Conducted by Orlando Philharmonic Music Director Christopher Wilkins and staged by Frank McClain, the orchestra’s production will star Cuban American soprano Elizabeth Caballero as Violetta. Caballero has been hailed as one of the leading sopranos on the scene today. Her recent performances of Violetta received raves including The Daily Page declaring, “With a lovely voice, she has a compelling sense of drama. As she puts the role through its paces, she creates a Violetta of passion and vulnerability, able to move from a conflicted sense of herself, through cruel sacrifices, to profound commitments. Even before her death scene, this Violetta is really heart-wrenching. Tenor Brian Jagde, a force in his own right, will perform the role of Alfredo, while the imposing baritone Stephen Powell takes the role of Alfredo’s father, Giorgio.
