NEW DAIRY FROM A TIMELESS TRADITION Tipped as the new superdairy, Ísey Skyr is packed with protein, naturally fat-free and has a smooth texture and creamy taste. A traditional favourite of Icelanders, Ísey Skyr is the only skyr that contains the MS original Icelandic skyr cultures and is made according to the original Icelandic recipe. The production process at MS Iceland Dairies

THE ORIGINAL ICELANDIC SKYR CULTURES Only MS Iceland Dairies uses the original Icelandic skyr cultures. These wild, ancient Icelandic cultures have been isolated to be used in the Ísey Skyr production. They contain the strain Streptococcus thermophilus islandicus™ derived from an original Icelandic skyr sample. We have been using these cultures to make the best-selling skyr, now known as Ísey Skyr, since
the company was founded 1927. These are cultures that have been used for centuries in Icelandic skyr production, first processed on Icelandic farms throughout the country, and later exclusively by MS Iceland Dairies. The original Icelandic skyr cultures ensure the consistently high quality of Ísey Skyr.
We are the original, Icelandic Skyr. Our stamp of Icelandic origin reassures customers of where we are from and the authenticity of our product. We therefore include the line: “The original Icelandic recipe” together with the Icelandic flag to signify this.

OUR STORY Once upon a time, 1,100 years ago in fact, Nordic settlers began arriving in Iceland. They brought with them the skills and knowledge for producing skyr. As time passed, the know-how and recipe for this nutritious food faded out elsewhere in the Nordic region. Luckily, the Icelandic skyr-making tradition continued. For centuries, Icelandic skyr formed a cornerstone of the national diet, helping to keep people strong in living conditions that were often harsh. On family farms countrywide, it were the women who nurtured this superdairy and passed on the recipe and the original Icelandic skyr cultures from mother to daughter. Ísey Skyr builds on this remarkable legacy. It was

some of those very same women, the recipients of their mothers’ expertise, who, around 90 years ago, taught Icelandic dairy scientists the art of skyr-making. The production process is more hightech these days, and the quality standards more rigorous. However, the basic recipe and the use of original cultures to ferment the skimmed milk remain the same. Protein rich, fat-free, creamy and delicious – Ísey Skyr is as relevant to consumers now as it was all those centuries ago.
OUR NAME Ísey is a contemporary, Icelandic female name, which has been in use since 1909. It has a fresh, modern ring and represents the purity of our product and Icelandic nature. The name is inspired by generations of Icelandic women passing down the secret of skyr, from mother to daughter.
Ísey Skyr represents a new generation of dairy produce. It uses high-tech processing technology, yet it is based on ancient Icelandic traditions. As our own fresh take on the name of our country, Ísey captures this combination of the timeless and the contemporary, perfectly.
In Icelandic ‘Ís’ means ice and ‘ey’ means island – combining the two words creates a novel expression of the birthplace of Ísey Skyr – Iceland.
