General Information Accommodation Ratings To assist with the selection of your accommodation we have created our own rating system allowing you to compare each property. These are personal ratings offered by our people from their own experience and should therefore be used as a guide only. These ratings may alter throughout the year due to a change of circumstances. Moderate accommodation with a reasonable range of rooms and facilities, with rooms furnished to a comfortable standard. Superior standard of accommodation with a wide range of rooms and facilities, and a higher standard of service. First Class accommodation with an excellent range of facilities and services. Accommodation in this rating is considered among the best in the country. A half star is noted when the level of service and facilities falls between two grades. Grading accommodation can be quite subjective and generally speaking the standard and services will be in line with the price paid. Please check with your travel consultant to ensure you get the accommodation that best fits your needs. Child Policy: A child is considered 2-11 years of age. Please note bedding configuration varies between properties and in some cases with different room types within a property. Some hotels also offer family bonuses and specials. Your travel consultant will help you choose the hotel to best suits you and your family’s needs. Look out for our "gems" of information scattered throughout our Bali brochure.

Bali Known as the ‘Land of the Gods’, Bali is undeniably beautiful. For a small tropical island, Bali has an amazing ability to provide something for everyone. Each region is so unique which makes it impossible to describe Bali as one destination. Take the time to visit chilled out Canggu, shop in stylish Seminyak or escape to Sanur. Aside from the main attraction of beaches, cruise the water to nearby islands or head inland to the fertile grassy plains, terraced rice paddies, striking lakes and vast volcanic mountains. Dotted throughout the land are historical, cultural and spiritual monuments with some of the most breath-taking natural scenery. This incredible landscape is only outdone by the warmth and friendliness of Balinese people. However you look at it, Bali is great value! Accommodation is well priced and plentiful, the shopping abundant, varied and cheap, there are a myriad of activities on offer, and the food that is available at every turn is delicious; think lemongrass, coriander, tamarind and ginger. You will never cease to be amazed at how the real beauty of Bali will reveal itself and will be enthralled at every step.

6 Tips for your Holiday

A warung is a small, casual dining establishment, usually family owned. They don’t look flashy but they’re your go-to for authentic Balinese cuisine and your morning Balinese coffee (kopi), which will please the most distinguished Kiwi palette. A must-try dish is babi guling (suckling pig) – so many flavours. Bali has an amazing choice of beautiful restaurants, be sure to visit Mama San Kitchen Bar Lounge, it offers old and new world influence in their Asian cuisine.

1 / SHOP 'TIL YOU DROP Shoppers are spoilt in Bali. From local markets to world-class malls, save some space for a medley of take-home treasures. Local markets offer a dense assortment of both trinkets and foot traffic, with Sukawati Art Market well regarded as Bali’s most legendary. This two-storey hub of sellers and hagglers stocks all manner of handmade keepsakes. Malls such as the Discovery Shopping Mall, Bali Collection at Nusa Dua to Beachwalk on Kuta Beach offer an air-conditioned escape from the heat. Bartering is mostly only accepted at markets and won’t be well received in malls or boutiques. Venture to Seminyak for designer items and if you’re looking for something more in-keeping with Bali’s harmonious reputation, sustainable and ethically-conscious stores are popping up everywhere.

2

3 / FOODIE HEAVEN

2 /EXPLORE FOR YOURSELF Hiring a driver starts from as little as $60 per day and is a smart idea. You remove the worry of driving alongside scooters, traffic jams and livestock and while you get driven from door-to-door, you can sit back and absorb all the highlights. From volcanoes and mountain regions, to small villages and coffee plantations, your driver will take you to sites you might not have found yourself. You’ll get insider’s knowledge from a genuine local, including your driver’s personal thoughts on just about everything.

5 / MORE BANG FOR YOUR RUPIAH When in Bali, you’d be a fool not to indulge in a massage. Or several. In places such as Legian, Seminyak and Kuta, there’s a massage boutique every 50 metres. Simply walk in and enjoy a full body one-hour massage for as little as $12. Food and drinks are also a bargain, with bottled water costing just over $1, and local warungs serve goodies from a low $5. Sanur Beach is one of the best places to partake in yoga because cheap rates are a wallet-friendly $15 per lesson. If it’s outdoor pursuits you crave, a full two hour surfing lesson can be sought for $8. Or if you’d prefer an underwater experience, rent a mask and snorkel in the Coral Triangle Region for less than $15.

© Peppers Seminyak

4 / FUN FOR ALL AGES Sanur Beach, on the island’s east coast, is a popular hangout for families. The 5 kilometres stretch is quiet and relaxed, with many restaurants, cafés and shady palm trees. When it comes to waterparks, the sprawling Waterbom Waterpark covers all sorts of heights and frights, with whopping 250 metre slides and some reach speeds of 70 kilometres per hour. Sail to Lembongan Island with Bali Hai Reef Cruises and moor alongside a purpose-built pontoon. The whole family will have fun in the sun with unlimited banana boat rides and refreshments.

6 / COME HOME RESTORED Bali offers an infinite amount of feel-good wellness options. From spas to cheap massages, reflexology and yoga, it’s all about finding your inner calm. Bali is popular for its coffee (Kopi Luwak) which they incorporate into many spa treatments due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Chakras are meant to stimulate your ‘third eye’ and open a portal into your soul, but if that’s all a bit intense, try one of Bali’s numerous rooftop spas, with bars and resident DJs to complement a full menu of treatments. Enjoy Qigong (a form of meditation that incorporates both Yoga and Tai Chi), or if you’re a hands-on individual, try a silver workshop in Ubud, where you’ll learn traditional Balinese silver-smithing to create your own bespoke piece of jewellery. © Pita Maha Resort & Spa

If you wish to explore some world-class diving, then Bali should definitely be on your travel agenda. Experience a great introduction to Bali's underwater life at the eastern tip of the island. Here is home to hundreds of fish species, coral and the famous USAT Liberty Wreck, an ideal diving site for any experience level.

Day 1-2: Kuta – Jimbaran Bay Head south stopping at Kuta Reef for fast, powerful barrels. This evening head out for a famous seafood dinner at Jimbaran Bay with more than 30 restaurants to choose from. Check out Rock Bar, perched 14 metres above the waves, for sunset cocktails, exceptional views and world-class DJs.

Day 1: Bali Airport/Hotel – Candidasa Journey to the small seaside town of Candidasa for a relaxing day of leisure.

Day 3: Jimbaran Bay – Padang Padang Beach Start at Balangan Beach, here you’ll find minimal crowds and a long, left hand ride. The final surf of the day is the ever consistent Bingin Beach, with world-class waves and limited crowds. Day 4: Padang Padang Beach – Uluwatu Surf the “Balinese Pipeline” of Padang Padang Beach before heading to the legendary surf spot, Uluwatu. Known for its consistent good quality surf, a variety of breaks and great conditions throughout the day. Beware, these waves should only be surfed by experienced surfers. Day 5: Uluwatu – Nusa Dua Stop at Nyang Nyang beach with a 600 step journey, this secret spot is a must-see. Next is Green Bowl, totally unspoilt where you may even get the waves all to yourself. End at Pandawa Beach, a beautiful one kilometre stretch of beach hidden behind large carved limestone cliffs. Grab a bite to eat at one of the local warungs before ending your journey in Nusa Dua.

Day 2: Candidasa – Tulamben Today head to Pasir Putih, one of Bali’s beautiful hidden beaches and used for the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” before making your way to Tirta Gangga. Boasting many decorative ponds and fountains with lush plant life and natural bathing pools. In the evening you will have the chance to do a night dive, or just relax and indulge in a traditional Balinese massage. Day 4: Tulamben – Sanur Start your day with a morning dive before tucking into a beautiful sunrise breakfast.
