals, including Magellanic penguins, southern elephant seals, dolphins and orcas, can be seen along these shores. (B,L,D) Thu 05 Nov: Strait of Magellan – Punta Arenas, Chile This windblown city near Chile’s southernmost tip sits on the Strait of Magellan, which itself is positioned squarely between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Whether you choose to explore at your own pace or participate in a cruise line excursion*, be sure to wear warm, layered clothing. We recommend the outer layer be waterproof and windproof. This evening, your cruise enters the navigable Beagle Channel, a strait in the Tierra del Fuego archipelago at the southern end of Chile. Tue 17 Nov: Iguazu Falls – Argentinian side No trip to Argentina is complete without visiting the Iguazu Falls, made up of 275 waterfalls that reach an altitude of nearly 80 metres. Enjoy a full day exploring the Argentinian side of the waterfalls with a local guide. The Lower Circuit trail approximately 1.3 kilometre long allows you to get close to some of the smaller waterfalls. Walk along the trail to get close to the Carlos Bozzetti waterfall where you can take some great photos. From the Upper Circuit, see the top of the falls for a panoramic view of the area, stretching from the Argentinian Falls to San Martin Island and parts of the Brazilian Falls. (B)

Fri 13 Nov: Buenos Aires Following breakfast, disembark Westerdam to meet a local guide for a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the city including lunch in a local restaurant. You’ll see the Plaza de Mayo, the city’s foundation site; the Pink House of the Presidential Palace; the Cabildo, the primitive town hall; and the Neoclassical-styled Metropolitan Cathedral, the final home of Argentina’s founding father. In Retiro and Recoleta, learn about the dream of local aristocrats in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when they sought to build a small-scale Paris in the heart of the city. Visit Puerto Madero, the latest addition to the city’s barrios, San Telmo, one of the oldest neighbourhoods now home to many artists and artisans and La Boca. Later, continue on to the exclusive ranch of El Ombu de Areco where you’ll have a chance to explore the 300-hectare property, either on horseback accompanied by seasoned gauchos or on a horse-drawn carriage. Those interested in learning more about some of the thousand species of Argentinian birds will be provided with binoculars and guide books. Wed 18 Nov: Iguazu Falls – Brazilian side – Buenos Aires After breakfast, travel to the Brazilian side of the waterfalls. You’ll get a closeup view of Devil’s Throat with 14 falls dropping 107 metres with such force that a 30 metre tall cloud of mist stays permanently suspended overhead. This area is famous for its rainbow and more great photo opportunities. You can walk thought the park’s subtropical forest at the base of Salto Floriano, then take the elevator to the top of the falls, or walk out over the falls at Salto Union.
